I can't believe it's taken 7 pages for someone to say this:
6 years for the Runaways, and now that they're confirmed their set's future hangs in limbo?! It's just not fair!
With the economic outlook the way it is , it would not surprise me if whom ever purchases the rights either sits on it, or scales it back to either 1 set a year, or just set collectors packs. Oil prices all over the shop (yes they are currently heading down, but it is erratic), Even China is hurting, and has just announced it's investing 20% of it's GDP into the market to stem the falling market, this will reduce the viable of Chinese manufacturing. In bad markets , expensive non-necessary items are the first to get scaled back , and a collectible product made from petroleum is high on the chopping block.
You will probably see a lot of the other manufacturers scaling back their output as well as the entire market tightens it's purse strings. I can see WotC doing well with their Pen and Paper roleplaying games (comparatively cheap to make) compared to their minis which I can see being reduced.
I'm on mixed minds, I will miss the game if it goes, but will have spare cash again if it does not return (and in this day and age, that is important). OTOH, I don't have my Squirrel girl , But did get Batman Beyond and Howard the Duck
We just have to wait and see
Howard the Duck - , Agents of Atlas - , Squirrel girl - (suck it DOOMSTRIKER)
Hmm. Maybe at least Marvel Clix can survive. Marvel Comics is doing well and has started up their own film production company. Heroclix is profitable. Maybe Marvel themselves could pick up Marvel Heroclix and launch their own gaming branch. Highly unlikely but intriguing, no?
intriguing,... well if its done, we can finally see in clix form an Iron Man that can take down Superman, Captain America beat down the bat and so on and so on
The Topps Company is announcing today that it is closing down WizKids, its core hobby gaming business, and will be discontinuing the WizKids product lines for the immediate future. Topps CEO Scott Silverstein commented, “This was an extremely difficult decision. But in light of the current economic conditions, we feel it is necessary to align our gaming initiatives more closely with Topps current sports and entertainment offerings which are already being developed within our New York office.” WizKids is based in Seattle, Washington.
In its statement announcing the closing of WizKids, Topps also indicated that it was pursuing “strategic alternatives so that viable brands and properties, including HeroClix, can continue without any noticeable disruption.”

Hopefully they do find a home for HeroClix ...
That's really unfortunate, I hope the game can continue elsewhere with another company. So Hammer of Thor will still release right? And then the close down right after, correct??? And I assume that there were no other sets being worked on, correct???
i just hope it gets made. thats all. i could care less about prizes, just make the clix. if wotc picks it up i hope it doesn't mean a pick up in price.
i would it to see it at places like walmart and target too. not only would it get to a wider group of ppl. it would alsoo mean i miight get some clix on CLEARANCE!!!!
all in all i feel like everyone else. this is a junk shot while we weren't looking. my friends and i will still play clix faithfully and i hope we'll still have games at my local store. this way ppl can play FUN games and bigger pont value games as well. whoever takes over, i just pray they don't change it too much.
how about we all pool together and play mcdonalds monopoly!!! does anybody have a boardwalk?? i have a park place and we could go half with the winnings!!
@antonio.clark.art is my instagram.take a look and tell me what you think....be blessed!!!

Actually personal hobbies are one of the few things that stay steady during economic crises (tanning, gaming and such). People view these things as a treat from the world around them and they deserve to continue on. Now things like eating out, getting new furniture to your outdated apparel, upgrading your cable package, and frivolous spending on clothing and so forth sees a HUGE downturn.
in my area turnout has been down. the sets sold out, but the store has been ordering alot less stock. price increase and rarity(one fig no r,e,v) has diminished sales greatly. hopefully they can rebound . we all knew this was coming i think we hoped for later rather than sooner. sad because ppl were coming back and getting into the game again.
justice is balance, you burned my home and left me for dead, consider us even
WotC is NOT doing fine. They just did practically the same thing with their DDM game. I am positive they can't pick up heroclix nor would they want to at this time. They have had poor success with scrimage games. They are totally switching over to support D&D with minis and them only. Star Wars Miniatures are going by by too.
Erm, the DDM change is nothing, at all, like this. It will probably have a very minor effect on sales (annoyingly, since we had a good Skirmish crew here).
And where, precisely, did you officially hear about SWM going away? While Skirmish was a small part of DDM, it was a large part of SWM and SWM sales have been pretty stinking strong.
