It appears I will have to work harder tonight to make up for my lack of help this day. I'll get better at this hero thing, I promise. I am now unsure of myself in a way I haven't been since I first left home. The fact that I am now doubting those I thought my ally is disconcerting.

If I remember correctly, Vamps have recruited a young female and an Genderless figure. The fact the first Vamp recruit was gendered makes me feel the second was a robot, or a ghostwrite.

____ Gangles crept along the edge of the rooftop as he gazed into the busy town square below. The townspeople had corned someone and were carrying him onto a wooden platform. In the middle of the platform an empty noose hung impatiently.

____ "For your crimes against Smiley Town, you are sentenced to death," said the plump, egg-looking King.

____ "Crimes..." repeated the man with the noose now snug around his neck. He was an older man with dark eyes and an aura to match. "I prevented crimes. The bloodsuckers and monsters are taking hold of this wretched place, and only order could have stopped them. We needed to come together, as a community, and make Smiley Town great again. Chaos is not the answer, hanging people is not the answer."

____ "But stabbing people with a trident is okay?"

____ "They weren't people."


____ "I've heard enough," shouted a skinny man from the back of the crowd. "Let him hang."

____ "Wait!" A woman rushed forward out of the crowd. She had long white hair and black streaks. Tradesman stumbled to get out of her path. "He is my brother," said the woman. "Do not attempt to harm him, or I shall make you pay." The same dark aura in the older man began to rise out from the woman.

____ A bullet to the head ended that. She fell off the platform and onto the stone floor.


____ A merchant in the audience put his gun back into its holster. "You were saying, King?"

____ The egg King nodded and pulled a lever as a small trap opened underneath the older man. He squirmed and choked, trying to sway the noose. It didn't take very long for his legs to stiffen and his neck to swell. His eyes bulged out like a squished bug as he stared horrified at the corpse of his sister.

____ "No more outsiders," said the King.

____ "No more outsiders," said the crowd.


____ Gangles ran.
