Originally posted by century I made 2600+ by going undefeated in a PCQ. I've now played in two sanctioned tournaments, the PCQ and PC1. PCQ was sealed, I went undefeated. PC1 I went 0-4 in constructed. Now I get an invite to PC2, but since I work retail I can't get any time off in December, so it's worthless to me.
I'm the judge for the events at our store, so no playing there to gain ratings points.
I find this very unrealistic. The most I've gained in a PCQ by going X-1 overall is 60 pts or so, so we'll give you an additional 40 pts which should safely cover any additional rounds and removing the one loss. I went 1-4 at PC1 and lost 65 pts. (We'll use the 65 and include a win, making it more beneficial for you) My rating is pretty baseline as yours would be. 2500 + 100 - 65 = 2535. If you have truly only been in the two tournaments, then your rating was screwed up somehow because an undefeated PCQ and an 0-4 at the PC shouldn't put you above 2600.
Originally posted by stubarnes Not that I would ever hijack a thread or anything, but I am actually getting more excited about the Marvel vs. DC 10Ks in SoCal than the PC itself. That's open to everyone.
(Alex, we might need a ruling for that one... someone (I told you I would forget the name!) played a Sentinel in the DC draft at Indy in my honor. Can Mirage name a Marvel team in that tournament?)
Agreed. Is this 10K separate from the regular 10K?
I can only find one 10K listing on the GenCon site...
Question: Is the 20 point restriction still in place? I know of some people playing in PCQs despite knowing they have more than 20 points and I've heard some people state that it was in effect while others state that it isn't. I just want to know for sure.
The irony of all of this is that I tried my butt off to get a slot at Gen Con, which I went to, but failed to place in either of the PCQs or at the LCQ I attended so wasn't able to compete. Now I find out, with only a month to go, that all that "almost" winning has gotten me a rating that is high enough to just walk into SoCal and say that I want to play, but naturally I likely can't go.
So what do I do? NOT play any limited VS. until Pro Curciut 3 so that I guarantee my rating?
I really wish I could go to SoCal. WoS looks like its going to be an amazing set to draft (assuming that they are still planning on drafting WoS there).
So with a rating of 2597 I guess I'm not good enough for the PC lol. I just found out and looked more into the rating invite thing, guess I have catching up to do, hopefully I'll have a better rating with more PCQ's before New York since I can't attend Socal.
The PC Points should be on the Rankings system page. Just look for it.
I know I can't go b/c I don't have a UDE #. Well, once my PCQ comes up in January, I'm going to GC Indy next year (Or NYC), whatever to compete.
Normally when I type LOL online I am not literally laughing out loud, but at the moment I am honestly having trouble typing due to the hilarity of it all. I just checked the UDE website and it would appear that somehow or other I have 42 pro circuit credits! 42! 10 of these seem to be a ratings invite mixup (I'm pretty sure I shouldn't have got one given that I was already qualified), and another 10 have come from somewhere to do with calculations based on 10k events that I can only assume have gone awry. Appartently points are being applied based on your finish in the swiss and your final finish. That means if you make top 8, you will essentially be getting 20 points? A mistake surely? If you finish top of the swiss at a PCQ even you can get a suprising amount of points. This seems a little ridiculous to me.
