I think we got around 20 each time we had a PCQ in NY/PA/NJ...
Which is probably the high for PCQs across the nation. We averaged in the 20-30s also but with a national average of probably 10, I think people should be able to understand why UDE cut the PCQ program.
I still think they should have just dropped the $250 and kept them around but it points to the possibility of the demise of the PC system as a whole.
However, there is still that need for mid-level tournament support.
Instead of shelling out $250 everywhere, we just have a torunment held 4 times a year, were the only prizes EA's and PLAYMATS.
Not to mention the super fun awsome chance to have your face on a card.
If your deck is "intresting" enough.
If the R&D player is good enough (The same people who around MMK aid there is a killer SF/F4 Deck that should be beating every other deck. Yeah, that sure happened!)
And then, if sucessful, you get to have your face on a card that may not even matter. Thats right, you can have your face on the next Dr. Tzin-Tzin. Hows all that sound for winning the only compeditive tournament available to you if you dont have a high enough rating or enough PC points currently?
So if the national average was 10, you almost doubled it. Good job.
Except it's still 17 people. Not the 30-40 people I assume they wanted, by squeezing everyone into on tournament. Well, surprise surprise, guess it didn't happen.
I seriously doubt they are going to make any PCQ's. I think taking away money support would of been one of their first ideas as that is one of the most obvious. Yet they didn't go with it. Why? Well, I assume they looked at the City Championchips out in Europe and said hey, why not use it here.
Except that they only played it in Europe because thats all they had. They lost their PCQ's WAY before us. We didn't care because they didn't consern us. Karma comes to bite you back hard, dont it?
Well, it'd been two months since the PCQ's got cansled, and I hope that when they see that the CC's haven't been doing steller, they will re-enstate the PCQs. Or just remove the PC. Either or.
we really need some kind of high level tournament.
without the 10ks and other thigns going on............well its kinda dead here, and in other places.
no events to look forward too to go to, or to read up coverage and see how freinds are doing in them.........leads to me not caring as much.
also it showcases decks, yes i net deck all day and night, and like to see what people come up with, i miss large events for those as well.
also what i miss most is the well serious play of the events, you would have the few idiots running Xstatic Darkseid because he "saw" a synergy, but for the most part people came there and brought there A games. You got to play against people from across the region and not the same 8 from hobby league.
also the best of best were there as well, and well i liked getting to test wits against well known pros.
what i miss most about the large events were the planning for them, making travel plans, testing, getting cards, brainstorming to try to win.
Hey American Maid, in that picture it looks like you are absolutely kicking that guy's @ss. He's all slumped back with what looks to be a non-existant board. What's the story?

Poor guy, My deck actually worked that game! Of course his deck didn't come out much! I think he had just missed a drop! He was a nice guy and a good sport though! I think it was his first "big" tournament!
Here is your update. Buy more product you ungrateful little bastards and we might keep printing the game.
Sell more of our product for us you ungrateful little bastards, because we spent all the advertising money some where else and we won't listen when Kariggi offers us free advertising advice or avenues, despite over 15 years of experience in media and entertainment.
Really all of your posts and emails are just becoming an annoyance to us and we're taking a break to regroup, you ungrateful little bastards.
I mean come on get off our backs, we made a great game, its your fault for not buying more and telling more folks about it, you ungrateful little bastards.
...and we're typing it up as you read this you ungrateful little bastards.
"...we were supposed to advertise..."
"Yeah how else would people know about our great product and $1,ooo,ooo pro circuit."
"uh huh, and who exactly was supposed to do this?"
"um the guys in advertising."
"oh whew, that's good at least we're off the hook, hey we don't have an advertising department....do we?"
"hell who knows, I'm sure someone else is handling it, lets go play a game of cards."
"ok cool."
[edit]sorry guys I fully expect to go up in flame for this, but I couldn't stop myself.
I hear you Kariggi I went off the deep end before to. I think that the simple thing you are saying is that UDE has not done there part to help the game grow. On the other hand The Player base as a hole was Primarily ALL Pro based players from other games. In that being said some time the player can instead of being a positive face of the game and they may have been bad embassador of are lovely game.
That was kinda hard to read, but I belive you said that the pros were bad ambassadors to the game?
How many card games have you played?
The pros in this game are BY FAR the NICEST people in any other game I have played to date. From what I hear, most pros are more than willing to offer help and help people play the game if they ask nicely enough for it.
My friends and I sometimes go to PA to play in some events. There we see Kim C., Billdoor, and some other pros, and they have always been the nicest people we've met and I have nothing but a huge amount of respect for them.
Go ahead and try to talk to the magic pros. See what happens. Hell, try to ask the regulars in your store to teach you to play magic. If your lucky, they'll tell you to buy a starter and read the rules. If you are VERY lucky, they will take the time and teach you how to play.
But usually they would probably tell you to go the hell away and let them draft. The amount of dumbass-ness was one of the reasons I got out of magic. Not everyone was a jerk, but many of them were. Too many.
This is one of the reasons I am peeved. They are screwing over nice people, and I don't like it one bit.

this is all gone now.
QFT!!! BEST STATEMENT YET! My exact feelings. I could not say it any better. Thanks for posting that. It makes me feel better to know some one feels 100% the same way I do about the whole thing. Just 10ks or even 5ks if they wanted to really cut back would please me. That and some other small events to test with. Rep for you.
"Oh, this is just like hobby league, right? I'll bring my Hellfire/checkmate deck. What's this? People I have never saw before, and probably never will again until next time there is a CC here has shown up, and are good players/have decent decks. Oh no, I'm losing! Worst time at a hobby league ever! Maybe it's because its the only "serious" QUOTE tournament UNQUOTE [NO I did not mess up doing html]."
