Marvel Knights Issue #9: Take one tablet and call me in the morning.......

The Crescent Glider pulled in to land just near the Fisk building, and as they were doing so, Elektra spotted a familiar looking form skittering across the building. “Hey Spider-man, don’t look now but you’ve got a doppelganger on the loose.”

“What?!” Spider-man yelled. “Doesn’t he know that I’ve got exclusive copyright to the spider motif and all related paraphernalia? Seems like every other day there’s some shmuk infringing on me.” Spider-man leapt out the door and jumped up onto the building wall, running up it in pursuit of the other Spider-man. When the apparent clone spotted him, he stopped and turned in awe.

Inside the building 1 hour ago

As Herman tried on the new suit with the improvements had added to his he noticed the other figures in the room all ready for their next job. “So Abe, since you seem to know your way around the tech, are you just the gear man or are of them too?”

Adrian smiled, ”Why don’t you go get your suit Abe. Herman might enjoy seeing why I recruited you in the first place.”

Abe finished his drink in a swing and started to walk away, ”Sure thing, be right back.”

As he looked around he saw the rest of the guys in the room, one guy had sparks coming off him, obviously electricity. A big guy joking around with some guy in a green suit with a tail and a stunning woman completely decked out in silver, even her hair.

Herman felt Adrian taping him on the shoulder with a drink, taking his attention away from the silver vixen. “Don’t know much about her, she joined up just before I left to see about getting you,” Adrian pointed to a man looking out the window shuffling a deck of cards in one hand, ”That’s the one you should take note of. The rest of us, we have tech or weapons. But not him.”

“What is he, some sort of a mutant with powers like those X-men we faced?”(*-DM) asked Herman as he took a swig of his drink.

Adrian smiled, ”No he’s no mutant, well at least not that we know of, be just an artist. If you only listen to one piece of advice from me, this is it. Do not cross him.”

“Sure thing Adrian”, joked Herman until he looked into Adrian’s eyes. He wasn’t joking, not one bit.

“You’re really him!” He said. “I thought I might run into you!”

“Okay…so you know me, but I don’t know you? How does that work? Did Doc Ock jab me with a needle in my sleep and make a clone of me? What’s going on here!”

“Sorry guy, I don’t have much time to explain this, but my name’s Miguel and I’m from the future.”

“So…why are you dressed up like me again?”

“Because you’re my hero! I got Spider-powers too, so I decided to carry on your legacy for you. Anyway….that time tablet thingy that you’ve been looking for- I need it to get back to my time right away. It’s really important, but I can’t say much else because it’ll create a time paradox.”

“And that would be………………bad, right?”

“Real bad.”

Inside the building 5 minutes ago

“So that’s my new Beetle armor. Still having some trouble with the guidance system though,” explained Abe.

Just then a comm panel in the wall started to beep.

Mac started to move to answer it until he caught the eye of the man who was shuffling the cards. Mac sat back down as the man stared him down as he walked over to the panel.

“What?”

“It’s Spencer Smythe, in the lab. There’s a problem.”

“And this concerns me because……?”

“It concerns the Kingpins assets. That tablet he acquired from AIM (**-DM), well the spider we had delivered with it has broken loose and is trying to get the tablet. You know what they said he could do.”

“Don’t worry Professor, I’m bored. We’ll be right up.”

Meanwhile back on the ground, the Marvel Knights approached Danny, Misty and Fisk. Daredevil noticed that Fisk seemed nervous, his heart beat quickening as they approached. While pondering what that meant, he noticed the big man press a button on his watch which sent out a high-frequency signal.

Suddenly robot drones appeared from nowhere, red eyes blazing. The team encircled Fisk to protect him, but then Daredevil called out to the rest. “The Heroes for Hire can handle this, Spider-man needs us more. Cloak, can you take us up there.”

”Sure” Cloak replied, his cape quickly encircling Dare Devil, Moon Knight, Elektra and Punisher. In the next moment they were standing on top of the building, near the two Spider-men.

Moon Knight was furious. “What was that all about?! Fisk was in danger, and you just left him down there!”

“Don’t worry,” Daredevil replied, “I’m sure that Iron Fist and Power Man will easily handle it.” He didn’t add that he suspected that Fisk was in no danger at all, but had actually summoned the drones to him. “What’s going on up here is far more important.”

Spider-man looked puzzled. “How did you know?”
“I have super-hearing. I heard your entire conversation from down on the ground. Now then, let’s go get that time tablet!”

Special rules

- This map is on the top floor of a building, and knockback damage that results in hitting the edges of the map will be treated as falling knockback instead(2, flyers ignore)
- The Tablet is the objective. Any character may pick up the tablet as though it were an object that does not require super-strength. Being in position of the Tablet does not prevent a character from picking up a normal object. The tablet is dropped by a character in possession of it when affected by knockback, either rolled naturally or caused by powers that creat the effect (ie: quake, force blast). The Tablet is dropped in the space that the character who possessed it was in for the attack, regardless if the character actually moves. If the character in possession of the tablet for some reason ignored knockback (ie: charge, damage wasn’t enough for actuall damage) the Tablet is still dropped.
- If at the end of turn 15 the MK’s have it in their possession they will earn 2 TXP, if they do not……..well the world as we know it will fold in on itself….yadda, yadda, yadda, so on, and so forth. Good luck Wakanda, no pressure.
- Spencer Smythe will start in possession of the Tablet in M-12

Tough looking team. I'm not usually a fan of substitutes, but I'm liking Rocket Red as Beetle. RR is one of my favourite figures, and probably my second favourite generic (after th Moloids of course!).

I hope this Future Spidey performs. And I'm really looking forward to playing you Prof.

Cool, haven't been a villain yet-so it'll be a great experience.

Yeah I wanted to fit him in some how but none of the other dials I considered were good choices fro Beetle.

I looked at Positron but being a WC with those stats I didn't really think that was in your power range............yet.

The LexCorp battlesuits and Manhunters are just funny. U Deathbird might have worked with force field but......(s)he'd be a big focuse of the game and I wasn't looking for that either (same problem with Positron).

RR was good, but the attack was lower than I was looking for.....that's why the story makes mention of the quidence system needing work.

I think Rocket Red fits nicely. Beetle was always a bit of a lame-o anyway..until he upgraded to MACH-1 that is. The AV is a bit low, but he probably only deserves an 8 to start off with anyway so it's not bad. Just have him upgrade every other time he appears and he should flow along nicely (E then V Rocket Red, then maybe Positron?)

Nice dialogue. It's generally easier to follow to keep the story posts and the action descriptions seperate though. Speaking of which, I better do a story post for last turn....

Story Post:

"That scientist dude took the time tablet over in to that lab." Miguel said, pointing to a non-descipt looking annex sticking out the top of the skyscraper's roof. "We need to get back fast!"

Cloak immediately teleported inside, rising menacingly before the startled scientist. The poor man shrieked in fright. Moon Knight ran in after him to help.

Daredevil looked around at the others. "We should go around the sides to block his escape."

"Good idea." Spidey 2099 said. "I've got this side covered." He flexed the spines coming out of his arms and ran around the annex. Daredevil nodded to the Spider-man that he knew. "You cover this exit. Elektra and I will take the other side." They quickly slipped around the other side, ready in case Cloak failed to retrieve the tablet.

Turn 2

Free: Cloak Poisons the Professor for the quickest and easiet KO I've ever had. The tablet is dropped in M12. Cloak earns 3 IAP.

1. Cloak pushes to attack the Beetle. AV of 9 vs DV of 15 +1 for hindering. Needs a 7. Rolls a 9. Cloak does one click to Beetle after Toughness, and takes a click for pushing. 1 more IAP for Cloak.

Free: Moon Knight moves to N14, picking up both the Time Tablet and the LO from M11 on the way.

2. Spider-man grabs the HO from J3 and Leap/Climbs to P10.

I don't think that Controller can make it from N24 to T19 with his measely 5 movement because of the hindering terrain in S20 and S21. T20 is as close as he can get to it as far as I can see.

I'll do a story post tommorow. Too late here now.

Free: Cloak poisons Silver Sable for one click of damage. Hate to put you on BCF, but oh well.

1) Punisher attacks Beetle. AV of 10 vs DV of 15 +1 for hindering. Needs a 6. Rolls an 8 (2+6). Hit for 3 clicks (2 +2 for RCE -1 for Toughness).

2) Spidey 2099 will also attack Beetle. AV of 10 vs DV of 13 +2 for ES/D +1 for hindering. Needs a 6. Rolls a 6 (2+2). Hit for 2 clicks and the KO.

3) Elektra moves to N13.
