Combat engineers. 10 point units (especially if you use the SC version) that FORCE a tactical decision from your opponent, to use an order where they don't want to, take a click of heat for pushing when they don't want to or risk a nasty flamer attack.
SS miningmech. it does one thing and it does it well, the miningmech swarm was a fun army, the mod was just a waste though
hopefully no one will besmirch the good name of the SS elite miningmech MkII
and anyone who's complaining about the HL SM1 obviously hasn't seen the SC version...

Hl longbow. 20 defence? You've gotta be kidding me. Although I need a good AP unit, in this case, I'll pull the fig out and this will follow:

Crow. He's not bad. I mean for $5 for shipping. He's got AP and good targeting. sure it's messed up that he's a 290pt blade, but s'all good.
HL legionaire. 12" 21def, hv-armor, not a great piece by any stretch of the imagination, but not total ####, esp in a formation. Which is easy since it's 114pts.
Over 180pts and 20 or less defense. The SS shockwave is niiiiiice, I don't know where you are from. Tetro keeps armor piercing through almost all the dial and keeps 3 dmg until she is salvage. Plus has hardened armor. Sure stuff will hit her, but will it hurt her? The Highlander shockwave? dangerous man, dangerous.
The LE crow has 20 def when elevated, and armor piecing and IT, even though it's SU. It can hit anything, almost. If there is a mech you gotta get out of good equip that's the copter, plus, IT'S ONLY 32 PTS! that's less than a formation of most infantry!!!
Steel Wolves units are highly pushable. And they almost all have armor piercing, being a highlander player, I appreciate how deadly that can be. Bumped a lot of pieces into the best clicks.
Now, by HL do you mean House Liao or Highlanders?
Highlander: Ghost, marksman, PURIFIERS, innersphere battle armor, SRM team, and I'm just starting.
Liao: No comment man... if you think there non-uniques suck, you are obviously not looking at their dials, almost none are salvage for long if at all.
SC. You have to realize that ballistic isn't their thing. Energy is. Look at the 16" marvels they got. Look at the Mjolnir, and I am just starting man.
You fail to realize why hauberks are good, they can help ANY unit fire, the have 14" range and usually infiltrate, so you can send them ahead to wait for other units, or transport them and to help out ANYTHING.
Sprints are Zone runners. Leave them back then run them behind everyone. base some arty while your at it and they are cheap! ^_^
Firestarters kill infantry and vehicles. That and they help infantry capture mechs. I mean what's not to like? Are you afraid to base enemy units?
Hatchetmen: The hatchetman design was ment for forest and city in-fighting. So, it traded armor and guns for speed. The second a hatchetman gets in base with something it's dead. Toast!
Longbow? see how tetro doesn't suck. I already covered this, you already covered this, why is it here again, do you have rage issues?
Arty: Malcom McPherson, Highlander sniper, Liao Arrow 4 does 3 damage. Merc sniper has improved targeting, if you don't know how to abuse that, you're silly.
Man, look at the BR raiders, and the DF raiders. They rock! Oh, and the Agromech mkII mods, with the 12" shot. they are sweet.
There are crapy units, but the ones that you listed you just don't like because they are not perfect. I had that syndrome for a while. But you need to open your eyes and see the world man.
another use for the sprint that I'm surprised no one understood, and I'm sure it's one of the reason's they were in LI in the first place. grapple doesn't work if TWO mechs or vehicals are in base contact with the grappling unit. The ability to switch off grapple and get your heavilly pogged mech out of dodge when that steel rains down from anywhere on the board is good to have. I'm pretty sure that's worth 20 odd points.
The HL Uller would be my choice of the worst MWDA unit ever.
Followed by Ken (I'll cook popcorn, and dinner in my cockpit becaues it is sooooo hot in here) Roos (I already know, he is a great mech, except.... EXCEPT) If he only had one clear click of heat, he'd be inevery army I make. Instead he is sooo fragile I cannot reasonably play him often.
HL Ghost,Marksman and IS BA are Good Units HAAAAHAAAHAAA you are kidding right plz tell me that was a joke. those are some realy craptastic units you pick out let me see.
HL Ghost 138 points Brawling , 10'' energy attack, 21 defense w/ reactive armor, and a whoping 8 attack whoopie all that damage and it can not hit the broad side of a mountain. 3 damage and it is down to a 7 attack whieee when will the fun stop.
HL Marksman good tank except for 1 thing its min rang weapon that just crys out to be based by anything. nuff said 80+ point waisted by my 12 point ATV's having fun yet.
HL I.S. BA good attack good defense craptastic non jump speed and a usless Streak SE for a 8'' all this can be yours for 19 points. Nope still going with the Maxim filled to the roof with SRM Teams.

On to Firestaters the only thing they kill is a good order. Any body who lets you base their units with your Firestarter is a noob. Sorry to say that but it is true. I have never lost a unit to a FireStarter or a Hatchetman since point for point those units blow big day glow chunks.
Hm? FireStarters Crappy? You've got to be kidding me. 3 energy damage and 2 clicks of heat. Use that in conjuction with a few Flamer Units, and it's kill time. In comes a Hatchetman and cleaves chunks outta shutdowned enemies.
FYI, no unit is crappy. You just need to use them right.
This army went 2 and 0, taking down OEJ, and the Liao Hellstar. (I realize against a artillery heavy army this would get slaughtered. but, the Venue I play in rarely fields much artillery.
