I have said before and will reiterate, I hate ML/Ram, yet I use it in tourney play becaus I know I can win with it, tournaments are about winning, fun, but winning. When I want to really just have fun, try out themed armies, finally use those unused uniques, then I play a fun game with friends AFTER or BEFORE the tourney.

But tourney time, cheese or no, it's all about winning, that is the POINT of a tournament, it's why you have a winner, and prizes, and a ranking system.

So WK is talking about rule changes that will help the game, but still, there will always be some tactic or piece that is "cheese" and I may lobby for changes, but come tourney time, I will ALWAYS use whatever pieces and tactics give me the best chance of winning. period.

if someone wants to say that's cheap, then I say, the Chicago Bulls shouldn't have given Michael Jordan the basketball so much since he was "broken" compared to other players, and it didn't allow other teams a fair chance. They should have focused their offense on stinky Will Perdue, to give other teams a fair chance. Likewise, the Lakers shouldn't let Kobe or Shaq score any points...

I don't disagree with you, Montanamike. In fact, I totally agree with you. I said the rules are the problem.

The tournament play is all about winning and competition. I, however, said that competition is hard to come by when using MDF's.

Last weekend's event was not the first time I had seen MDF's run the gamut on everyone else. If MDF's weren't a problem, then why has Wizkids proposed a rule change? Clearly, something is unbalanced.

I also stated I have no problem whatsoever with the players. In fact, I went out of my way to emphasize that everyone I have played in Eau Claire has been a pleasure to play with.

and like I said, if you think I'm a whiner, you're probably right.

Didn't mean to come down hard on you Eazy, just seemed like you were upset at remionld for playing something that would win.

New players should not expect to win tournaments without improving. I realize that the chariot is a tough draw, but if you play your cards right, and choose a well rounded army, it can be beat.

Now most noobs aren't going to realize that terrian placement and taking out the front section is the best way to do this. In time, if they are smart, they will. The challenge will make the victory all the more rewarding.

Yes, the chariot is undercosted if you put unit with sweep in it, and yes wizkids is doing something about it.

It does not change the fact that tournaments are played to win.

Hey, dude, glad to hear you say that you are splitting from the scene and why. I play in and run tourneys, and I have seen the scene drop in most places. Fortunately, where we are, we are not worried about making changes if it brings more people, and in fact, we take what people want to do into as much consideration as possible. Saw your Pyramids posts too, and I have to say, I agree with most of them. I play MK, but have expanded now to other mini games (40k and WH, oh no! Plus checking out some games Grimlok recommended) Rock on.

The one guy who I know is aware of what he is talking about is jgklaw, and I don't really hold him saying someone is a whiner against him, cause the guy is one of the nicest, while being super competative, guys I'd ever met, and I'd be happy to play him any time.

As for all the other "whiner" comments, give me a break, Like your not WHINING when you cry like a baby about someone's complaining :p Scream, baby scream.

I say get out, sell what you can and cut your losses. I get bitten by the miniatures bug from time to time and as soon as I start getting in too deep I back out and return to boardgames. The quality of boardgaming (mechanics, production, design) these days is astounding! Games like Puerto Rico, History of the World, Battle Cry, etc. are far better investments for your gaming dollar and they are much more fun in the long run. Friends can be taught fairly quickly, they don't need their own playing pieces, there's endless replay (depending on the game, natch), and you won't be buying endless pieces just to play the bloody game!

If painting is more your thing, just buy the odd miniature and paint the sucker.

Trust me, I know boardgames and miniatures seem worlds apart, but boardgames excel in almost every respect, especially in the dollar department.

Im focusing on the fun aspect of MK right now. My Wood Golem atmy totally rocks! But seriously, i can see how the chariot and titans are a bit "broken" in the 200 and 300 pt games.

But as in all things, MK is rock-paper-scisor. MLRam, HOST, Chariots, they will come and go.

If you really want to have fun with a chariot, hide a few ranged guys between some water. Blast the front of the chariot and hit the sides a bit and watch em squirm.

I killed the sides and was left with the front of a KIcharger as it swept toward my last remaining piece, a Thunder Golem. I smacked it twice in the front, and it ran out of steam. Damaged Mr. Hammerskald wasnt going anywhere, and once he was gone, the chariot was just sitting there. Ahh, the good ol' days...

Right now i am working on re-modeling a Resident Evil army for a friend of mine. Storm Golem and Maelstrom Golem as Tyrant and (whats his brother's name?), and a bunch of zombies and technos for lab assistants.

So take a load off. Forget about MK for a bit. But come back to the war zone someday, cause we need players like you who are looking to just have fun.

Just wait till my CandyLand Army is ready for battle.

sometimes I myself feel as if I want to quit.
especially when I go against players who not only cheat, then even do it blatantly.

like there was this one guy from our gaming circle who you know.. you really just know is palming his dice. cause everytime he rolled, he would spread his palm and then place the dice upon his palm. he would not close his palm or anything. instead, he even looks at his dice as it wobbles on his palms and then carefully rolls it..

with the 6 on top, if he rolls it properly, he has a better chance of getting a 6 than if you roll it normally.

of course I should have called his attention to this or the warlords. but then I was playing just for fun.

anywya before I digress further, I know how you feel. all I can say is. who cares about them? lets play. it our life. they wanna win? so what????

I do agree though that MDFs and titans should not be allowed in rebellion games. a chariot it killable, a titan is killable, a dragon can definitely be killed.... but with the time that you have? it makes it harder to do it.

your right...with the kind of environment we have here..its tiring...it hard to find and complete your army its kinda frustrating...its sometimes better to ask help from people over the realms than asking here personally.....kinda sick when you need a fig and you know that some body has horde it and have it and not sharing it...well what i do is understand that they are afraid to sell/trade it coz it might be used against them..lol....

I'm sorry to hear that. But, you "are" a warlord. Simply make the tournies non titan and mdf. Make up scenarios and force people to build their army a certain way. I repeat you are a warlord ask to borrow the guys dice for a few minutes if after about a hundred rolls one fo the dice comes up a five all the time ban his sorry ###. All these problems you talk about are fixable by the fact you are a warlord. End of sermon.
