It's multiple ads; seems random which pseudo-search site it redirects her to in a lot of cases. (e.g. - just was using her computer to try and order the new Dark Eldar Codex; entered it into the Google toolbar and got brought to the normal Google search results. When I selected one it redirected me to some site saying "Looking for Dark Eldar products near such-and-such?" I hit "Back" and selected the search result again and this time it worked fine.)
"Nobody important? That's amazing. You know, in 900 years of traveling time and space I've never met someone who wasn't important."

Yeah, that's exactly what mine's been doing.
Well, starting point, what sort of anti-Malware stuff you got on the machine?

Usually it goes to such and such website that displays that and it is usually made by whoever created the adware.
Nope, motley assortment of different ads. Probably because the initial bit of Malware appears to be a downloader/security knockout, among other things.

I know she's got McAfee (though, as noted, she needs to renew it as she got hit by this thing the second it went into "Renewal Required" the other day...funny thing is she didn't go to any site that was particulary iffy and she's in the computers field so she's pretty good about security most times).
Spybot was tried.
Been getting mixed reviews on HiJack so I've avoided it so far.
Oh, and we tried Ad-Aware.
None of them seem to work so far.

Okay, I've been using Spyware Doctor and Symantec Antivirus and neither of them have been working. What (at least partially) worked was downloading Malwarebytes, renaming the installation file for it, and then renaming the actual executable file once installed and using it. Tracked down some nasty bots that had gotten in. Still hasn't fixed everything, but I'm working on it.

I was hit with a fairly nasty one a while back and then my WoW account got hacked. Blizzard suggested I download AVG freeware. They said it works different than McAfee so the two sort of compliment each other. I did so and while I've recently been hacked again via WoW, there's no way it's coming from my PC since I haven't logged in since the last hacking. Anyway, try AVG. It worked wonders for me.

All right, probably gonna look into this a little later.
