Since magic freeze looks like it now does base damage, if there was no 50/50 roll that would be broken. Doing 5 damage and giving an action token is abit too much without the 50/50 chance.
But 2.0 just made my water minion Leathal. surge and sweep for 3 damage, dodge and 18 defence, which can be pumped up to 20 defence with a domain that makes the field shallow water, and can freeze for 4 damage.
That's true I did say I was going to stick to the clan forum, but I just can't resist correcting people.
F/L says only if the attack hits to compare the attack to those in b2b with the target
MagicLevitation works only if the warrior hasn't been given an action (thanks Kenntak I forgot to mention this in my last post).
MagicEnhancement caps at +3 unless you want to have more just to get past damage reduction.
So a few Classic MK SA's didn't undergo much of a change, some I am glad for, some I am not.
I didn't say I was quitting. I said I would not play the game under these rules. Which means I will make my own rules adjustments and those that my fellow players and I deem unbalanced will be examined and reworded to avoid whatever imbalance we find.
Army: You're right, a lot has become more playable, I love the new game, but why only give me $10 back when there's an easy way to give me $15? They should be going all out to make the game better for new and OLD players as much as possible.
Barrel: Storyline? Factions was one thing, at least it was an ok cover if you didn't really care. But flying? I remember my figures had legs the last time I checked... wait... oh WK u... my IMP WILL WALK AGAIN!
Ok, now that I can type again... MK1 SAs are just fine, with a few minor exceptions. The fact is, most were changed - some toned down - to keep them balanced. I'm ok with that and most people are, as well.

Ah... right, because you know how to make a better game than WK. Sure... why didn't I think of that. Well you let me know how your version of MK2 goes... and we'll see whose game is broken quicker.
Hell, I think my little cousin could have made the game better (when it comes to 1.O compatibility) then MK is. I dont think its that hard.
Flight=Storyline? What the hell? Things with wings can walk if they want to. Its simple. Its obvious. I see birds do it all the time. Why cant they do it in 2.O?
No need to flame each other guys. Stick to the discussion about 2.0 not about each other.
I'm excited about the new rules and I think my group and I will have a good time trying to break them :) All in all I see November and December being some good months full of MK Goodness. This is the first time I've bought a case of MK and I can't wait till it arrives so I can sort through all the goodies. Every figure I get finds a use :)
I have no intent on flaming anyone, I simply use names to refer as to where I located the comment. Makes things simple and allows people to exchange ideas more directly. Now if I started )(@)#*%#@% then the flaming would begin, though on the subject of 2.0 everyone's just flaming WK lol.
I have said this before, as a standalone game without any preconceptions or notions about MageKnight the latest set of rules goes a long way toward game balance and realism, brings many new interesting elements to the table, and has many more wonderfull sculpts.
I personally (and there are some that agree with me) think that more could have been done to make the "old" MK warriors and SA's work well in this new game. It is this advertisement of compatability at which I scoff, and those that blindly tout the absolute perfection or ruination of the rules.
did anyone else notice the funky terrian in the book? will we now have to play with terrian like taht instead of the CD sized standard terrian. or will we see things like this "to aid in reprocuction the size of this template is the same as a garden variety rock"
Personally, I like the rules. I like the domain cards. I like the objective tokens. I want my MDFs, titans and castle supported.
I would have liked to have my old MK1.0 factions translated to the new MK2.0 factions (heck, just rename the original major factions and say that old MK1.0 figs are single faction). But, since most players were mixing and matching figures from any faction, it has ZERO impact on gameplay. Only faction-pure players are effected by this, and conceptually, they are not (only that they can't do certain formation combos).
I'd also like to say, if you think you can build a better game, then where is it? What's your market share? Ah, that's right, you don't have market share. The point is this. You can fractionalize the game by making variants. You won't get anyone but a small minority to buy in. Therefore you are wasting your efforts. This is why people buy Microsoft and use MS-Office. It takes a lot of effort, money and luck to get a product out and to do well. You can try to tear someone else's work down, or you can try making it yourself. Since you will have a 90% chance of failing in your own project, I suggest you find a way to redirect your energy to something positive.
A lot of people have been complaining about flyers not being able to turn off flight. One person mentioned that they see birds walk all the time. Well, you see birds hop. They don't walk. That's not their normal mode of transportation. They fly. Think about it. Do birds fly or hop(walk) at the same speed? So why should a MK figure with flight be able to walk at the same speed that it can fly? That is what doesn't make sense.
I don't think that they shouldn't be able to move on land at all though. I think that maybe there should be the ability where if they turn flight off, then their movement is halved. Wouldn't that be more realistic?
