i'm still new to the game and i just bought my first giant character. i'm really confused with the rules for giant characters. here's some of my questions:
1. giant characters are adjacent to other characters up to two squares away for movement and close combat. first of all, the rulebook i have says 'close combat attack'. but i think this means close combat 'action'. i know the rules well enough to know that these are two different things. if it does mean attack, does it mean a giant character can't do close combat actions from two squares away?
2. on the subject of adjacency, giant figs must stop moving two squares away from opposing figs, right? by that point, they are in 'adjacent zone'.
3. can giant figs make ranged attack from two squares away? in other words, can they make ranged combat attack while adjacent to enemy figs?
4. can a giant character make a close combat attack or action if there's a character between it and it's target? what about hindering terrain between them? it's close combat, does hindering terrain modifier still apply?
5. standard characters don't block line of fire to and from giant figs, but hindering terrain still applies?
oh, and i have questions not regarding giant characters:
1. if you knockback a character holding an object, what happens to the object? i'm assuming he brings it with him as long as he still has super strength at the time of the knockback, but he drops it if he loses super strength before the knockback is registered. am i right? please clarify.
2. can energy explosion affect your team mates? like, if a friendly character is adjacent to your target, what happens?
thanks guys! i wish they make the rules on giant characters more clear.

a .
These are some good questions.
I can't wait for someone more knowing than myself to answer them.
As for quest #2, you are correct. This is sort or a weird rule but once you are 2 squares away from a figure you are now adjacent and must stop.
There might be ways around this.
1. A couple of giants can wildcard abilities. (Vet Awesome Andy). He an probably copy the Serpent Society ability. If you use Atlas and change his Avengers ability to Serpent society then he can move freely but cannot use charge or running shot with this b/c the Serpent Society is a power action.
2. Set up a barrier 2 squares away from your opponents figure. A Giant figure can walk over the barrier but you are not allowed to end movement on top of the barrier. So by default you must move 1 square adjacent to you opponent. This should work with charge. Why would you use this??? If you had charge and quake and wanted to hit more characters by moving one step closer.

Close-Combat Actions result in close-combat attacks. So you can make Close-Combat Attacks and Actions againt figures up to 2 squares away.

Yes. And opposing figures must stop their movement when they enter these adjacent squares. To determine adjacency around walls and corners, draw a line from the center of the Giant Figure dial to the center dial of the target. If its within 2 squares and doesn't cross Blockign Terrain, they are adjacent.

Yes. Giant figures count range normally.

A Giant Figure is considered adjacent for Movement and Close-Combat with figures that are up to 2 squares away. So if Yellowjacket has The Thing in base contact with him and there is Batman on Hindering Terrain directly "behind" the Thing, both figures are adjacent to Yellowjacket. Now you follow the normal close-combat rules. Yellowjacket can bash either Thing or Batman if he wants. Thing can make close-combat attack on Yellowjacket since he is in base-contact, but Batman may only make ranged attacks against Yellowjacket as Batman is not adjacent to Yellowjacket for Bats attack.

Yes. Its the same rule for Big Figures (Galactus, Dark Phoenix, Sentinel, and Sinestro). Counter-intuitive, but true.

The only way for a figure to lose an object once its picked up is to:
1)Lose Super-Strength via taking dmage or having it Outwitted by an opposing character
2)Or use the object in combat
Knockback is taken separately. So you deal the damage to the target. Check the dial - if SS is lost the object is dropped. Then you move the figure back the number of squares equal to the damage taken.

Yes. You shoot into a crowd with EE, you hit everyone adjacent provided you roll high enough. Damage taken is normal. EE deals 1 damage to every struck - so if My Thing (16 D), Batman (17D), and Daredevil (17 D) are all in base contact with an opposing Joker (18D) and Thug (14D) I roll an attack roll, then compare all the defensive values versus the roll. I roll a 10 and add my attack value of 8 for an 18.
18 is enough to hit everyone. Daredevil rolls his Super-Sense roll and gets a 5. he didges the attack and takes 0 damage. So Joker takes 1 click, Thug takes 1 click, Batman takes 1 click and Thing's Impervious absorbs the 1 click of damage so he takes 0 as well.
Hope that helps.
Visible Dials and Pushing Damage need to be optional. This is the way.
hi, i know my question has probably been answered a thousand times before, but i cant find it anywhere, so i thought id ask here.
figures are adjacent upto 2 squares away from giant figs, is this 2 squares betwwen both figs like this '1xx2' or is it that the figure is adjacent on the 2nd square '1x2'?
can you please help me out here, so i can play my first game with giant figs?
also, when a giant uses quake, will it work if the enemy figs are adjacent via the 2 square distance or only if they're all base-2-base?

The adjacency is 1X2.
The Quake will work both ways, since in both examples the opposong figure is adjacent to the Giant figure.
can a giant figure make a range attack/action to an enemy 4 squares away, when he is standing 2 squares away from another enemy? doesn't this mean the giant fig is adjacent to an enemy and therefore, under normal rules, can not make a range combat attack?

A Giant Figure making ranged attacks is done exactly like standard characters except standard figures don't block Line of Fire / Sight to and from Giants.
Example: Giant Figure = G Square = X
Giant figure can make a close combat attack against any target in any X:
XXXXX
XXXXX
XXGXX
XXXXX
XXXXX
Giant figure with a range of 4 can make a ranged attack against any target in any X:
Do these rules ONLY apply to Sinestro/Sentinel/Dark Phoenix/Galactus, or do these also apply to the new Giants in FF (Yellowjacket/Atlas/Awesome Android)?

These rules *only* apply to Giant-man, Atlas, Steel, etc. Galactus, Sentinel, Sinsetro, and Dark Phoenix are Big figures, which have a completely different rule set.
Okay, here's a giant adjacency question for you that came up at tournament last week when I was playing three Awesome Androids w/ Supes Enemy TA. How adjacent do you have to be to use a TA like Supes Enemy or Morlocks? My judge ruled that they had to be touching bases, with fubared my strategy, but I think that they ought to be able to do it with one or two spaces in-between. Anyone know the ruling? (Hydra TA, PD TA, MOE or IL, Sinister Syn. or Bats Enemy...)

I thought that the "Big figs" had rules other than that "within 2 squares"... I just hadn't seen a little insert with the giant figs that mentioned these rules, so I wasn't sure. Thanks for the clarification, though.
