It's only just been released on boo ray here, I couldn't have stood to watch in the cinema, too long. It kept the interest, but managed to be annoying at the same time, then the credits roll and its JMS, so I understand.
I rather enjoyed it. I went in expecting an action movie, not a story or continuity driven plot. That's why I enjoyed Transformers DotM, not much, but still.
And let me guess, you think Europe is sooooo on the ball. You dang hippy!
And don't let them fool you, every country is ego-centric.
Nope. Way off.
As usual, you can take whatever conclusion can be drawn by the rest of the population and throw it out the window when I'm involved.
If you think I'll go left on a subject, I'll probably end up being more right than you'd expect.
But the opposite is also true.
But when it comes to stuff like metric, time zones, and football (soccer) I think people in the US need to realize that if you sail in either direction, you won't fall off the edge of the world.
Good point on all countries. That's another thing that's missed by most people in the US.
The funniest thing to me is that Sesame Street is broadcast in HOW many different countries and the US is the only place where the whole show is basically about multiculturalism. In EVERY other country it's about nationalism.
Well I knew how you actually felt. I just wanted to get another good post out of you so I had to goad you into it.
But yes, very few countries view nationalism as badly as the US. We try to avoid it like the plague while trying to teach multiculturalism, but many other countries embrace it. Angela Merkel proclaimed that multiculturalism failed in Europe, so they are starting to swing back to nationalism (moreso than in the past). Eventually I'm sure the pendulum will swing back the other way though.

What is this 'we' kemosabe?
And, again, there's a good example of yet another problem that the US will more than likely ignore "until it swims up and bites him in the ###!" (45 HUMOR pts)
The farther you let a pendulum swing, the farther it's going to backlash.
I was thinking about this yesterday. The more you demonize the nature of something or the more you try to change something from what it actually is, the worse you will make the situation for all involved.
If you like cats, but have a dog, the dog will just seem more "doggy" the more you try to make it act like a cat. You'll see only the differences instead of the similarities as time goes on.
I think people are the same way. People, no matter where they are, tend, rather naturally, toward nationalism. Granted, nationalism must be tempered with respect because nationalism has been the root of some horrible points in history. But that's just what concerns me. If you try to push people into some idealistic hippie love fest the eventual backlash will be dangerous.
"Sure as I know anything, I know this - they will try again. Maybe on another world, maybe on this very ground swept clean. A year from now, ten? They'll swing back to the belief that they can make people... better. And I do not hold to that. So no more runnin'. I aim to misbehave."
