Isabelle is getting the Spyro game for Christmas. She is very excited about it. Her birthday is going to be bringing us all sorts of Easy Bake yummies.

I'm happy we got the manager's spot filled. Now we need to get a Right Fielder, a Closer, and a Starting Pitcher. Oh yeah, we need to resign Big Papi also.

Dana, I'd LOVE to see Carlos Beltran bring his bat to Fenway though I wouldn't mind seeing Michael Cuddyer in right, either. And from what I've heard about Cuddyer, he might be a real asset in the clubhouse, something that has to be a consideration after some of the stuff that's come out about what went on last season...

Color me cautiously optimistic regarding Big Papi. The fact that they offered him arbitration was a good sign. But I've heard rumors about the Orioles being interested.

As for starting pitchers, I like Mark Buerhle best among the available free agents. But if Dice-K comes back around mid-season, Bobby V. might be just the guy to bring out the best in him, so there's that. Meanwhile, I choose to believe that not having Lackey anywhere near Yawkey Way next season amounts to addition by subtraction!

But whom the closer will be remains to be seen. I'm not convinced (to put it mildly) that Bard is the answer.

BTW...anyone know how long before pitchers and catchers report for spring training? I can hardly wait (but somehow ya knew that, didn'tcha?)!

I'm hoping that my comic shop got the Hulk figures in today like they said they were going to. I need to call the shop around noon to check. It's a 45 minute drive from my house to the shop so there's no way I'm going to make the trek if I don't have to. Especially since I only have 3 comics that came out today as well.

So Hulk figs are arriving in stores, but what's going on with the previews? Last week it seems the previews lost steam. I don't recall there being Tuesday/Thursday/Friday/ or the Facebook Mystery dial last week. I don't think we got a preview yesterday either. Shouldn't the new set euphoria be at a fever pitch right now?



In other news, it looks like I'm going to be starting up a second venue's Heroclix scene in Des Moines. There is a venue in Ankeny (Des Moines suburb) that is going to quit having clix tournaments as of January and their players want a place to go. It's the venue that I quit going to because the owner was jerking people around by prohibiting them from winning if he didn't like their team and also would ban players if he thought they were too good. If you go onto their website, he even rants about having to buy prize support for Heroclix.

Anyway, I'm trying to figure out when to hold the tournaments, and I was thinking Wednesday nights. Do you guys have any experience with which nights are best? Friday is a no-go due to a huge Friday Night Magic showing. Saturday afternoons are a no-go because that's when I hold the tournament in Ames.

I think they put the brakes on the previews while HCRealms was doing the GF previews. Being a smaller set, they only have about 10-15 figures that we haven't seen so they don't want the whole set to be spoiled ahead of time, I would think. (Although it's usually about now that somebody somewhere gets a full set leak out)

As far as what night to have a tourney? Wednesday is pretty awesome. You can get people to come in for new comics and stay for clix. It's a good two for one deal.
