Okay,
So the first thing all new teams do is take a number. This number allows us to see what place in the line we go in. The line is for us to see who gets to pick first when deciding what characters they want before the actual draft, this is called their core. Taking a number is done by rolling the D1000.
After everyone is done picking their core team (Which has to be comic book thematic, like Iron Man, Captain America, Hawkeye on the Avengers, to take an example), then we can start drafting.
Then the drafts and rounds start, related to this number but not completely, as people's numbers will be mixed in with returning players records (Usually it is people who didn't make playoffs, new players, people who did make playoffs, in that order.)

Heroclix has ruined Heroclix. The fact that the championship game is 6 pages into the game, and only on turn 5, tells you everything you need to know about how hopelessly complicated the game has become.

Building Your Team
To start, you of course need to have a team. Your initial team must be within the following parameters:
Choosing a team of 550 xp occurs in two stages:
The first 250 points will be chosen and submitted to your commissioner for approval. These 250 points must be from a comic accurate theme team and are known as the core. When your core is submitted a list of characters you feel are theme should also be submitted. In the long run this will speed up the draft and eliminate some stress. Cores are either hero or villain teams. If you feel your team is neutral, make your case to the commissioner. The commissioner will then have you choose hero or villain for the purpose of recruiting non-thematic characters. The order of the Core draft will be determined by sending a d1000 role to the commissioner at cptnifty at gmail. The higher the role the higher the core draft spot.
You must have at least 2 characters in your core.
Characters in your core may not be stolen.
The second part is through a draft. After drafting order has been selected you can use your remaining 300 points to buy any character within your teams universe at their cheapest carded or uncarded version.
Once you have built your team, the difference in build total you have left is put in your bank. (Thus, if you construct a 216 point team before the draft, leaving 24 points unused, you get 24 points extra for the draft immediately. If after the draft you have 490 point team, when the next draft comes around you have 10 points extra.)
When starting your team you will begin with 1 Feat card or Special Object that is for your whole team (subject to Commissioner's approval). You use that feat on any two character on your team during any match (exceptions in the feat section below). It can be assigned to any one character who qualifies. It can be re-assigned each battle. You may suggest feats that you believe to be appropriate but the commissioner will have the final say in this.
So you build 250 points of a team around a keyword, say Justice League. This 250 points is your Core Team and can't have any characters taken from you later on. You then send the team for approval by Cap Nifty.
You also roll a d1000 and that number determines your spot when compared to all the other teams.
After all teams have a core, the draft starts and when it is your turn, you can pick a character that will fit your team theme. You pick this character using the cheapest version in the game. If it has multiple versions (with a card or without a card) you can choose which version you pick from.
Once you spend all your allocated points on characters, you have your team!
Example:
250 Core Justice League
23 Clark Kent
33 Bruce Wayne
32 Diana Prince
90 John Jones
72 Green Lantern (Hal Jordan)
250 points spent
Draft 300 points worth of other "Hero" characters that would be affiliated with the Justice League
so i roll the d1000 and send him that number? do i keep that number cause its my draft order
Correct- You put his name on the dice roller above his name, and then he will write down the number and keep it for you.
