This right here. I been waiting years for the Fantastic Four to come back and now we have this "power shift" in the Marvel set directly before it.
Will the FF also have cheesy point prices that makes them unplayable with anything before this new point shift, or is CAatA a one time thing and when FF comes out those pieces will be destroyed by these?
Either way, l am not happy about the power creep in this set.
There are lots of directions you can stretch a dial in before it absolutely breaks.
This seems to be a set for attacking. But none of the figures in this set offer much in the way of defense. Long-term, will this type of dial prove to be the most reliable return on investment?
I expect that we will continue to see the game riding along the average power level that was established around the WatXM-ish era.
Whats great about Carol is that one penetrating dmg without needing to attack or even use another action. Hypersonic attack and while at it, take out those retaliators, pogs or anything else thats just a pain to hit or waste an attack on. 3 stop clicks at 150, i like her more than her chase from the movie.

Ok. I am going for the throat here a bit, but we need to start citing dials if we really disagree about the power in this set.
Please. Find me another 90pt figure that has 4 clicks of Invincible. I found one. Then put that figure and Arno next to one another.
You don’t have a leg to stand on. 90pts should not have much in the way of defense...instead, it have four clicks of special invincible.

I'll have to disagree on this, too. Heavy reducers are costed for nothing in this set. Carol has 3 stop clicks that also give outwit PROTECTION. Arno has invincible/impervious combined. Just look at sf Ironman, there's 0 finesse or give and take on those, all three are tanks. And 18 is the new normal. I've never seen a set stack 18 esd/cr more before. It's downright common

There may not be one. Does that mean there shouldn't be? That there couldn't be? THAT is the real question.
At the end of the day, a power is just 1 Outwit away from being a blank slot. And this set has tons of Outwit. We may just have to plan Outwit as an essential ability from now on.

Year ago outwit & pc were on almost every team I build for tournament use.
Sounds like same old, same old.
I know things have changed but this statement just tells me the more things change, the more they return to the same again in some ways.
Outwit has always been very well costed compared to just how much it tends to be capable of doing. It still doesn't do anything against power cosmic but everything should have at least 1 weakness but I'm not telling you anything you don't know as a long time player there. I'm mostly "completing" the thought there.

I still think of MM Havok as the epitome of efficiency. That set, and Icons after it, pushed the envelope so hard... and even in today's game, Blackfire and Havok could easily compete for space on a team. Just do a quick Units section search for 4 damage, 7+ range, 50 points or less.
The more things change... this set is that era, all over again.

You shouldn’t HAVE to have outwit just to compete. There dials are flat out cheese. Thank god not the whole set is like this and I cherry pick but this is bull####.

You’re an OG at this but come on, there are pieces that are similar but these are tanks for pennies.
