Also, I don't think the Cassandra Cain inspired character would be related to the Cain Marko inspired character. But that could happen if the mod felt it work for the story.

____ Iris Page had not slept since Fisk had been hauled off to Blackraft Prison. Half the city applauded her, while the other half chastised her for eliminating the best commissioner they'd ever had. She missed The Tiger, and although she'd helped in the end, she wished that she had done more to save the man that had meant so much to her. He was gone, and she wanted to be as well.

____ No, why should she feel down? She was a great reporter, and she did what was right. Plus there were rumors of a promotion coming her way at The Daily Edition. Things were looking up for her, screw what the town thought.

____ She got dressed, a pretty lemon yellow dress, and did her hair up in the way her mom taught her. She smiled and opened the door to her cozy little house and walked onto the porch. There was a brown box, and a letter attached to it. Her eyebrow raised and she carefully opened the package.

____ Inside was a small stuffed tiger, with its marble eyes removed. She read the note, "Unless you want to lose your eyes too, leave Helotham and never come back. Don't tell anyone where you're going, just get the hell out of our city."

____ She stared at the letter for a long while, before shaking her head and walking back inside. Time to pack.

____ "Parker!" The older man shouted, from behind his big mahogany desk.

____ "Yes, sir?" Asked the young man. He had orange hair and black glasses.

____ "These pictures you brought me are crap! There's a giant rainbow rhino running around and all you got me were these?"

____ The young man said nothing.

____ "This is disappointing Parker, I expected better of you. Do you know why I push you? I know how good you are, and how good you can be. You need to start living up to that potential. Show some of that confidence! You have the potential to do amazing things, let me see it!"

____ "Yes...yes sir," said the young man.

____ "As for this colourful friend of ours, I have just the article in mind..."

____ The young man left the office as his editor started to work. When John Jonah had a story in his head it was best to leave him to it. Plus, the young man wanted to search the city again for Gwendolyn, maybe this time he'd find her. But he was starting to lose hope.

____ "This ought to show that paint-speckled oaf," said Jonah. He read the headline outloud, "Rainbow Rhino; menace or attention-seeking flasher?" He then continued on with the article. "Helotham has always had its share of weirdos, but is this latest masked menace a step too far? Calling himself Smoochie, this rainbow rhino wears a big horn and a bright, colourful suit. Is he compensating for something with that big horn? And why run in straight lines into a wall. Attention? One thing is clear, Helotham doesn't need anymore attention-seeking lunatics. Smoochie, you're not going to get a kiss from anyone in this city. So please go back to smooching your own reflection, it's clear that's the only chance you have of some romance." If that didn't get the rhino to leave the city, Jonah didn't know what would.




____ He was the thing in the darkness. The hawk, the bat, the knight. Criminals should beware, because around every corner he could be waiting.

____ "Slow night..." he said, scanning the rooftops. He wore a black suit, like charcoal, with sharp wings.

____ He was younger than a lot of the other masked heroes that protected the city, but he had something they didn't. He had been trained personally by the Emperor himself. Who here could say the same?

____ "I am the night," he whispered to himself. "I am the shadow. I am-"

____ "Very noisy," said the woman. Two sais appeared around the young man's throat. "You have no idea what it means to be one with the shadows." She started to cough a little, but then pulled it together.

____ "This was just luck," said the young man.

____ "I bet that suit would sell well..."

____ By the time it was over, the young man stood in only a pair of white underwear that had a picture of a bat on them. He shivered in the cold night. The woman had taken his scrap, and his suit, and with them gone how was he going to protect anyone? No, his time in Helotham was over, maybe the Emperor was right after all.




____ Red and Detective Rand were becoming good friends. This was their second day out on the job, and already things were going well. The man was good company, high spirits, and always seemed quick with a joke. She was glad that The Tiger was wrong about the HCPD; they were fine people.

____ "Crispus," said Red. "You said this guy was down at the docks? Why?"

____ The other man shrugged.

____ When they finally reached the harbour, they saw him sitting on a wooden dock with a surfboard in hand. His youthful face seemed at odds with the beer belly, but he definitely looked like a surfer.

____ "Sup," said the man with the surfboard, as Red and Detective Rand strolled up to him. "Wanna dip?"

____ "We got complaints that you were splashing people with your board. Pretty aggressively too."

____ The man laughed. "Sooo? You gonna arrest me for that?"

____ "For harassment? Yeah we are."

____ "Wait, Crispus, are we really going to arrest him for splashing some people with water?"

____ Detective Rand pulled out his handcuffs. "Brickwall is the commissioner now, and he wants to crack down on this city. We can't let anything go anymore."

____ "Yeah but-"

____ The man turned and narrowed his gaze. "This is your job, now help me arrest him."

____ She did, reluctantly.



____ When they got back to the station, Rand took the man to a holding cell, while Red headed back into the record's room. Scion was asleep in a pile of files.

____ "Find anything interesting?" She said, poking him awake.

____ He coughed, and then looked up. "Yeah. Found some old documents and rumours about some of the cities that lie to the West, you know where that Captain dude wanted to go? Well anyway one place was called Providence. A vast city, probably one of the best in the world at the time. Anyway it just up and went dark one day, no one knows what happened. I dunno, I'm trying to get more info."

____ "You do that, I'm going to head back to the apartment and get some sleep."

____ On her way back, she saw two men boarding a boat to some other place. A man in a weird rhino suit, and a half naked guy in bat underwear. She didn't ask questions.

Ok, must reread to see who JoH was painting. I had my doubts about him but he flipped town and I do trust his instincts most of the time.

I've re-read the write-up several times, and I don't see anywhere that says why ERS had to leave. There's the rhino guy and the bat guy, but nothing about a turtle guy. What happened?

Pretty sure he was the surfer dude who got arrested.
