Atlanta had one yesterday as well:
- 26 players
- all ranges of decks in the top 8: Deadpool KO / Secret Six-Underworld Victorious / Checkmate-Darkseid-Negative Zone / Secret Society / Morlock-Darkseid Rush / Hellfire Club / Crisis Divinity KO / forgot the other one
It came down to Crisis Divinity KO vs. Secret Six-Underworld Victorious in the finals. It seems that when you flip Crisis on Infinite Earths and all your characters become Crisis affiliations and no other, Divinity can choose to KO a Doom character, and as there are no Doom characters on the table, Divinity has no draw back and wrecks house. So Divinity wins. Also, Mobilize is a beast in that deck too, any character you want.
BTW - we called various judges on the Divinity ruling and it was confirmed by several high level peeps. Stupid card that will hopefully be fixed come Monday.
Crisis - Divinity seems extremely interesting.
I'm also curious on the Deadpool KO deck. Coercion? Defenders/Syndicate?
I see no point in holding back. Why limit yourself competitvely if you like playing the game at its maximum? It's like all the people that like to play hard have their hand tied behind their backs. A handicap. I love making anti-meta decks that beat the known field and slug it with rogue. Winning simply by being the more prepared is well-deserved feeling enough.
The City Champs was small, 6-people. Went 5-0. The deck can be complicated, but has plan B,C,D's.
The basic gameplan is to gauntlet off initiative on turn 5 everygame, and an on iniatiive fate-set'd alan scott on turn 4. Winning often on 6. There are tons of little combos in here, see if you can find them! : )
You can't do too much with a Fate'd out Al Scott on 4, and Harvey is the sh!t in this deck.
I heard Berlin was well attended and Holmes had 20. I Top 4'd Holmes with a Checkmate/Hellboy deck. Turns out Breaking off the Horns and Pancakes are ridiculous. As is 4 drop Hellboy. I beat everything I played except for Kree/VU. I think Hellboy has some real potential out there. You just need to find out how to maximize it.

I played the same in our tourney. Hellboy on 4 with 2 Knight Armor is nasty. Both of my losses were to InfyGauntlet decks, with one being a king kill.
And i kind of was getting frustrated with people...everytime i won a match people would say "I got a ####ty draw, i didnt hit (Insert drop that would have magically won the game), and other excuses"
I wholeheartedly agree with this sentiment, even though I was guilty of it myself more than one of my three losses Sunday. Qualifying the other person's win ("But if I had been able to search out Dr. Tzin-Tzin, you wouldn't have stood a chance") is just poor form. I'm going to make a conscious effort to stop doing it at the next CC.
