That's true. I actually don't think we will disallow anything modern in the long run, we never have before. And at 300 none of the colossals are all that bad. We're just kinda mulling it over though..

I would make it restricted before shutting down colossals. If people are packing their own maps and being smart about it you shouldn't see Galactus rocking people too hard, and I haven't played against Ziran yet but I assume he's similar.

Pretty much anything indoors with walls to cut line of sight and waste the colossal's actions.

Do you want an advantage going against the colossals or do you want to make it so they have a nearly zero chance to win? If you don't mind making an enemy, then play the Realm of Death or Bizarro World. I wouldn't advocate this, but on those two maps a 3x6 colossal can pretty much do nothing. On Realm of Death, there is only 1 starting area they can fit in and can't move out of it without spending a lot of time destroying walls (hello Structural Integrity Field), and on Bizarro World, there is only one place on the map they can move to and that's it. On Bizarro World, if the colossal starts on the incorrect side of the map, then they can't even leave the starting area no matter what they do. It's like shooting fish in a barrel with either map.

It's shooting a fish in a barrel if you can slingshot. If not, it's a guaranteed first strike (unless you also have no moveandattack and no Telekinesis, hello In-Betweener). At any rate, it's exploitable. Just be careful about putting any special objects the colossal could break within it's range, because if it becomes a waiting game the colossal is probably going to tunnel through the walls with ranged attacks over an entire game and get a handful of free points.

That's why I think Bizarro World is even better because there is no tunneling for the colossal to do, they are just stuck. And as you said, if you have no ability to "sling shot" or move & attack and get back out, then it's more a matter of first strike...but that can be HUGE.

Good point. Bizarro World may be better most of the time, unless your evacuation range after attacking is very low, in which case you might get stuck out in the open. Might be harder to open up line of sight to Telekinesis an attacker back out of the way, but for most teams I think Bizarro World is the way to go.

If you've got some good Hypersonic Speed, that'll go a long way to helping your cause. I haven't played any 300 point games with or against them yet, but I'm curious as to how Galactus and The Tester will do.

Also, speaking of map choice, I wonder if GenCon will restrict map choices. And if they do, I wonder if they'll allow Realm of Death or Bizarro World. If they don't allow those two, a Galactus or Ziran the Tester just might be viable considering the types of teams they'd go against at GenCon.
