About the defense of Namor, well he could fight bricks like Hulk and Thing very well ... if he didnt deserved impervious, he should at least have a lot of invulnerability. I think that is wrong he being so much weaker than wonder man ... he should at least be cheap - but no, he cost more than v superwoman - which by the way can beat the tar out of him.
How is he weaker than Wonder Man or Superwoman? He has a much, much deeper dial, his damage doesn't go to 2 until his 9th click (compared to 7th on WM and SW), has only one click with an AV lower than 8, and has that mid-dial Flurry for added whuppage.
Wow, a Seek Peek of Fantastic Forces! It's the best Seek Peek ever!
Subject line typos aside, this is a nice start. It introduces several of the new concepts while saving the big guns for later. She looks to be an okay secondary blaster.
Ah, I never read much (any) New Mutants. Why does she have a winged horse? Is she too good for Lockheed or something?
She has a winged horse because she got Claremontized (the term I've coined to describe Chris Claremont's tendencies to fall in love with his female characters and give them ridiculous power boosts).
During a trip to Asgard, she rescued the winged horse from a trap. It turned out the horse was one of the steeds of the Valkyrie, and by rescuing it she forged a psychic bond with it. She was basically made an honorary Vakyrie after that.
Well thanks for clearing things up on Wanda. I was really hoping that she was normal Marvel Universe but I guess not. I wonder when they will bring her back and I doubt she'll be in the next sets. Plus didn't they say they were going back to 4 figs per booster after that? Then that would mean we'll probably only get 1 giant or double based fig in the next set. I hope I'm wrong because I really wanted Valkyire and Black Knight. I wonder if Quicksilver will be in the set and if he is i'll guess he'll be an Ultimate. It'll be interesting to see who else is in this set.
Namor's a big hit for me. They got the TA's right, and they put a new spin on the classic brick. After taking some hits, Namor knocks over a fire hydrant and totally flips out with Flurry!
Ultimate Doom? Meh.
I'm happy Scarlet Witch is the Ultimates version. The real Wanda developped into a versatile character beyond her early hex powers, and I'd be fuming mad if all she had was Probability Control again. Bendis' interpretation doesn't exist, by the way, Busiek's stuff is the upper limit. A year or two from now, House of Monkey-business is going to be a distant memory when Quesada gets fired.
You Mirage fans are lucky she didn't share Magik's fate as a 7 attack filler. If there was a way for only her vet to be mounted, she probably would have. I expect Cannonball and Sunspot's rookies will be equally stinky, but they deserve it, they sucked! Remember that Marvel Team-Up where Sam couldn't catch a hat? At least Karma was good from the get-go.
I wonder if they will re-use part of this sculpt in the next DC Set for the greatest unmade clix character of all....Amethyst, Princess of Gemworld
If I get my Amethyst, Princess of Gemworld on her unicorn pegasus and my Double Based Aquaman riding a Seahorse, I will be the happiest boy in all clixdom!
I'm just totally jazzed about the new Spiderman fig at the upper right corner...on my screen, his back hand is skewed into two long blades! Could it be Carnage disguised as Spidey? Better yet...Toxin?!
Gee I don't know if KC sells. Wonder how many PM's I would get if I offered a KC Superman for trade. Probably about the same amount if I offered a Nightcrawler, maybe even a bit more for Nightcrawler.
Anyhoo, yes, both KC and X-men sell. This is "old school" X-men love, for which I am happy they included another New Mutant. Now, if they could do Karma, Sunspot and Cannonball, we'd have the original lineup for the New Mutants. (It was Karma, Mirage, Sunspot, Cannonball, Wolfsbane as the original members, with Doug Ramsey, Magick, and Warlock coming later, right?)
My sig line reads "dougmac is Invisible"? But I'm Online, right? I can still see my hands! I wonder if my wife can see me. I'll sneak in bed with her and see...
Yeah, Frontman, I think you got the New Mutants lineup correctly. Man, I loved that comic! I was just turning into a teen when it came out. It was full of all kinds of teen angst I could identify with. It wasn't so edgy as it was innocent. The characters had more offbeat abilities which weren't necessarily immediately valuable in a battle, so the writers had to be inventive with the storylines from a heroic standpoint. The New Mutants were much more about kids learning they were mutants, dealing with having powers and controlling them, dealing with each other, being ostracized. It was really different, at the time, from anything elase out there. Even the artwork felt awkward. It really worked for me.
Anyway, I have no idea whether this Dani Moonstar is representative. The early character would have had very few useful powers in clix form, so an emphasis on the later character makes sense. I kind of wish they had her as a removable character like the riders in Mage Knight, so we could get a representation of her as she had been most of the time...on foot...and still have the transporter with the winged horse. I love the fig we got, though, and I can't wait to get mine!
I'm looking forward to Namor. He completes the main characters in Marvel's Silver Age. Should not have taken this long. I also think he's about as well represented, as a character can be, from Team Abilities to powers.
Moonstar is definitley one of the best looking Heroclix scultps to date.
Scarlet Witch-meh-Great looking sculpt, tough
Reed-looks ok, I fear that he will be twisted six ways from Sunday in boosters-unless they make a soecial plastic holder for him, like they did in CT.
Lockjaw..has practical game uses, but I'm largelt unimpressed.
Doom, though comic accurate, game-wise just doesn't cut it. I do like the look of the figure, and being a BIG Ultimate FF fan....I'll be glad to have him.
