1. If you are using explosion and the character that you target has a defense of 15 plus toughness and you role sixteen would the characters adjacewnt to the target still be dealt explosion damage. It seems that you would hit the target but just not hurt him so maybe there would still be an explosion.

2. If you are using explosion and the figures adjacent to the target (that are recieving the secondary damage) are mystics does mystics TA still count.

3. Can you use avengers TA for a mind control attack, like if you were using it as puppet masters wildcard ability. Can you use the Avengers TA with any other kinds of powers like this.

1. Yes, the adjacent characters would take damage from the Energy Explosion attack (splash damage), as long as they don't have damage reducing powers also.

2. I've heard no. Not sure about it.

3. No. Avengers TA (and other free movement TAs) only allow you to move for free. Not to do an action like attacking and what not.

2. yes mystics works when the character is dealt damage and explosion deals damage to adjacent characters.

3.no, Avengers only works when you give the character a move action (as per updated Universe description) The only ability that can exploit that to do more than simply move a figure is option 1 of Hypersonic speed.

Answer is still yes, but...

Mystics actually activates when the Mystic takes damage. (So if the Mystic has Toughness it won't take damage from a single target normal EE attack and no Mystics retaliation will occur.) Assuming that the Mystic took damage from the attack (direct or splash) it will activate and retaliate. A Mystic hit by both direct EE and splash that takes damage will only retaliate once.

Also, because it gets asked a lot, each Mystic that takes damage from the attack will retaliate. So if you hit 3 Mystics (none have damage reducers) that take damage from the attack, 3 clicks of retaliation damage will occur.

Avengers TA does NOT allow a character to move for free and it is NOT a free movement.

JLA, Avengers, Top Cow, and Brotherhood are not free actions. They are move actions which do not count against your allotment of actions for the turn. In all other ways, they are just like any non-free action. They still give the figure taking the action an action token. They still cannot be done after the figure is taxied. And they still are the only non-free action the figure may perform that turn.
