Exploit Weakness and Psychic Blast are more likely to be the prerequisite for feats aswell, because they're more specific than Outwit.
This is factually, 100% wrong.
While it's possible I missed one or two feats, there are currently four feats that require Outwit (Dissent, Thwart, Brilliant Tactician, Outsmart), two feats that require Exploit Weakness (Skullduggery, Disintegrate), and zero feats that require Psychic Blast.
I'm in Providence! I've been out of the hobby, but I'm looking for Saturday gaming. Send me a PM if you know the down-low!
Totally off topic, and maybe I'm just really tired right now, but Termin8r and Perpexinator should be forbidden from posting together in the same thread. Too many 'aters.
You can never have enuff 'aters just ask Dr Doofenshmirtz
He makes one every episode.
I do like the idea someone else suggested somewhere else on this forum.
If you outwit Impervious, the character can use Invulnerability. If you outwit Invulnerability, the character can use Toughness.
Defense abilities are going to be worth jack in the modern format without feats to protect them (unless you have Power Cosmic or Q).
My problem with that idea is that it would mean nearly every character with <3 damage would NEED to have Armor Piercing to be effective.

About time that someone mentioned this.
Situationally, Exploit Weakness or Enhancement are more useful than Outwit/Perplex.* However, in the long haul, Outwit/Perplex ARE more versatile. Like, zero_cochrane mentioned though, there is also the cost to factor in.
Look at it this way. Impervious is better than Invulnerability and much better than Toughness (and unlike the initially complained about powers, has the exact same game function) and YET people still play characters with Invulnerability or Toughness.
The reasons are simple:
1) "Lesser" powers are also cheaper powers. In most cases, the more figures that you can fit on to a team, the better. Sometimes that means making do with Thor and his Invulnerability instead of Superman and his Impervious.
2) Character choice matters to some players. I play Heroclix because I am a comic book nerd and I like to make teams featuring my favorite characters. It's nice to have my main attacker to be protected by Imperv and to have Outwit and Perplex on my team, but I build fun teams with characters I like so having those powers present is not my primary concern.
3) Especially in the case of Outwit/Perplex vs Exploit Weakness/Enhancement you DO get different strategic options available to you because of the different powers. (GL/Hawkeye Enhancement-fueled Trick Shot cannons anyone?) Heroclix is actually a very versatile game and offers a lot more flexibilty in terms of game play and strategic options than most minis games that I've seen.
*In some situations Exploit Weakness is MUCH more useful than Outwit. Every figure on your team can have Outwit and it won't do a darn thing for you against the likes of NGN (Batman Ally) Superman or Ms. Skrull-vel with Deep Shadows down. Or when fighting ANY Power Cosmic/Quintessence character.

I believe Dr. Doofenshmirtz is working on his "De-Cheese-inator" which takes heroclix teams and removes the cheese aspect and replaces it with a team full of AV patriot!
thus allowing him to win every clix tournament in the TRI STATE AREA!!!!

I find exploit weakness/psychic blast handy in situations where outwit simply won't work, ( power cosmic/quintessence for example ). Enhancement is just a nifty tool, I haven't used it a lot but I haven't gotten the chance to tool around with it either.
I'm just laughing inside because this thread has actually received 6 pages of replies. Everyone who has stated common sense answers is on the money. The initial post was ridiculous and the power sets are balanced.
I'm sure someone has said this, I'm just way too lazy to read through 6 pages of stuff. Here are a few reasons that Exploit Weakness/Psychic Blast are overly useful in their own right. You can't Outwit a Power Cosmic/Quinetessence Defense. On a very small side example, you can't outwit Ulik's Defense power. You can charge/Running shot around a wall then EW/PB a target. You cant Charge/RS around a wall then outwit and attack with the same figure.
Now about enhancement. You can only perplex 1 figure at a time. 1 Enhancer can ideally up the damage values of 8 different characters if placed correctly. Thats the equivilent of having 8 perplexers using them on damage.
I think a better way of saying it is - try to play without outwit and perplex haha
I make teams with no Outwit and Perplex all the time. I seem to do well enough. At max I usually have 1 outwit and usually 2 MAYBE 3 perplexes, but generally no perplexes at all. If I do, its by accident... Or its my Batman Enemy Team...
It's ok... your response was more civil so you get points for that.
In your defense, the OP said he "laughs at you". Due to his poor understanding of the rules of course. So I think it's ok to laugh at him, hubris-wise.
I use to play magic competitively, and the thing that I hated most about the game, were "strictly better than" cards.
For example: in Heroclix, having two figures worth the same amount of points, having the same name, same key words, same sculpt, but one has all the abilities of the first, just better stats.
No one would use the first one.
Well - the same thing has happened to the abilities in heroclix!!! And I want an explanation.
If we have outwit - why do I ever want exploit weakness? It is a strictly worse ability. In fact, outwit is over 4 times better because it can nullify any ability (or team ability). Not only that- It is also in the damage spot!
The same goes with psychic blast. Just give me outwit.
---->Way to resolve it? Outwit does not work on defense powers. Done.
What about Enhancement? When I first saw that zatanna had it, i was like "THIS IS SO COOL". And I put her next to green arrow and watched the damage fly!
Then I realized...wait a minute... enhancement is a WORSE than perplex! wtf!
So why....why would I ever want that.
Please keep in mind that I am speaking from a "gaming" point of view, not "flavor". Because - you can make the argument "well war machine shouldn't have outwit... it's not flavorful" . And I would agree. Thus - you see the problem. Wizkids needs to fix or re-adjust some of these powers to stop this horrible over lapping.
(while they are at it - tell them to nurf hypersonic speed)
Let me just put it out there - a team of hypersonic speed and outwit is all you need!
I'm with MattMinus on this...your Noob is showing.
First of all, Psychic Blast/Exploit Weakness are nothing like Outwit. Outwit is designed to outsmart, trick, or distract your opponent into not being able to do what he had planned. Spidey-sense! (Super Senses), no problem, just distract him as you're attacking, and you hit him.
Exploit Weakness and Psychic Blast are designed to represent blows that can penetrate armor and extremely dense skin scructures.
Would it make you happy if Outwit couldn't counter damage reducers?
Enhance is completely different from Perplex. Perplex is supposed to show a character being able to change someone's probability of doing something based on a cunning remark or action, and enhance is more to show that they can do "something" to increase the damage you're about to inflict. ("Here. Take these depleted uranium rounds" or "Aim for the throat").
Also, Enhance is nota free action that you can use only once per turn like Perplex, it works continuously, so if I have one Enhancer and multiple ranged attackers, guess what, they ALL get the +1 damage...
As for Hypersonic Speed, they DID nurf it...TWICE...first they took away full range and gave them half range, then they took away option two which would have allowed Flash to do up to 5 damage in a single attack, or Superman 8.
The rules are how they are for a reason. The rest of us like them. Why don't you?
------------------
Bottom line:
I'll take my team of Unleashed Vet Green Lantern carrying his 6 Gotham City Detectives and 2 Roy Harper LEs over your team of Outwit and Perplex any day.
How much can you take, and keep moving forward?
The Green Lantern Corps is DC's version of the US Marine Corps.
I was wrong, he was actually on here just this morning. Oh well, I didn't feel like reading through the 6 pages of replies, and I hadn't been in the thread since about page 2-3 myself.
Yeah, he's probably covering that up really well........oooopppsss too late.....
