FACT: If someone is standing right in front of Cyclops, he can still shoot them with his eyes. If someone Outwits Sharpshooter, he can still make ranged attacks. Meaning he can still use his optic blasts. Meaning he can still shoot people with his optic blasts if they're standing right in front of him.
What's next, going to argue that the Hulk shouldn't deal 5 damage if someone Outwits his Super-Strength? After all, if he doesn't have Super-Strength, how is he doing 5 damage? With Bruce Banner's fists?! ZOMG!
EDIT: And just to add, Outwitting Sharpshooter is the rough equivalent of getting rid of a sniper's scope or the visor Cyclops wears. In both cases, a sniper still has the sniper rifle, while Cyclops still has his optic blasts.
It is the surge of special power/traits to make characters more "accurate" but also increases their point costs.
It has me rooting more to see figures that are part of teams that :
haven't been clixed before, don't need special powers/traits , and will be more team friendly because of the lower point cost. An example would be Pantha for Teen Titans ( ~ 35 points of Weapon X or a Katana-esque dial would be sweet ).
I see what you're saying. Special powers are rampant, but there can be cost effective figures with them as well. Just look at the new Batman (Dick Grayson) or Venom (WoS). Cost effective and rock special powers or traits. So if another Gambit is truly in the set, he doesn't need to be another 89+ point Beast. I can perfectly settle for a Gambit in the 70 point range. (That is if he isn't just a duo with Rogue)
Speaking of Rogue, I would love to have the new Acuna version. They've had plenty of times to get classic rogue right and she hasn't been her classic self for years now. I'd hate to be reminded of what I'll never see in the comics again.
As for Wolvie, if he is indeed a stand alone figure in the set, they should give him Hal Jordan's trait ability to pick the team that hes on. This was if you have an X-man team he can be that or an Avengers team he can do that too. With him hopefully in the uncommon spot, you can get multiples and color him however you'd like for whichever team.
Cyclops dial looks really fun to play; and heal 2 instead of one, thats huge. This make Cyclops tha man? Nah, everyone knows that his brother Havok can beat the living snot outta him. hahahaha

Ok. Nobody else here is going to say it? Fine. I'll start the negativity train: Cyclops is okay, but maybe a bit overcosted with no damage reducers.
Maybe a bit. But he has a lot going in his favor to compensate for his fragility.
1 - Effective 12 range with Running Shot + Sharpshooter + Willpower (+ Bonus of having the cheapest TK in the game (M&M Marvel Girl) as a teammate) = First Strike. I would gladly trade hits with Bullseye any day.
2 - He's dangerous and useful down the dial. Really, there's not a bad click.
3 - He can easily heal back up. RS him next to a Cuckoo.
My H/W link does not reflect the wants for my collection, it is a list of figures that I already have, but still "want" to play.
A natural 4 damage on Cyclops? Seems a bit much; with the sharp-shooter ability, 3+RCE should have been sufficient. Now Cyclops can RS people in the face for 4 damage is fine but him hitting with his fist or foot or head for 4 damage is inaccurate.
This is exactly what I said and I was called crazy by many people.. exactly what I said, almost to a tee, about the damage being 4, and even a base of 3.
I took this dial, made some changes to it to make it a bit more comic accurate. I need to make one more change though before I finalize the dial.

It might be because Cyclops isn't hitting someone with his fist or foot at close range except under exceedingly rare circumstances, at least as far as that first click is concerned. When that first click is active, Cyke is at full power and nigh-on as spry and fully capable as can be. Anyone getting in his face at close range is still getting shot full of 4 damage optic blasts.
I'm in Providence! I've been out of the hobby, but I'm looking for Saturday gaming. Send me a PM if you know the down-low!
