If I end a sentence with both an exclamation mark and a question mark, is there some kind of convention as to which should go first?
Does having one in front of the other, in either order, send a different message to you as the reader than the other?
What's the deal?!
Or
What's the deal!?
Even though I think it looks worse, I (try to) put the question mark last. Punctuation ends a sentence, so it follows that the last punctuation should be the most important. A question mark at the end suggests a question with emphasis, whereas an exclamation point at the end suggests an emphasized sentence that is incidentally also a question. And that's just wrong! WROOOOONG!

This makes sense.
I have NO idea if it's RIGHT or anything, but it makes sense.
