B-3. Vs. System Tournament Formats
Each tournament format supported by UDE is either the Constructed Deck format, where players bring their own decks, or the Sealed Pack format, where players build decks out of several booster packs provided by the tournament organizer.
In Sealed Pack formats, players construct decks at the tournament using sealed product that is usually provided by the tournament organizer. UDE supports two variants of the Sealed Pack format in Vs. System tournaments:
Sealed Deck Format (including Team Sealed)—Players open several Vs. System booster packs and build decks from the opened cards. For Team Sealed, players share the boosters they open.
Booster Draft Format (including Team Draft)—Players open several Vs. System booster packs and pass them around the table, picking cards to add to their decks. For Team Draft, format players do not share the drafted cards.
Sealed = Sealed Deck + Booster Draft
I have, however, edited the poll choice to make it a tad more clear.
not to discourage chdb or anyone else for that matter, but arguing with stu about things like "good" and "bad" is like trying to beat the cleveland browns. Way too easy.
Basically, Stu lives in a world where everything is considered "good" so long as they personally like it, no matter how atrocious it is. Stu isn't the only one, most of my experience in the education field involve people that are unable to fault anyone that is "doing their best." There is a reason why the US is far behind other countries in educational competency and there is a reason why teachers suck at card games.
Sometimes I get sick of people that celebrate "jank" simply because they're incapabale of winning.
And I get sick of people trying to prove their "intelligence" by judging the undeniable value of the particular intricacies of a trading card game based on superheroes in spandex. Here, have a gold star for your forehead.
Oh man, that's a softball waiting to happen. Have you learned that teachers end up working in the subject area that most describes their personality? What are you planning to teach again?

I think that is a little bit harsh. I know some people that are very good at the game, yet have no desire to compete on a regular tournament circuit. They get far more enjoyment out of playing down the local store with their random jank.
Sometimes I get sick of people that celebrate "jank" simply because they're incapabale of winning.
Has anyone ever considered that some people play jank for the simple challenge of making it work.
As in "I could play something that is OBVIOUSLY the most powerful thing in the format and be pretty much guaranteed the win, or I could actually put in some hard work and time and effort and find a way to make this jank playable".
Or, maybe, just maybe, some people want to shut their brain off and start flopping some cards and laughing on the rare occaision where their jank is able to sling the rock just right to hit Goliath between the eyes.
No, it's obviously more likely that anyone with a different outlook on the world must somehow be defective or deficient in some way ...
Its funny, Alex is getting alot of crap for the manner in which he started this thread, but it has actually had some of the better content Ive seen on the Realms in a while. Billy's breakdown of the categories was great(as were his flames), cdhb performed his usual surgical dissection on stu, Erick piled on a little, Big Spooky tried to inject civility and reason, etc. And, through all this people actually did manage to say what they thought of the current state of VS writing, including most of the writers in question. This is the Realms in a nutshell.
Would everyone have taken the time to do this if Alex hadn't written his post the way he did, but instead said something along the lines of "I would prefer more articles like <blank> writes, discuss"? Probably not. Gellerman was smart enough to realize that on the internet you catch far more flies with acid than you will with honey.

Actually, I think he was just being honest (in a non-grammatical/punctuational way)

That was actually really low. Even for Stu.
Basically, I'm sick of people blindly defending one side of the argument. For example, if you like jank and shamelessly bash competitive players for being unoriginal or netdeckers etc., then I think you're a loser and need to get a grip. Also, for example, if you're a competitive player who thinks every single bad deck in the game isn't worth your time and the players who play them are #######, then you need to get a grip.
Come on people, this is like racism. You don't necessarily have to LIKE the other group of people, but you have to at least give them some credit and let them do what they want to do without being persecuted.

I agree. Ain't it grand? And it happened just in time for the Equinox. Perfect.
I missed the bit where it was a splendiferous supposition of spectacular screenwriting, and it formed a tiny little miracle-node in your synapses where it will remain forever, a piece of biological history encased in your neurons - to say nothing of the vibrant Miss Alba, a glorious actress, one of the greatest of our time or indeed any time, and a beauty unmatched in history going back as far as Cleopatra.
That is my favorite part, forgive me for bumping it. Not only did he jock my style to perfection... he proved that he has read my last article and retained the theme. Good times.
(13 Rep points to you, my dear Canadian adversary. Then I might spread some around so I can come back and help you toward Level Three. You earned it, I doubt your script doctoring authenticity no longer.)
What do I vote if I want more design articles? (And I do mean design, not comic-lore stuff.) Or is that not an option because it's so hard to get designers to find the time to write?
