Sinestro found the double pronged assault difficult to defend against. The brutish creature apparently couldn't fly but the energy blasts he fired were difficult to evade and the one's he didn't evade severely tested his ring's defenses. The flying Skrull shot blasts of flame at him that were even harder to evade as the Skrull flew with equal dexterity as Sinestro though Sinestro was faster.

A hole blasted in the building's roof brought the fight outside which bought him some respite as he only had the Skrull to deal with, at least temporarily.

Suddenly a Boom Tube appeared and Darkseid stepped out. Darkseid's intimidating visage brought a stop to the attacks from the Skrull as he drew back to assess the newcomer, even the brute was taken aback as he ran out of the building and stopped short when he caught sight of the towering despot.

Sinestro grinned lasciviously, certain that with the appearance of Darkseid that victory was guaranteed.

Day 6: late evening, near the city limits of Capital City, which is home to the Earth 2 headquarters of the Justice Society of America.

Kitty Pride was beside herself with worry. What was going on? Four X-Men had been taken today and no one has heard anything new about what was happening. Professor X said that Reed Richards and Dr. Strange had come up empty in their search to see where everyone had gone.

No one had any way of gauging what supervillains had been taken but the news reports had triggered a crime wave that was keeping the remaining superheroes busy. The news of disappearing heroes was like manna from heaven to the criminal element.

The remaining X-Men had no choice but to go out and try to contain the chaos. Spiderman's enemies were especially troublesome. She was on the trail of Mysterio right now. She had no illusions about how dangerous he was bt she was teamed with Collossus right now and she wasn't worried. The two of them had stopped the Rhino earlier and they were on a roll.

She began phasing through a wall of a bank that was being hit by Mysterio. She intended to let Collossus in from inside before Mysterio knew she was there. When she emerged from the wall she was nowhere near a bank and as she looked behind her, there was no sign of the wall she had emerged from!

Disoriented, she turned back around to stare directly into the barrel of a gun in the hands of Madame Masque, Iron Man's nemesis.

Medusa, the Black Cat and Rachel Van Helsing met with Hawkman as night fell. All had armed themselves with weaponry that would be effective against vampires.

All four were ready to eradicate Midway City of vampires. Hawkman knew that he had other issues to deal with but he felt responsible for the safety of the city's citizen's who had been brought along to this reality and couldn't leave them to be prey for undead. He was grateful that he has super powered help from the "Marvel" reality but as a married man who's wife was absent, he couldn't help but be worried that all three women were beautiful and somewhat distracting.

Luckily, Medusa was married and Rachel Van Helsing seemed totally focused on her mission but the Black Cat was just a little too flirtatious for his comfort.

He suggested that he team with Miss Van Helsing while the other two work together in a different part of town. The Black Cat seemed disappointed by the pairings but at least the vampire hunter didn't seem like she would test his fidelity the way the Black Cat might.

Some Shield and Checkmate Agents were working on the search as well.

Unnoticed by anyone, Elektra was prepared to give discreet assistance in her best ninja fashion.

Kl'rt watched as the towering humanoid stepped out of the strange device that delivered him. The red alien with all the demands was fifty feet away and Blastaar, Paibok, Raksor and Nenora had emerged from the palace building to see what was up.

Kl'rt sent a signal to Paibok and Paibok rushed off to complete a specified mission that Kl'rt had prepped him for.

The huge newcomer was making placatory gestures. It seemed he wanted to talk. He spoke English, a language of the Earth people.

"Hello Kl'rt! May I call you Kl'rt? I know that some call you the Super Skrull and an apt title it is. I understand your rough friend is called Blastaar and hails from the Negative Zone? Anyway, I'm here with an offer of peace and a placation for an alliance between your great race and us. My friend Sinestro has overstepped his boundaries a bit and I would like to offer restitution and make appeasance. We should never have attacked a great and powerful race such as yours. My friend Nightmare (Suddenly Nightmare; along with Arcane, appeared beside the speaker) has told me of the greatness of your race and I wold prefer you as a willing ally."

After a short pause, He resumed, "Forgive me. I have failed to introduce myself. My name is Darkseid; the Lord of Apokolips, and I wish for the great Skrull empire and Apokolips to become solid allies. I will ensure a cessation of hostilities and guarantee restitution be made to the Skrull empire by Sinestro, who has overstepped his boundaries and forgotten what his true goal is."

Kl'rt considered, the two newcomers that had appeared seemed very powerful and he thoght it would be expedient to comply, if only to buy time while he worked organizing the Skrull empire.

Kl'rt said "Certainly! Your plan has great merit! Let me speak with my advisors and we can draw up papers to ratify a treaty between the Skrull empire and Apokolips immediately." After a pause Kl'rt said, "Won't you all join us for a feast later to celebrate our alliance?"

Darkseid said, "Absolutely", and gestured to Sinestro to shake Kl'rt's and Blastaar's hand. Reluctantly, Sinestro complied, barely concealing his anger.

"Excellent!" proclaimed Darkseid. "If you could be so kind as to direct us to a place of rest until the treaty can be drawn up and the cekebration can get under way, we would be ever so grateful."

Kl'rt glanced at Raksor and Nenora who leapt to comply (as both were terrified for their position now that Kl'rt and Paibok had shown up).

Kl'rt looked at Blastaar and drew him over to confer quickly.

Paibok released Moondragon from her restraints. Before he had even a half a chance to explain why he'd released her, Moondragon brain blasted him and knocked him unconscious.

Irate at her imprisonment, all she could think of was to get as far away from the Skrulls as possible. Picking Paibok's mind, she learned that the Skrulls were in trouble and were hoping to use her as an ace in the hole.

She didn't owe the Skrulls anything but that Darkseid fellow---- he resembled Thanos in an odd sort of way.

She was curious, and leaving Paibok in his unconcious state, she went off to investigate.

Sinestro fumed at Darkseid. "I could have had this entire empire under my thumb! What were you thinking?"

"Do you dare to question me?" Darkseid answered. "There are greater issues at play here then your personal glory, fool!" Sinestro blanched at that epithet.

"Did you forget my instructions? I told you to face a lone planet known as Xandar and your bloated ego causes you to target an empire!"

"Don't try to second guess me! I am a god! I have a much clearer idea of what we are being subjected to then any mere mortal can have!"

"Listen to me and never disobey me again, without good reason. Get busy and deal with the planet Xandar like you were directed to and forget about this Skrull empire. At least for now."

A sullen and furious Sinestro left to find Xandar. Darkseid gloated, thinking Sinestro would be more dangerous in his present state of mind.

Shadowcat stared down the barrel of Madame Masque's gun.

"I'm not your enemy", she cried! "I'm only here to help people!"

Madame Masque blinked. This young girl wasn't her problem! For God's sake, she isn't even armed! What was she doing? " I'm sorry, honey! I'm so sorry. What was I thinking?"

Madame Masque was appalled with herself. What had she done? She'd threatened a child! Barely as old as the young girl murdered in In Cold Blood! What was she thinking? This young girl wasn't her enemy! Tony Stark was! Tony Stark and that horrible Iron Man! They were the real problem. Whatever was upsetting her, it was Tony Stark's fault. He was the one who shold pay!

Whitney Frost dropped her weapon. "I'm sorry, I'm so sorry!" She grabbed Kitty Pride and tried to hug her.

Kitty; who was 16, wondered at the apparent insanity of this woman. One minute she was ready to blow her away and the next she was acting like a mother figure. Kitty was repulsed. Nervous about who she was dealing with, Kitty decided to play with kid gloves when dealing with the woman.

She made a mental note to sign up for psychology classes in her next semester because now that she'd met a downright crazy woman.

Having decided that the woman was insane, Kitty decided to humor her and accept her apology.

Kitty, and Madame Masque moved into the city. They saw that people were busy cleaning up after a tremendous battle. People looked at the two women with fear and suspicion, particularly toward Madame Masque. Suddenly Kitty spotted Hank McCoy and Doc Samson loading the bodies of giants onto the back of a flatbed truck. She ran towards Hank, forgetting about Madame Masque.

"Hank!" she shouted and The Beast looked over and shouted Kitty and after slinging a Stone Giant corpse onto the truck moved to greet his newly arrived team member. After joyfully greeting each other, they were full of questions and Hank went first. After relating what he knew he asked her to tell her story.

When she brought up Madame Masque, she made a gesture to point her out except that Madame Masque wasn't there. She had slipped away while Kitty was greeting the Beast and now they had no idea where she was at.

Questioning the crowd of people didn't help because everyone seemed to have a different story of where she went. Hank knew the people were still shellshocked from their recent ordeal and didn't pursue the matter. He was sure they would find her eventually.

Hank told Doc Samson that he would show Kitty where the other X-Men were and would return to help the clean up shortly.

Sinestro flew away fuming. How dare Darkseid speak to him like that? Sinestro was no lackey! They were allies, dammit! He needed time to cool off. It would take some time to reach this Xandar that Darkseid wanted conquered. He'd planned to lead a Skrull armada to aid in the conquering. Where did that Super Skrull and his brutish ally come from? Why didn't Darkseid inform him of them?

If he'd known about them, he could have enlisted them in his assault on Xandar. He didn't even know anything about this Xandar.

He would return to Korugar first and demand an audience with Darkseid before he continued.

Darkseid and Nightmare approached Kl'rt and Blastaar. Arcane scuttled around Nightmare but was ignored by both Kl'rt and Blastaar.

Darkseid said "Forgive the misunderstanding. I failed to inform my operative Sinestro of the nature and importance of your great empire. He was acting on his own and shall be dealt with accordingly. I am here in a gesture of goodwill and wish to enlist the great Skrull empire as friends and allies as we adjust to this remarkable event in all our lives. We have all been the victims of some unknown entity that has transplanted us to another universe similar to our own but apparently as malleable as clay. We need to work together to cope with these disruptions to our lives and I hope that you can accept my overtures of friendship so that we can find a way to restore the order in our lives. I have many resources at my disposal that I will happily share with you if you agree to a treaty between our people that will allow we two to work together." Darkseid then told a bold lie from information fed to him by Nightmare. " I understand we have mutual enemies. The despised Reed Richards and his Fantastic Four" The last was said with contemptuous bile.

As he said that, both Blastaar and the Super Skrull stiffened and became more attentive.

Blastaar spoke first. If you will support us in the quest for the destruction of the Fantastic Four I will promise you the friendship and support of the Negative Zone and it's denizens once I have returned to claim my throne.
But first I would see first hand what you might bring to the table."

The Super Skrull added, "The Skrull empire has little love for the interference of our sworn enemy Richards or his allies. We would welcome any support in eradicating this blight on the advancement of the Skrull empire. reed Richards has been a thorn in our side for too long and needs to be dealt with with finality. Perhaps we could add the Avengers to that and you might certainly see the support and gratitude of the Skrull empire."

"But I too am curious as to what you might bring to the table as well as your odd ally" Referring to Nightmare."I have never encontered him before and wish to know what his role is in all this."

With that, the four sat down and began discuss particulars of their budding alliance, with promises from Darkseid of trips via Boom Tube to see the assets Darkseid and Nightmare could provide.

During this discussion Moondragon had been using her mind powers to remain unseen while she eavesdropped. She was fascinated by this Darkseid but was chilled more then once when both he and Nightmare seemed to be aware of her presence and appeared to look right at her.

Hawkman set out on the vampire hunt with Rachel Van Helsing. She was all business and he appreciated that. He absolutely wanted his city rid of the vampire infestation and was anxious to ensure it did not spread out to the other cities and become a widespread problem.

She had given the Black Cat, Medusa and several Shield and Checkmate agents briefings on where likely hideouts in the city might be.

Although Medusa and the Black Cat enjoyed each other's company they both decided to assist different Shield and Checkmate agents in the quest to eradicate the vampire infestation. They knew it would likely take several nights before they might be able to relax but Rachel suspected the vampires were leaderless and would be uncoordinated enough to give them a chance to wipe them out.

She felt that if Dracula were around she would be able to sense him.

Beast Boy proved to be worthless in his current state to Batman. Although they had liberated him, he still belonged; heart and soul, to Amora the Enchantress. They were forced to lock him up in the Shield facilitiy along with Gorilla Grodd and that animalistic mutant that the Flash had captured.

Frustrated, Batman turned to Hercules and the Scarlet Witch and asked how he could free him. Hercules informed him that they would have to force Amora to lift her spell.

Batman was angry that they hadn't confronted this Enchantress the first time when they invaded Asgard if that were the case. Hercules answered that he hadn't known that Batman wanted the kid freed of any spells.

Suppressing his anger. Batman suggested that they return to Asgard to confront this witch and make things right. Hawk and Dove hadn't returned yet to Happy Harbor so they all went this time.

The Flash decided to look around a bit further after patrolling around Central City to search for threats. He was greatful for the Shield and Checkmate presence and was glad that of all the citys from his universe that had been replicated, Central City seemed to be the one that had the fewest problems.

He was waiting for Batman to give the green light for their liberation of Metropolis. Apparently Batman wanted to free up one of Wally's team mates that was under the influence of a villain or villainess from the other universe.

The Flash wondered where Superman might be. The presence of Metropolis suggested he ought to be around. The Flash had even done some reconnaisance. Only Bane and Intergang seemed to be there. Aquaman was ready to attack the harbor and the Flash was game. The help of Swamp Thing and those other heroes should ensure their victory.

Superman would probably really like that Captain America fella. Barry knew he sure did. Those others seemed alright too. He wondered how Ray Palmer would respond to that Pym fella.

Suddenly, he realised he'd run further then he'd meant to. He spotted another city that he hadn't realised was there. As he approached, he thought it seemed familiar.

Wait a minute! Capital City? That was the city that housed the headquarters of the Justice Society of America on the alternate Earth that Hawkman was from. His own Hawkman was an alien from Thanagar named Katar Hol. The Hawkman that was here was an Earthman called Carter Hall. He was from an alternate Earth that had a version of the JLA known as the JSA.

None of them had any idea this city was here! Feeling a bit guilty, Barry moved in to investigate.

Madame Masque fell into a panic when she saw that Shadowcat had teamates available in this strange place. Suffering from acute paranoia since her disfiguring accident, she fled almost immediately when the young X-man ran to her teamate. Running down some side streets the people that she encountered fled immediately from her, being frightened by her strange gold mask.

After several random turns down side streets she spotted a car that intrigued her and she used her childhood street skills to hot wire it to allow her to speed through the streets.

She drove recklessly through more streets until she smashed through some wooden fencing and finally halted the vehicle. Distraught, she fled the vehicle and ran out into the night sobbing. She collapsed in a heap on a vacant lot, heaving in her desparate loneliness. Where was she? Why was she here? Why was she being toyed with?

Suddenly, she felt a hand on her shoulder and looked up to see the bizarre sight of the Scorpion and the Crimson Dynamo offering her solace.

Wolverine was spotted by surveillance climbing the mountain and Nick Fury personally went out to meet him. "So they pulled it off eh? I wasn't sure they could get you out of the thumb of Magneto so easily."

Fury guided him to the entrance that Spiderman had used days earlier. Almost immediately he brought Wolverine down to the bottom level which allowed him to see the incarcerated Sabretooth.

Wolverine gloated over Sabretooth for only a minute and then turned his attention to Gorilla Grodd.

After getting Grodd's scent memorized, Wolverine followed Fury to an office where Fury briefed Wolverine on current status pdates.

Wolverine then was led to the teleporter that would bring him to Xavier's mansion and Logan was Reunited with Nightcrawler and Wolfsbane.
