I never had any personal experience with him, and almost no one in this thread did, but yet he left an awful taste in people's mouths, and left with a horrid reputation, and regardless of what he did or didn't do,as a PR person that's the worst crime he could commit.
Leave's become most beautiful when they're about to die
Tuttle used Heroclix to pad his resume and then moved on before all hell broke loose. Smart guy.
He cared about one thing - Number One. Even after all of this time, I am glad that he is gone. He was a disappointment and a used car salesman. That's how he will be remembered.
By a select group of malcontents. I think he is mostly misunderstood. His attitude wasn't great but I also believe he had the best interests of HeroClix at heart.
What I really can't grasp here is why now and why at all is this still being discussed? Seriously people...HeroClix has just been saved from the brink of extermination and all some of you can do is revert to type and start complaining, whining, and bashing people that have nothing to do with the game at this point...nor have they for awhile.

When he was off the floor he was actually a rather nice guy. He loosened up a bit and calmed down. I saw many times at Envoy Appreciation Nights where all he wanted to do was share a look at some of these cool new toys he was helping to bring to us. He had enthusiasm for the game. He didn't try to destroy it...he actually saved it. Heroclix was stagnating for a long time before Mark and Seth breathed new life into it.

The Devil was misunderstood too.
If we don't remember the bad things of the past we are doom to repeit it. This could be useful to prevent any other person even close to Tuttle way to be to get near Heroclix.
Tuttle' name is cursed by MANY every time is remember. (But I should point out that I don't know how many still suport him and how many strongly dislike him).

Those who cannot remember the past are Dr. Doomed to repeat it.
Much of what I'd write has been written, but I'll emphasize the following:
I'm sure there were many decisions that Mark Tuttle was "forced" into unwillingly. For example, I cannot believe that as Brand Manager he would have pulled support from a gaming convention for minor presence at a Star Wars convention. (when was this... 2006?).
My negative opinion of him is from his inability to "talk straight" with folks:
Does anybody truly believe that WK opened several cases of Avengers and didn't notice that the dials were incredibly hard to turn...yet he was on the WK forums promoting them as the best thing ever! I can understand trying to save face, but this was simply absurd.
Another absurdity: denying that dials from certain sets "blacken". This was another case of something that was quite obvious, and there were plenty of people offering examples...and yet his response was again "I don't see any problem." De' Nile ain't just a river in Egypt!
My least favorite personal interaction was with him at an envoy appreciation night, when he was hinting about getting rid of REVs (and adding chases) because "there was no value in the old boosters". I stood up and told him that I had just traded in something like $100 worth of figures, almost all of it in yellow/blue/red ring figures. His response to me was "No you didn't."
WTF kind of response is that?! Was his reality so threatened that he actually had to accuse me of lying?
On the topic of Karl's removal as RA: I've not been shy about my opinion that it was time for Karl to move on...he'd been the RA for over two years, and AP was ready for some new blood....but instead of just "firing" Hair10 and offering a reasonable excuse, the entire affair turned into an unnecessarily vindictive episode.
Tuttle talked John Cleese out of making a second season of Fawlty Towers.
Tuttle carved out a hole in the ozone layer with a helicopter and 50,000 cans of hairspray.
Tuttle kicks dogs and bites babies on the nose for fun. And occasionally mixes it up by doing it the other way round.
That big pothole on your road? Tuttle, a jackhammer and an hour's free time.
I KNEW IT!!!
Tut may not have talked John Cleese out of anything, but he did talk WK out of being an industry innovator and into a "following the pack" mentality.
Tut may not have damaged the Earth's atmosphere, but he did damage the atmosphere of HeroClix's Approved Play.
Tuttle may not kick dogs or bite babies but his taste in sculpts certainly bites. You can't use a sneak peak to entice players to buy if the figures look like ####.
Tuttle may not have dug a hole in the road but he certainly dug himself into a hole he couldn't get out of.
His job was to make money and make customers happy. Did HeroClix gain more players or lose players during his reign? I do know Topps wasn't happy enough with the game to envelop it into their own operations - they just cut it loose.
Visible Dials and Pushing Damage need to be optional. This is the way.

Carlos,
Have you ever met the man face to face? If you did would you tell him how you feel about him? Would you call him Satan to his face?
What would be doomed to repeat? Saving the game from stagnation and cancellation?
Seriously, some of you have only "met" him online in his posts. Some of the things attributed to him are not even owned by him. You would think that as much as many of you post on internet forums some would think that maybe you are misunderstanding his tone.
Dax I don't doubt the possibility that he was good for Clix. I still dislike a PR man who has trouble reaching a major portion of his consumers.
He was not really a PR man. He was a Brand Manager. He, and many people in similar situations, have not had to contend with an angry inter-mob before in these types of positions. His job was to make HeroClix make money. He did that by making it a better game.

If I meet him I would ask him if he know about my and others opinions about him. of course he will deny everything like he always did. And call him the Devil of Heroclix could make him even feel better and more important about himself, but I still could say that to him but I would like to do something more creative to show my dislike about him or do nothing in all because he is not a good person enough to care about the game we love or good enough to apology at least online and much less in person.
