I think Kid Zoom is included on teams at this point because of Nightcrawler, more than anything else. KZ had no impact on Gencon last year (right before WoS, as you well know).

81 points to stop Shazam! / Black Adam or Ms. Skrullvel (who also didn't appear last year) seems like a waste. 81 points to stop 86 Nightcrawler is a whole other situation. Saying 'now it's proven' fails to take into account what's come out since the last big tournament, where KZ didn't even factor.

I'm a little surprised at some of the pieces on these teams.

Moonstone, Batman Beyond, Iron Fist, Howard the Duck. All good pieces, but the most competitive for a build?

Also, no Blazam, no smokey Cap.

Batman Beyond is a little surprising, the other 3 aren't.

Blazam would be a pretty big outlier because teams built to hurt Metron and Nightcrawler would nail him whether it is a Kid Zoom or a ranged Psychic Blaster.

Cap...dunno. Martial Artist might've wanted/needed the Exploit/Penetrating from Iron Fist or Gamorra to deal with Metron.

Yeah. Kid Zoom was on at least a quarter of the teams. Also, none of the teams sported a Shazadam (is this right?). Nay-sayers thought no teams would have Kid Zoom. He is definitely a game changer. I look forward to seeing more of him at Gencon.

I don't understand the surprise that Kid Zoom was so prevalent. 87 points to completely shut down the most powerful power in the game sounds like a no-brainer to me. Kid Zoom/Metron was a team-up I expected to do very well at Origins and GenCon.

I'm just going to quote myself.

I hope we see more of him at Gencon. If he did so well this time around, what will happen next time? Maybe because of him, there will be less and less HSS pieces showing up. It would make the tournament more fun, I think.
