Watched it with the kids the other night. Think I liked it better the 1st time around. Willem Dafoe was awesome though.
The Prestige
Watched it with the whole family last night. Enjoyed it quite a bit, though I had to do some explaining to the whole family about certain things in the movie.
Trade to Canada. We're friendly, and we love Beavers..........
Is this the Venom thing? I'm at work so I don't really feel like clicking the link.
If so, I liked it. I'm a huge Brock fan, and while I imagine Brock a little beefier than that guy, I think they got the personality right which was a treat. Like it says in the interview, I like that they dropped this over-the-top, abrasive/psychotic guy into an otherwise normal gritty world.
It wasn't action packed, but I thought it was American Psycho enough to do a full film of. I loved it when the symbiote came out.
Marvel would never sign off on it, but with a little work, you could have an Indy-film of a completely unbalanced "minor" Superhuman villain.
I know there's not many of us out there anymore, but I am a fan of the Found Footage/Documentary style movies. So that made it more fun for me as well.

Cloverfield. Such a great movie.

The cast of unrecognizable (at least for me) characters really made that movie. It was easier to see the movie as actual people running for their lives than, say, Brad Pitt running from a monster.
Elysium...I really wanted to like it, but it just didn't have the heart of District 9. Pacing was way off, tried jamming way too much into the movie. Overall theme was way too hamfisted.
I think if they would have cut out Jodie Foster's role and her distracting French? accent, they could have focused more on story and character development.
Visuals were great, Action sequences were good, fight scenes weren't. Sharlto Copley kind of saved the film a bit in my eyes, even if his scenes were over the top he was still entertaining. Fichtner wasn't bad either.
6/10 I think, it might drop to a 5, wasn't "bad" just not all that memorable.
Saw planes this weekend with my daughter. It was her first movie in a movie theater.
Overall I liked it and thought it was pretty good. I do have one small complaint though. The TopGun reference was to muted. Yes those were Goose and Iceman's helmets on them, but they didn't talk enough or use any good phrases as little easter eggs.
They do recreate 'Cougar and Mav' coming in for a landing. However I thought they could have squeeked in 'I feel the need, the need for speed' or 'It's time to buzz the tower/Negative XXX the pattern is full'. Would have loved to hear that.
Still, pretty good all around (but I did always want to be a pilot, so...).
