If you scored ....
- positive 22 or more: You are a true burcs! A pog-tossin', VTOL swarmin', tank-droppin', cheese warrior. You play to win and expect others to be competitive, and feel that any less is a sign of inferiority just like Mechs on the Battlefield. Cheese is a term others use on whatever you use to kick their rear.
Man, just made it into the burcs category! I really wish I could use more Mechs . . . they just don't win very often!
I don't mind losing if I expected to lose and in those circumstances, winning is so much more satisfying!!
Scrub is actually quite an insulting term but I'm glad everyone has a sense of homour about it. (even me!!) :)
Just because you field cheese doesn't make you good!! If two men stood in a boxing ring and one had an arm strapped to his body and the man using two arms wins handily, does that mean the two armed boxer is a better boxer? (Not aimed at anyone in particular before the flames start).
I usually prefer to play the game I think they should have designed. Doesn't mean I cannot play the game we got lumbered with. However I'll never be "good" because there are not enough different (competitive) players round my neck of the woods. Too localised.
I noticed that the more competitive our venue gets, the quicker people decide they would rather play something else. When we all get scrubby again then new players join (or rejoin). But of course competitive play is what keeps the game alive, right? Errm... Or is it killing it? One or the other. ;)
I have to say though Will, I am not digging the whole Spirit Cats -1 thing. I can sum up why we should at least be above the Highlanders in two words:
Arnis
Donar
Back when I played tournaments there was these strange creatures that had the deck/army/whatever that were considered the real thing. Some of then knew how to play with the thing, most didn't. Mirror maches, boring maches, you name it, all in the strange logic of win or else.
There was this guy that everybody loved, he would come always with something different. Half the time he would lose. Pridefull. But when he won, it was for a nice, incredible and very creative combination of aspects.
One day, when FFE come out he played a tournament game with me and he had fielded 3 snipers and some infantry and I've got the idea that it was interesting. Problem is I couldn't roll less that 14 on the dice so, good as it might be his army, I blow it away.
I always play to win. But should have I won this one?
So what is the most insulting term Scrub our bursc?
3) teach in detail what tactical mistakes your opponents made (+2)
4) Tank drop is just totally lame! (-1)
5) a Locust (-5)
6) - charge with my restarted Mech (-1)
7) run your locust(s) up the field (-4)
8) are the best (-3)
9) Those guys who win those tournaments are not only good army builders, but good players too (+2)
- negative 11 to 21: You are a moderate scrub. You feel anything's better than fielding cheese. You hate cheese and will never play anything resembling cheese. You think VTOLs are cheese, artillery is cheese, ATVs are cheese, and Arnis too! You think cheese players should get a life, and never bother your "fun" venue at all. Besides, cheese isn't fun, and the game is all about fun, and MECHS!!
Better being called a scrub than a fanboy ;-
that word just ticks me off.
1. Clan Jade Falcon
2. a big fatt mech with support
3. trade
4. tankdrop is lame
5. One-Eyed Jack
6. go final DFA
7. walk mech to water
8. have terrible heat dial
9. those championships suck
Actually, I think with the new Highlander units it's now at +1. I think they're the 3rd best faction behind DF and Liao. I think the reason I kept it at 0 is because most HL pure players I know are scrubs. And I mean scrub in both attitude and play style.
Spirit Cats would be 0 if ONLY they had a cap3 transport or a half-way decent artillery. :p

i think your right about the majority of HL pure players. But, there is one element of MW we have all fogotten which may be relevant to scrub or burcs ness.
What units are in your collection?
Do you only have units that are competitive or do you you collect complete factions.
personally i want at least 1 of each HL unit even though i will never use a certain unit.
Does that make me a bursc or a scrub or a wargamer or a "plastic crack head" (sorry PCH is probably innappropiate)

The JF have murderous artillery, good infantry and some solid(ish) mechs. Plus the faction abilities. :)

I am happy to say that I have played every Liao unit at least once!! All except for the Blade, P-Hawk, Jas Philos, Flavio Rodriguez (don't have it) and Aniceto Tuvido.
Okay, maybe it's not that impressive after all. But I did go 3-0 with "The Vede." Boo yah!
