Oh, and another factor in the games, losing both map rolls and having to play on the Web of SPider-man map.
I'm torn on this map. Its cool looking, and was a lot of fun for the Web Pieces, with more 'street level' pieces, but kind of sucked for constructed.
There is basically no terrain on it. It is kind of like a 2 player version of the Great Arena, with 2 starting areas, 4 elevated areas in the corners, and then a big stretch of open ground in the middle. Water on the borders.
Issue was with Wizard Shazam, once he was in the middle of the map, there was essentially no square he could not see to shoot to. If your initial attack run failed, there is no place to recoup or restage, you're just totally exposed.
Commonly used characters with 8-10 range and running shot with dominate on that map, hands down. Especially with flight. Moonstone, Iron Man, on a little map like that, you can't get past their range anywhere.
Sorry that you didnt make it man. You played really well all weekend.
I'm in the finals for A&A, and we had two tough games today, so its pretty accurate to say if my partner played alone he probably would have lost. [And even though I was 5th, I could have had a bad day too and not made the HC finals, although my A&A dice were hot alot of the time today.] So I'm glad I dropped out so we could team up.
I will have WOS prizes for "Chase for lanterns 2" so Dustin and I wont be the only ones with them, unless you all sell them.
See you all soon.
"And I shall make little coins with my head on them and place them in the thongs of your strippers."
Pieces cofirmed at booth that will be in 75th Annie DC set, I could not take pics as my phone was being used to take CC transactions:
The Wonder Twins, with Gleep, batman swing with thug in arm(Detective Comics 27), Atrocious, Red/green guy Gardner. When asked the wk employee could not confirm whether Atrocious was a chase, but he made a point to turn his head left to right.
if you read this then you lost 10 seconds you'll never get back.
I don't want to play a game of chess where dumb luck or money decides whether or not I get to use a rook... Collectibility is a necessary evil of Heroclix, not a boon.
My thoughts on the format for "Chase for lanterns two"
All "based" upon a spider-man "theme".
1 - Street level hero (200 point team. No member over 50 points. Modern age).
2 - Avenger team member (300 point Theme Team. Silver age).
3 - Related to Golden Oldie - (400 point team. Golden Age). No Anti Monitor.
4 - Still beats the cosmic big boys (500 point team. One member must have the power cosmic or Quintessence ability. THAT figure can be golden or Modern age. The others must be Modern age). No Anti Monitor. So the legals are...
Winner was the guy with Black Adam/Shazam and the 5 probs. He's the guy who beat Charles in round 5 of Sealed.
He's also a huge douche that I really hate to see win. He's only been playing Heroclix about six months, and I can tell you that the thing he's learned most about in that time is whining. Every missed roll against Charles, he would just scream out "####, ####, what a bunch of ####. What are the odds against that, huh? What are the ####in odds? Goddammit."
Well, I guess he learned to stack the odds with all those Probs.
... Spurs could have beaten it...
The Inhuman of Team Vegas,
Black Bolt of the Vegas Illuminati

I hate to say this.....
Homeslice won the WWChicago (I think) back in '07. He's a 2nd time champion.
As for the screaming part......there's always a couple at these events.

All you need is a stealthed range attacker, and half the time those probs are useless. Kill BA/SH and its game over.
But it was obviously easier to say than for anyone to do. I think my avengers team would have done fine against it.
Anyway, I won A&A again. So I can't say I made a bad choice by dropping out.
