what are people thinking of the sinister six prize kit?
I think it's fine. I understand the fuss about them, but I disagree with it. All three pieces have game mechanics that aren't especially common, so I think people really need to see how they actually play before writing them off.
I think that once people see Mysterio's bystanders using the SinSyn TA to make attacks, or see Mysterio masterminding damage off to bystanders he can create more of, opinions will change. He's ridiculously cheap, too.
A character with Rhino's power set probably shouldn't have a base 16 defense, but Invuln is nice no matter what your values are. And how many other characters can hit for 6 damage without the aid of lights/heavies or a bunch of Perplex? And for 90 points?
And people are already finding ways to make Ock a monster. After he takes the power action to take those tokens off, the hits are free. So he can take the tokens off and then be carried in...to attack four times. Disgusting.

I like them.
I think most people with a decent understanding of the game realize that Mysterio is going to be excellent for the points. Unless you're packing precision strike, he's pretty hard to kill, and incap that doesn't count against your action total is very strong.
Rhino is pretty good for the points. He'll likely get to pull off a full-move charge once, swing for 6, and then get pounded on in retaliation, but for an 80 point character, I don't know what else people would expect.
Ock has the highest potential of the three, but he has a glass jaw and requires additional investment in other characters to get him mobile enough to achieve that potential.

What's "tortured" about it?

Funny you should mention that. I was going through some old message earlier, and came across one that mentioned that a Sinister Six Fast Forces pack had been suggested at one point, and then rejected because someone thought it wouldn't sell.

Probably because WK would only put 5 figures in the Sinister Six and only 4 of those would share a keyword.
