How come nobody ever mentions invader of darkness
its not a terrible card, 8 star, i think 2900, and a no quick play for your opponent effect. Go anti scape goat and Book of moon or mystic wok.
And it can easily be revived with Puppet magic of Dark ruler
Captain Char- (love the name, BTW) One thing to think about with your Fiend/Normal deck is that you can seriously abuse the potential of Skill Drain. It wont affect your monsters. This could be a serious advantage against all those powerful effects on Weenie atk monsters. It will also allow you to pick up something like an Orc, which will provide a little more muscle for your buck. The biggest problem for it would be the possible countering of effects for your own Tributes, Necrofear and Ha Des. But, I still think it could be useful for the double duty it gives to Giant Orcs. Either Orc doesnt switch to defense or it does. One way gives you a powerful field presence, the other ..... well...Necrofear!
Order to Charge is a quickplay you should examine closer. It can be used to destroy an opponent's monster that is just too big or stubborn for your Normals to handle. It will also take advantage of your swarming via 2 Man Cell Battle.
3 Cell Battles may be too much. If you are aiming at Advanced Format, remember that you wont be facing nearly as much s/t removal. Chances are, you will have one stuck in your hand while another is already active.
Same thing with Dark Factory. While the combo with Cell Battle is cool, your monsters are already solid enough to go ahead and bring out fast via Premature, and not have to go the extra step. Soul Ressurrection is cool, though. Another one would be better as its like having 3 CotH.
Normally I would not care for 2 Mystic Plama Zones. But here, since your monsters are mainly at 1800, it makes since. Still, I think you should consider at least one change of at least the Dark Blades.
Thats enough for now. I dont want to totally rework it, as I think there are several fun and interesting things going on already.
hope it helps.
CardmasterCD- Did you really start at Page 1???? Brrr, i dont know if I could have done that

I also think Last Will works with Winged Minion but in a different way.Activate Last Will and then sacrifice WM and get another WM for 1400 more points!BTW can 1 LW effect activate more than once per turn?
Yep. I think that I have had more success running 2 WM over just one. And there are so many variations for abusing WM+Necrofear+Last Will+RFDD+etc.
And only one monster per LW. I get the feeling you are looking at the text of a pre-errata'd LW, which wasnt worded as clearly.
As for MPZ, I do have 1 side decked in my Greedfiend deck. But on the whole I dont care for it. I would rather get a 500 boost from Flamberge or other Black Pendant than use the field card. The reason is that, with my playstyle, I get more use out of "extra" effects. A simple powerboost isnt really worth the card space that I could use for other things. Plus, while many of my monsters may be Dark types, so may many of my opponent's monsters. Dark Attributes are one of the most popular Attributes after all. So, there is a good chance you may end up helping your opponent too.
And then for Invader, it is waayy underrated. Its one of my preferred Fiends. Its not easy to get out, but I love using it and DMoC as my only Tributes in a deck that really does center around getting them out and, if necessary, getting them out again and again. But I like it underrated. Waldo's got Necrofear, but I enjoy that big hulking monster standing behind me, ready to pop you in the jaw. :p
BTW, all. Y'all are not going to be seeing much of anything out of me for a while. I just signed up for a crash course Master's degree program that starts this Saturday. I will try and check in to read the updates, but I probably wont be spending the time to write these long replies.
Still...
...Big Daddy~ will be watching. You can be sure of that. ;)
ByserSquid....MUCH props to you on starting your masters degree! I'm trying to do the same but just haven't put enough oomph into studying and taking my GRE. You bring me additional inspiration to get serious about my studies.
In regards to Invader of Darkness, I think what it boils down to is tribute cost for it. Most of your fiend decks are just so tasty with Dark Ruler, Mefist, and Summoned Skull only requiring 1 tribute to get out on the field. Focusing on these monsters gives you little room to add another that costs and extra tribute to stop quickplay spell cards.
I'm just too stingy nowadays with my tributes. My old earth deck ran all 7 Star or Higher monsters (there just weren't that many good 5/6 stars at the time). After becoming fiendish and having all this power with little cost in the fiends, going up to a double trib just for attack power seems so expensive. I'd rather give my Mefist or Dark Ruler an Axe of Despair and let 3450 go running amok 8^D
The prospect of a focus on Invader of Darkness DOES INDEED look promising. Especially with a Trio of Skull Knight #2s in there (I really like them), you could get some serious potential out of it.
Well there's my 10 bits. Keep wreaking havoc, all you Fiendish duelists out there!

Yo everybody, I was just wondering; ''Have any of you guys attended a regionals yet?*yes, i'm talking about using a fiend deck in the advanced format*''
If any of you did, tell me HOW you did..........
sigh, this is the curse of living in Guatemala. the only time I get to play in a face to face sanctioned tournament is when I visit home in the summers and winter breaks. (other than that, its great)
I will say that last August, I went to 7 different tournaments at different stores from Tampa, Florida up to Wilmington NC, plus SC and my home state of GA. Considering I was absolutely a nobody at all these places and this was before bans, I was pretty happy with the overall results. my worst showing was 12th out of 52 and my best was 3rd out of 30 something. The 3rd place, I will admit came from my opponent making very arrogant and stupid moves because of his Chaos deck.
But mainly it was Chaos I lost too, as well. That and several MS/OTK decks.
Deck of choice for 4 of these shows was Zombie-Meta deck, the other 3 was a Necrofear Beatdown. Those were the only 2 decks I had taken to the States at the time.
I say this so that everyone will accept my comments and suggestions with a grain of salt. It has been a while since Ive gotten to compete with anyone I dont also teach the game to. So, my actual competitive skills are rusty to say the least.
I haven't been to regionals yet, but the Vegas ones are coming up next week. Ironically enough, the only experience I amass is from all the reading online and my own brainstorming.
I'm seriously considering competing in the regional, if anything only to get experience. I want to go and do the Judge Level 2 certification, but I'm not sure if A) Somebody will be there for that, the site hints either here or in San Diego, B) I can compete and judge (volunteer if they'll have me), and C) If an "older" duelist has a place in these things. 8^D
If I did go, I'd refine my FienDillie-O: The Banner of Evil deck, now that a second Axe of Despair has become available and I could probably pick up a quick Necrofear either online or at WalMart (they've started doing those promos again). So we'll see 8^D
I actually went to the San Diego regionals last week, I did fairly good placing at about top 50... My main losses came from people top decking Soldier. I've since revised the deck to handle such..."luck". I'm going to be play testing it until Anaheim.

Awww, that is so sad. ^_^ *Gives squid a big hug and kiss*
But honestly squid...for someone of your expertise, never placing better than third is just shocking!! Especially when you consider that you were using a Zombie-Meta deck in a pre-ban setting. Dark Balter pwned in those days. But I don't blame you for not living in the U.S. When I graduate High School I leaving the US....Now that Bush was re-elected the United States is going to go to ####. I'll probably find refuge in one of America's territories (The Bahamas yay!) Or maybe Hawii...to meet "the all knowledgable (who gave my computer a virus with his stupid ygo pc game)" Edo. ^_^

Gee Des, you make it sound like you'll be safe from Bush if you just leave the U.S. Though I suppose Hawaii and the Bahamas aren't areas he pays a whole lot of attention too.

Well, thanks for the vote of support (I think^_^). I think my biggest failing was in only visiting each tournament place once. I looked for stores that were close to the route I was traveling on vacation. If I had studied the local scene closer and examined the play style of each place, I have no doubt I would have done better.
Back in the days of MRD it was more about how the cards were layed down, rather than what cards you had. You might say that the Chaos days showed that too. You could play the same deck but with different opponents. One might play predictably and be easy to defeat while the other surprises you.
Hopefully, upon my permanent return to the States (ETA: 2yrs) I will be able to get more into the rhythm and make a better showing. Still, that 3rd place was after a solid year of no competitive play. So, I am still happy with the fact that I didnt totally bomb out. :p
Moral of the story:
Study every player in your area, people. The ones that are constantly in the top 10 and those that arent. The decks may change, and new cards will always cause alterations. But a player's style of slapping down the cards will almost always contain a pattern. Find that pattern, disrupt that pattern, and you should be able to float to the top yourself.
As for the US issue. America gets what it deserves. Once the people start complaining again about their "personal" loss, you can remind them that they voted to screw themselves over. Who know, maybe my wife and I will move to be closer to her family in Europe. :cheeky:
Squid, that's a very good point about studying people's tactics.
I must say I've had a bit of a fiend revival in the past few weeks. Especially with my latest fiend deck - an Ectoplasmer Fiend Burn, that doesn't use Lava Golem. It can swarm like crazy. It's so much fun. I was playing against a guy who normally beats me, and it started out 5-0 against him. He was playing a life gain/gren maju deck that can be nasty. So he'd remove my fiends, and I still managed to win. It was verty satisfying. Ended the day with Dark Ruler Hades and Necrofear sitting side by side for the victory dance.
I did lose with the same deck to his control, but I did manage to beat it a few times.
It was a satisfying day of dueling. And I am taking the fiends to Regionals.
Can someone PM me with a link to the fiendish mailing group? I'd like to join and contribute to the mayhem. There aren't any fiend players around here, so there's no one to swap tactics with.
Dark Magic Ruler - I'm thinking about taking my fiend deck to the next regionals in Minnesota. It's been doing pretty well the past few weeks, usually placing 2nd or 3rd.
I love Invader of Darkness, I just don't preach him to anyone. If any of you see me, ask for my Side Deck and you'll see who's the top monster in it. Not his effect, as much as his look and Attack strength. At 2900 and with the possibility of sharing Dark Ruler's effect, he can be INCREDIBLE.
Ahhhh...I remember the days when Winged Minion used to get laughed at. And now, there are several Fiends who can easily become broken with 700 more attack and defense points.
Mefist the infernal General (at 2500) - LOL!!! If you don't agree, you need to go up against it. Theban Nightmare (at 2200) - gains 1500 ATK if you have no hand or S/T cards on the field. Vilepawn Archfiend (at 1900) - built in Ring of Magnetism for Archfiend decks Terrorking Archfiend (at 2700) - Effect negating, and Dice Rolls. Crass Clown (at 2050 ATK - 2100 DEF) - Field Control. No Gravity Bind needed. Giant Orc (at 2900) - Activate Last Will, summon and tribute Winged Minion. Special Summon Second Goblin and equip it to Orc. Dark Balter the Terrible (at 2700) - Effect negating, Spell negating, *droooooool*!!!!
Saturnine: We'll gladly welcome you. But first, you need to get in contact with Dillie-O, Pyrofire14, or Dark Magic User and pass their test, whatever they are. But beware, they are VERY selective. Especially now that activity is SO high.
Now if you'll excuse me, I need to go look for some pictures for the "you-know-whats".
