How is Dr. Fate a silver bullet to the gauntlet? I really don't see it.
To those who don't think Gauntlet is an issue: Congrats, you likely don't deal with players who have to win every week and only get their fun out of winning.
Yes the gauntlet is an issue to this game just like SIF, just like Nightcrawler, and just like the underbuild rule. And things DO change to get rid of these, but for certain, all of these elements have lasted for at least one tournament season (Origin and Gencon). I'm calling it now that Resources are rotated out of Modern Age after Gencon (March/April next year?), or the Infinity Gauntlet "set" of LE's, objects, and Gauntlet are rotated to Golden Age as simply a "collector's set."

Its not a surprise that it exists or that you may have to play against it. Talk to your Judge if your not having fun. Set up games with out the IG.
If the Gauntlet presents problems it needs fixed at a local level per group not a mass errata that affects everyone because a few vocal players don't like what it does for its cost.
I have no trouble winning at all. A lot of my matches are easier, when my opponent decides not to play a gauntlet at a competitive event.
I'm not talking about fair/unfair-- everybody can play a gauntlet. I'm talking about the fact that the game is now effectively "Gauntletclix" for competitive games.
It's very undercosted, and to deal with it you have to play it, or play a very specific strategy to counter it (which really is probably better with the gauntlet as well).
Everyone has the Gauntlet. This isn't a Con exclusive that only a few people can acquire. "This too shall pass." IG will be nerfed, silver bullet fixed, and retired.
Making a huge fuss because you don't like what it does and how much it costs is OVER reacting. Man up, play harder, and win without using it if it bothers you so much. Its the new hotness not the Apocalypse. (he is the con exclusive)
I'm being a little facetious today but really this is a game if you hate it so much why play?
Its not an auto win, That was SIF and its fixed. If the IG was an auto win it would be fixed quickly.
FWIW, I'm not kevetching about the Gauntlet. I've beaten Gauntlet teams. I've won with and without the Gauntlet.
I'm suggesting a theory as to the pricing of the Gems as Relics and the effectiveness of the Gauntlet for it's points. The Gauntlet looks to match up with it's impact better when you reverse the pricing.
The trouble with heroclix is not winning, it's building to win without overpowering your opponent. There will always be powergamers and allway be non-competitive players, but for me the ideal is building a team that will compete without overpowering. Some of my worst games had me winning with little effort (see SIF team above, the times I've played Dr Manhattan colossal, a few other cases). With the gauntlet in play, unless everyone brings one (or a gauntlet-killer team), things get very lopsided very quickly.
My second problem with it is how the games resolve. I like a good knock-down, drag-out match but if the game goes on for any lenght of time, somebody hits 2 and things change. Suddenly it's a battle of HSS figures, or variaitions. It was novel the first few times, now it's old.
I could propose banning it locally, or play more games without it-- but a lot of us also like to keep sharp for Nationals/Worlds, and doing that is just handicapping ourselves.
If I didn't care about the competitive scene, I would not care much. But I do. I placed fairly high last year at Gencon, and I'm going to Origins this year (and maybe Gencon, too). And I'm not looking forward to a Gauntletfest.
I agree with the original poster, the gem costs should be reversed, which would make the gauntlet a little less broken.
I've played with the gauntlet and I like to think of myself as a competitive player who likes to win but.... I don't really want to use the gauntlet anymore, it's just TOO good, hence it's BORING.
Place the cards for all six gems on the ground in a circle with the corners touching. Arrange the cards so that they are all facing towards the same direction. Make sure each card is placed opposite where its respective gem would be placed on the infinity gauntlet dial. Place a pole in the middle of the cards, and rest your forehead gently on the top of the pole. Keepingyour forehead on the pole and the pole on the ground, walk in counter-clockwise circles around the cards. Then the real explanation of the point costs will be revealed.

I've been waiting for someone else to point this out. I Personally, I have no complaints about the Gauntlet being overpowered. Broken pieces come and go. It happens. This right here is the issue: The Gauntlet has made matches boring. Winning against the gauntlet is boring. Winning with the gauntlet is boring. Losing against the gauntlet is boring. Losing with the gauntlet is boring.
At a local turnout of 12-16 players (regularly), we can only find 1-2 players who are not playing the gauntlet. The reverse was the case with Nightcrawler, and SIF was never an issue locally.
To those hopeful about "fixing" the gauntlet: It can't be fixed. At 40 points for full godhood, I wouldn't hesitate to bring it to a competitive event. At 70 points, the only effect will be "Oh gee, now I can't put it on Destroyer." The abilities are just too good to not use in an environment where you want to win. The only solution is to get rid of it by banning or retirement. At a local level, encourage your judge to use more scenarios or events that forbid the gauntlet. Myself and another judge decided to move our IG events to all sealed, drafts, or other forms of 'limited' play to dissuade the gauntlet out of the "have to win" events. At the WK sponsored levels? Tough luck guys. WK will likely not do anything until after Gencon, so pack your gloves if you plan on attending Worlds and making it to the top 16. At least all those hopeful for Sunday will have to battle through each other without any gauntlets on Saturday.

Now this I completely understand. I'm a big theme team player. I love a good match coming down to one or two die rolls to determine the winner. The Gauntlet is strong, its the first Swiss army knife of heroclix. It does it all; powers, stat boost, and protection all at the same time. The full gauntlet isn't even released yet, but yet players are clamoring for it to get an errata.
This kind of knee jerk reaction to the Gauntlet is what I am against.
Your talking about competitive events; One of the two biggest heroclix tournaments of the year. If you plan on going you will face the Gauntlet and teams to kill the Gauntlet. Last year it was Nightcrawler, years before it was SIF, these things come and go in this game. It will pass and by this time next year it will be something completely different we will be talking about. (Bat Utility Belt?)
Could the gauntlet have been costed higher? Yes it could have. Are all the gems equal in game effect for there cost? No some are better for 5 points than others. If it was costed at 70 points would people play it? Yes they would its the Infinity Gauntlet!! At 70 points would people still complain that it was undercosted/overpowered? Yes people complain about everything. :speechles
Does that mean it needs changed? No, it doesn't. Being useful, new and fun isn't the same as being broken/auto win.
