id love them to reprint long shot 1 drop!

so i guess im saying some rares would be worth a reprint & would even be good for the game. I own 10 copies of long shot and I wouldn't mind haveing more.

I think a political pressure reprint would be welcomed as well. I just hope they do new art work on the card. I own about 11 copies of political pressure. I really don't want anymore pp's but it would be nice to destroy kree in silver without haveing to worry about killing you on 5.

I've seen multiple posts on this thread and a bunch others how Vs. is so expensive to play. If you were one of the people then, okay. But, I'm talking about apples, you're talking about Jessica Alba, that's why neither of us understand each other ^.^. What I'm saying is, Vs. System, is NOT an expensive game. If MLE is what we think it is, I'm gonna just buy singles I need for decks, no doubt. But yeah, that WILL help the Secondary Market. 'Cause now you'll probably want some of the singles I want, which means it's more in demand, which, drives the price higher. If a ton of people copy the "buy singles" strategy, we'll see more stores get into buying/selling singles. Even if it's just a select few, there's a greater chance of a good one with so many, also, it still means they're investing in the game, which is never a bad thing.

I am having a very tough time believing that reprints hurt the value of the originals. Having played Magic for more than a decade, I can say with certainty that 90% of the time the reprinting of an old card will actually increase its value. Let's face it: old cards are not legal in any format except Golden Age, a format where a card would have to be enormously powerful for it to be playable. What this translates into is: worthless old cards. Sure, they're technically worth some number of dollars, but hardly anyone would ever buy them from you so they're useless.

Reprint them, however, and it's a different story altogether. Suddenly they're playable again, and people want them again. I've been trying to get rid of hundreds of old Magic cards for years, but no one wanted to buy them. Enter the recent increase in Magic reprints... and I have now sold almost all of my copies of the reprinted cards.

What about the other 10% of the time? Well, if the rare is an ultra-chase rare then its value will go down because it's more available. But because it's an ultra-chase rare to begin with, its value won't go down all that much because people still won't be selling new copies they open readily.

To recap, if they hypothetically reprint a lot of cards, Enemy of my Enemy and Mobilize prices will go down (if they are reprinted) and everything else will go up.

thats not true especially in mtg. look at some of the reprint cards. akromas were goig for 25$ each before time spiral. time spiral came out and you barely get 12$ for them. most of the reprint cards people wanted were common reprints liek icatian javelineers. anyways if you still have some of those mtg cards im willing to buy them. just pm with a list

OK, let's look at Akroma as an example:

Before, Akroma was technically worth about $15.00 (magic cards are cheaper in the philippines, but harder to get ahold of), but what was happening to the Akromas I had? (I think I had about six)

Nothing. People just didn't want to buy 'em. People didn't really need 'em. There were only a select few people interested in Akromas (collectors and reanimator players) but they only needed one each, and most of them already had one. My $15.00 Akromas were gathering dust even when I was willing to let 'em go for $10.00. Someone did offer to buy one for $5.00 though. Some angel collector dude. Worthless.

So then Akroma is reprinted, and suddenly people want her for Standard. I then proceed to sell them off for about 10 dollars each (I didn't even try to get a good bargain, just sold 'em off at the first bid).

Now this is Akroma we're talking about, a card that is playable in extended. And I couldn't get rid of her. Now think of all the other rares that I had. Dragonstorms and stuff. They might as well have been blank piles of cardboard! If they hadn't been reprinted, I would never have been able to sell 'em off. Thankfully they were reprinted, and I am now finally rid of them.

The same thing has happened for me many a time in the past too. Shard Phoenix was worthless to me until it was reprinted. Ditto for Story Circle and a bunch of other stuff like my Wildfires. Utterly worthless until they were reprinted.

Remember: Even though xxx.com might say your card is worth a big wad of money, it's useless unless someone is willing to actually buy your cards.

As a new player, the idea of reprints does appeal to me, seeing as some of the MOR/MSM cards are difficult for me to obtain. I'm currently living in Scotland, with just one gaming shop in the local vicinity, unelss I'm willing to fork out £20 for a train ticket to get to Edinburgh where there's a few more.

Being as moderately secluded as I am, buying MOR/MSM cards is slightly difficult, the local shop only has so many in stock, and buying the cards online can be expensive sometimes if they need to be shipped from the USA. As such, being able to buy a £2.50 booster pack, and have a chance of getting some 'older' cards is an attractive prospect, along with some new ones, instead of spending a quid or two on the card, or a few copies of it, before postage.

Did you read my post? It said if they reprint and dont give one new rare per pack, I wont be buying any of it...not singles...not cases...not packs....zero....I also dont remember bringing the Alba into this...

I never once said VS was too expensive...never....I spend tons on this game and am happy to do so...but I wont spent 55-75 per box on old #### when I can get right now on ebay

i dont go buy what any secondary cad websites say except ebay. akromas were easily picking up 25-30$ here and you were able to sell them on ebay for at least 20$. then it was reprinted and easy to get so the cards price was killed. its was the same thing with psionic blast to. a once 50$ card is now worth at most 10$.

Your area must have the world's biggest concentration of reanimator and fish players (does fish even play Psionic Blast? What vintage deck did it go in?). Ebay is meh. It's too much of a hassle to sell anything there if you're not in the US (I hear most of the world is not in the US).

In any case, the VS secondary market being what it is right now, I don't really see any bad effect reprints could possibly have on prices of old cards (you can already get them for next to nothing), except for Enemy and Mobilize, which I assume most people actually want to be devalued.

VS is a cheep game respectivly, you just have to know where to find the cheep stuff. Going to your local gamestore does not provide the "cheep" that we talk about, online is the haven of the cheep product. Will you have to spend 100 bucks to get your enemys or moblizes, yes but will the benift of the cards outweight their cost.......hell yes.

the only sets that are still retail are the newest set which is understandable. but if you want to play Vs and want to "catch up" its insanely easy.

try not eating at mcdonalds, downing 10 cornonas at the bar every weekend, smoking a pack a day and you might have some money left in your pocket.

Just wanted to say you are still missing my point. For some poeple VS IS AN EXPENSIVE GAME, depending on what they make. That's what I meant by exspensive is relative. :ermm:;)

Alba is brought into everything, it's only a matter of time ^.^. Also, for what you're saying, if they reprint stuff like Political Pressure and Sentinels, just buy old boxes of MOR for $20 or just keep what you have. I don't see why you, personally, need to buy the boxes. But...now I'm starting to contradict myself...

Doc Jones: While the word "expensive" means different things to different people, IDK how cheap people want Vs. to be here. I mean, what, everyone just walks into a tourney and gets a competitive deck for like $15? Uh...no, not what I think Vs. should be. As far as CCG's go, if people can't afford to play with just a deck, then it's pretty tough. A Quicksilver deck costs, what, maybe $30-40? Just keep that for Silver/Golden Age. For Modern, wait 'til DWF and just get a cheap deck, doesn't seem hard.
