Gargantua and flyingicarus are starting a new game. Each of us picked 8 villians and are dropping them into squares across from each other. Brutal, bloody mayhem to follow:
The snikt of blades being unsheathed was the first thing heard.
Then, seeimngly out of nowhere, Taskmaster appears.
"Gettin' a little tired of you and your boys in our turf, fella. 'Bout time we taught you how to show some respect."
Titania stands behind him pounding a large metal pipe into her hand, "Yeah, as in hightailing your crummy asses outta here."
Then they come...
Deadshot fires a phaser gun into his foes announcing his arrival.
Gorilla Grodd takes a less stealthy approach, jumping into the line of fire and howling frighteningly.
Mini-tornados follow Whirlwind's path, the metallic clang of his blades making him more imposing.
Lady Shiva doesn't worry about looking threatening. She stands in all her martial arts readiness, fully concentrated, fully aware. Making her even more dangerous.
Mists envelope Mordru. He laughs maniacally. His eyes glow yellow then red. His hands charge prisms of color from the fingertips.
Sidewinder cocks his pistol. "We're ready boss. Let's teach them a lesson they'll never forget."
Should we say figures can break away and of course the winner is the last team standing. This means figures can help eacn other out if they break away or destroy their foes. Cool?
Certainly, aside from the setting up, all normal rules ought to apply.
I was rather hoping Taskmaster would end up paired with one of your more expensive pieces, thus nullifying his ability to Mastermind. As it is, I fear you'll have no compunctions about sacrificing Sidewinder to save him.
I think I'm going to concentrate on the left to start.
Superskrull attacks Titania, AV11 on DV15, needs 4. Gets a 10. 4 -2 for Invulnerable means 2 to Titania.
Hyde will attack Whirlwind. AV11 on DV16, needs a 5. Gets a 9. Whirlwind takes 3.
Venom will attack Grodd, AV11 on DV15, needs a 4. Gets a 6 (3+3). Grodd takes 1 after toughness and is knocked back to O8. Perhaps knockback isn't such a bad thing in this game! It really frees up a character.
Venom will Perplex up Deathbird's damage. She attacks Mordru with RCE (which she can do as a flier). AV10 on DV15, needs a 5. Gets an 8. Mordru takes 5, Deathbird takes 1.
Well, that went well. Mordru and Whirlwind are far less of a threat now at least, though Titania and Grodd are still very much a danger.
The left hand side of the battlefield exploded into action. Superskrull's arms turned into those of the Thing and he attacked Titania with a double handed overhand pummel that brought Titania to her knees - for a second.
"First blood to you," she said, standing back up, "Let's see if you can take it as well as you dish it out."
"Stand still, you whirling top!" Hyde snarled. With a backhanded swipe, he abruptly stopped Whirlwind's spinning.
Venom delivered a punch to Gorilla Grodd that caught the villain off-balance and knocked him back, but it didn't do that much to the ape. He was still ready to rumble.
Deathbird meanwhile grabbed one of her javelins, and hovering a few feet in the air, threw it point blank at Mordru the Mystic, obviously sorely wounding him. A spark of electricity leapt back up the path of the javelin, singeing Deathbird.
"No one attacks Mordru and remains unscathed," he said, though straining to still appear confident.
"One little shock isn't going to put Deathbird out of the fight, old man!"
Taskmaster reached out his blades and cut into Avalanche quickly and easily. Only Avalanche's creating slight, lamost unnoticed tremors, saved him from more destruction.
"Will SOMEbody give me a challenge?" Taskmaster asked.
Scarecrow was loud. Taunting. Bragging. Traits Lady Shiva hated. She was more collected about her abilities. So it came as little surprise when Scarecrow was standing right in front of her that he would be her first victim. He was barely left standing afterwards.
Gorilla Grodd watched Venom intently. After taking the initial hit he wasn't eager to face him head on again. He decided instead tu use his mental abilities and send a test 'shock' to Venom's brain. It worked with little success.
Titania swung at Super-Skrull. He used elasticity and just missed a potentially Thing-like strike. Titania thumped her foot down like a child who had her lunch stolen during recess. "I hate you, dumb Skrull!" she actually said.
Sorry if I confused you. I suggested 4 actions instead of 5, but I didn't mean to imply that they HAD to be one per pairing. (Though I think I used that as an example, which may have caused the confusion. As it is, while I did attack the left side, it left your whole right side unscathed, essentially giving you first strike with them.)
LexCorp Suit-Man will attack Sidewinder. AV8 on DV14, needs a 6. Gets 6. Sidewinder's Supersenses roll is a 3. He takes 1.
Avalanche will attack Sidewinder AV7 on DV14, needs a 7. He rolls 6. That's a miss.
Scarecrow will try his MC on Deadshot. AV6 on DV15, needs a 9. Hey, an 11. Cool. He'll make Deadshot attack Shiva. AV10 on DV15, needs a 5. He rolls a 7. Shiva's supersenses roll is 2. She takes 2 from Deadshot, since he can't use his RCE.
Dreadnought on Shiva, AV9 on DV14, needs 5. Rolls a 10. Shiva's SS roll is 3. 3 more to Shiva and she's KO'd.
"Let's take down the snake-man first," the armored man suggested, "then we can concentrate on skully." He fired a blast from his gauntlets as Avalanche sent up a spray of rocks from the ground. Sidewinder tried to use his cloak to shunt away, avoiding the attacks. The stones did miss him, but the Battlesuit's blast struck him a glancing blow before he faded out.
"Shiva and Deadshot," Scarecrow said, rubbing his chin where Shiva had struck him. "Let's sow a little discord among teammates, shall we?" He struck out with a hand at Deadshot as if to slap him. Believing that a mere slap from the skinny man wasn't worth trying to avoid, Deadshot was surprised to feel a sharp jab. The Scarecrow held up his hand to show a needle protruding from the index finger of his glove. Deadshot began to feel himself break into a sweat inside his mask. He looked left and right frantically. To his left, Shiva was sprouting 6-inch fangs and bat-wings. "No!" he yelled and fired a shot point blank at her. Her reflexes allowed her to spin away from the worst of the blow, but it put her directly in reach of the looming Dreadnought. With surprising speed for something so bulky, he seized her, embracing her in both arms and squeezing. She tried to kick out with her feet, but the robot didn't have the same weaknesses as a human. As his grip tightened, Shiva felt herself begin to black out as the air was forced from her lungs. Her training enabled her to hold her breath for a long time, but she needed to have air in her lungs to do so and with the pressure the Dreadnought was exerting, she wasn't able to do that. In moments she went limp.
That was lucky on my part. That 11 from the Scarecrow made a huge difference. I'm glad I got at least one successful use out of him. Gave me a chance to write something decent for him.
OK Deadshot's team ability allows Lady Shiva to get some clicks of healing. Roll is a whooping 1, so she's alive but useless...I can tell this won't be my game. Should have worked out something a little less painful for the first move.
Deadshot will attack Dreadnaught. Needs 6, rolls 5. Oh joy.
Sidewinder attacks Avalanche. Needs 6, rolls 3.
Mordru will attack Deathbird and Venom (he can only do 1 click damage so technically I don't know if he can do this, we can argue it if he makes this mricale shot). Needs 9 and 10 respectively. About due a good roll...get a 6. Oh well, let me know if that would have worked my purveyor of all Heroclix knowledge.
Whirlwind will roll to break away since he can't do no damage to anyone anyhow...a 3!!!! Wow, a whole round against me.
