It says on page 11 of the new Icons rulebook that players bring "any three objects" and place them in the pile, mix them up, and pick one at a time. By this wording it means each player can bring three heavy or light objects if they so choose, allowing up to 6 heavy or light objects in a game. I cannot find anywhere in the PAC or rulebook that says you must have 3 light and 3 heavy. Has this always been the case? I was under the impression that 3 of each type was required. But now that I think about it, I don't really specifically remember a rule of 3 each. Any clarification would be awsome as always!

As far as I know, the official rule has always been that each player cintributes 3 objects to the object pool, and those 3 can be any mix of heavy and light the player prefers.
