The solidly constructed room was well lit, but dominated by a computer bank and output screen on one wall. The woman at the bank turned to the man who seemed to be in charge.
"Sir, the anomaly has been confirmed. That's definently him."
The man shrugged it off, as if he had expected this result the whole time. He spoke up in his clear, noble voice.
"Find out where he will be, then send the Knuckle to intercept him. It's not time for a show of force yet, we merely need to... discuss things with him."
The woman nodded, then tapped a few more keys.
"Sir?"
"Yes, what is it?"
Another figure appeared on the screen, and the leader seemed frustrated.
"Have we been detected by him? And is he working with our anomaly?"
A few more keystrokes, and the data streamed down.
"Surveilance indicates that the anomaly has not worked much with him. It could be a coincidence they are in the same area."
"I don't like relying on chance..."
"I know sir. We're initializing the homing device to ensure better tracking, but until then, I'll continue tracking via our other methods."
"Good."

"Wow... you guys really slowed Hype down."
Hype's body was in a small lab, with scientists all around him, making observations and taking data. The man running the lab nodded.
"It's quite amazing what you can do with sedatives and psychologists."
Kane looked at the pitiful figure known to him only as Hype. He felt bad for him... something beyond his control made him something he didn't want to be... then he fell in with the wrong crowd. It was sad, really... Kane glanced back up, seeing Hype babbling to himself. Kane looked the doctor in the eye.
"What is he going to do once he's out of that daze? He could still be scared and frenzied."
The doctor looked down at his clipboard, then back to Greyfeather.
"We should hopefully have his body reasonably restored by that time, and he should be a bit calmer because of that."
Kane slapped his forehead.
"Word of advice, doc... people are unpredictable. I've never seen Hype NOT terrified out of his mind, I see no reason why he'd stop now."
The doctor shrugged.
"We have some contingency plans available, though some are rather... undesireable."

Mercy stepped into the shower. She winced as the stream of water hit her stomach. Hydran doctors had helped patch it up, but it still hurt like a ##### at times.
As the water washed over her, she closed her eyes. Sighing, she thought about what she was with Hydran.
It was true they had approached her with the contract. And damn it paid pretty well. But she had never thought about why she joined in the first place. She thought carefully.
Something buried inside her started to rise. She bit her lip, trying to deny it.
She had joined this team to kill. Ever since she had knifed Deadeye, she had seen the reaction from the team, most notably from Sebastion. Ever since then, she had felt a bit.... apart from the rest of the team.
But what was she to do? Her entire life had been a history of violence. Savage aggression was all she had ever known.
Sometimes she didn't want that. She just wanted to be a normal person sometimes, have a husband, raise children. But she knew there were some things in life one could never have. Normalcy was the elusive prize for Mercy.
A sudden thought then hit her. Would she die for her teammates? She knew right away she wouldn't, and that's why she didn't really know why she was here. She wasn't really part of the team.
Shaking her head, she immediately pushed the thought out of her mind. She enjoyed fighting alongide this crew. They were.... nice. That's all she needed to know. Maybe she just needed to interact more with the rest of them. Then she wouldn't feel as lonely.
So, after drying her hair and slipping into a pair of jeans, she made her way to the lounge.
As Mercy pushed the door to the lounge, she saw the various members of the team relaxing. Some were reading, playing chess, or eating.
She steadied herself. She felt ridiculous.
"Hey, there's a new dance club open tonight." She felt everyone's eyes. Who knew this social interaction #### was so hard?
"Um, anyone wanna go?"

"It is prepared?"
"Yes... we can place our lure anytime."
"Excellent."
"The apparitions are prepared."
"Superb. And I have finished preparations on my part of the bargain. Everything is coming together... the collective thorn in our side will be no more!"
The first of the three figures smirked, then heard something, turning to see an unrecognized person behind her.
"Give me a good reason not to kill you..."
The new man clenched his fists and held them up.
"I can give you two good reasons right here, and I've got another two good reasons on the floor. Now hear me out."
"You do not frighten me in the least."
"I get that a lot more than you'd think. Most everyone who told me that is dead, though. Now, to business. My associates and I noticed a great deal of energy here, and I noticed that you mentioned someone I need to talk to... so if I can work my way into this plan, I think it would be to both of our advantage."
The first of the original three raised an eyebrow, then made a motion, obviously attempting to fry the intruder, who dodged and had a hand on his aggressor's throat in a split second.
"I've already warned you not to underestimate me... now, where were we? Ah yes, we were to the part where I am allowed to join your own apparitions, as you called them, so I can take care of my business and be a nice enough guy to help you take care of yours. Deal?"
He tightened his grip slightly on the last word, waiting for a nod from his victim.
"Glad we could come to an understanding... feel free to spring this 'trap' of yours anytime... I'll be waiting."
---
"Kane, I need to talk to you."
"Hmm?"
Sebastion had wheeled himself out from the infirmary, following Kane and calling out. After Greyfeather had turned, he spoke up again.
"Kane, I've gotten some premonitions... nothing specific, but... something really bad is coming."
"That many details, eh?"
"Kane, this is serious. We need to do something about it immediately."
Kane looked down at his teammate, who seemed to have healed rather nicely over the course of the battle.
"Look, I really can't do anything without details... I'll do what I can, but I don't think the darkness-o-meter is working right these days."
"Could you be serious for just one minute? We could be in a lot of trouble, but you don't seem to care! You're just happy to go on with your life, blissfully unaware..."
Here, Kane stopped him.
"Listen Kid, and listen good. I have been dealing with garbage noone has paid attention to for longer than you have been alive, so DON'T get on my case about letting threats go."
Sebastion was taken a bit aback by the harsh response, but seemed firm on his point. Just then, Michael started walking by, and Sebastion wrinkled his nose a bit.
"What happened to you? #### your pants in terror?"
Michael turned to look at him, and Sebastion wheeled after him.
"Hang on, I need to talk to you for a minute..."
---
"Alright, spill it. What do I need to bend, fold, spindle, or mutilate?"
Sean scratched his head, glancing at Kane.
"Was that a quote?"
The tech ignored the comment, then pointed toward a map of the state of Washington.
"Alright Enforcers, here's what we know of the situation. Several of our key operations in Washington have been disrupted, and we have reason to believe the cause is superhuman."
Kane raised his hand, then spoke up.
"I seem to recall you saying that when production stopped on a holiday you weren't made aware of?"
The tech glared at him, then brought up some sattelite footage.
"Holidays don't generate energy pockets like THIS."
Over half the screen was colored brightly, and even to someone who didn't know exactly what the colors meant, they looked really bad.
"We haven't isolated exactly what KIND of energy this is, but we have ruled out several possibilities. Meanwhile, it is disrupting manufacturing in these sectors, and we don't believe normal police would be capable of handling the situation. Times like these are where you're glad you've got a team of supers at your beck and call, eh?"
Kane shook his head.
"I almost feel dirty for saying this... Sean, can you contact your brother somehow? He seems like he might know what he's doing, and if this is really as big as Techie claims, we could possibly use the help. And when is Whitney Industries getting Gigawatt back to us? That's a bit far of a rendevous point."
"Our target area will be Washington state, a small town in the eastern part of the state... we have several facilities nearby, and their computer systems are failing due to this energy. I don't care what it is or who is causing it, find a way to neutralize it."
Vladmir seemed incredibly interested in the energy readings.
"Would the technology be able to focus in on this room?"
The tech seemed confused.
"Why?"
"Just... do it. I believe the hierarchy is hinting at something..."
A few keystrokes, and another map appeared on the screen, this one obviously of the briefing room. One could see a bit of energy on the computer areas of the room, and another fair bit from Heru. Vladmir smiled, then surrounded his body in a magic flame, allowing everyone to note the similarity between the two energy forms. He then relaxed, allowing the flames to be absorbed back into his body. Kane could be heard grumbling, and the tech spoke up.
"Well folks... it looks like we have magic on our hands."
He grinned.
"Have fun."
"Oh, you can bet I will... goodness knows I need a challenge every once in a while."
"You, Mr. Greyfeather, seem too arrogant about your abilities and experience. I can tell by your preformance out on the field that these last few jobs have been taxing for you..."
"Check my resume."
"Everyone exagerates on those things when none of it can be proven..."
Kane seemed a bit angry that his integrity was being doubted, but recovered quickly as the tech finished up.
"We have contacted Whitney Industries, they will be rendevousing Gigawatt MK-0 to our location, and repairing him en route. Now move!"
---
"What happened to the hovercraft?"
Kane shrugged at Michael's question.
"I have no clue, maybe they didn't like crossing mountains with it... they tell me to deploy in something and I do it..."
The team was being deployed in a rather advanced helicopter, zipping northeast toward their quarry. Quietly, Gigawatt's creator was running tests and diagnosing systems. Thankfully, the nanobots had done their job and done it well, Gigawatt MK-0 was nearly ready to function again. Activating the robot's central computer, Anders Olson told Gigawatt's system that the damage had been repaired, and that it was safe to come out of auto shutdown. After a few moments of loading, Gigawatt's body was obviously activating, and before too long, he was hovering slightly above the ground.
"Systems diagnostics complete... Functions at 94% and rising. Full efficiency estimated in four minutes, thirteen seconds."
It was then that he seemed to notice his surroundings a bit more, looking around inquisitively.
"Anders, what happened? Why..."
His memory banks were all too glad to provide him with the information on what had happened, and he glared in Brian's direction, as much as a robot with no facial expression capabilities could glare. Brian seemed a bit sheepish at the glance, as if he could tell the dissapointment behind it.
"I'm sorry... it... it wasn't my fault... I'm just glad you could be repaired."
Gigawatt didn't seem too convinced, but knew that Brian hadn't made the attack while in his most sound mind... he had been mentally overpowered. Of course, that was a sign of mental weakness... still, Gigawatt's system functions were back up to specifications, there was no need to alienate an ally.
--- East Washington town, 4:17 PM
The helicopter hovered over the ground zero, and each enforcer descended in their own way, and Kane glanced around after his teleport, brushing the dust off his jacket, even if it hadn't been there.
"Scorching Wind."
Kane yelped in terror, whirling around, unsure who would call him by that name here. Standing in his new field of vision was a rather short, lanky man with knuckle guards, wearing a baseball cap with an odd looking disk on the top.
"You're... Andy Martin... the Steaming Knuckle, aren't you?"
"You're right on the second count, and you would have been right on the first a long time ago."
Kane seemed hesitant.
"Are you... all here?"
The Steaming Knuckle nodded.
"We could be in need of a second Scorching Wind, however. I know it's in you."
Kane shook his head.
"No... I know what you really are... I can't go back there."
"Think about it. I'm sure you'll come around."
Kane shook his head.
"No... I'm still atoning for what I did... I'm sorry."
The Steaming Knuckle didn't seem too disturbed by the answer.
"Well, what are you doing around here?"
By this time, nearly the entire team had descended, and Kane shrugged.
"We've detected massive amounts of energy that we believe to be magical in origin. We're supposed to investegate and neutralize it."
The Steaming Knuckle nodded knowingly, then stood tall, or at least, as tall as he could.
"Then allow me to assist you in your quest, maybe I'll convince you of where you really belong."
Kane seemed vacant, then looked down to the Knuckle.
"I am not the Scorching Wind anymore, and I NEVER will be again. If you're coming along just because you want me to join you again, you're wasting your time."
"Then I'll waste my time. The Knight said to talk to you, a little small talk over energy bashing won't hurt, eh?"
Kane seemed frustrated, then motioned to his teammates.
"Comeon, be alert, I can detect a high concentration of our supposed magic up ahead, near that street corner."
Kane walked forward carefully, and the rest of the group followed softly behind. Timeline stiffened up, and suddenly yelled.
"It's a trap, get ou..."
There was a flash, and Kane felt like he was out of his body... again.
---
"My eyes... they... work!"
Kane blinked a bit, looking around. The entire team, and even the Steaming Knuckle, seemed to be alright and nearby. They were near a small lake, with bushes all around and a small lifeguard tower. The weather was beautiful, too beautiful, in fact. It resembled, to Kane's experienced eye, the calm before an unstoppable storm. If he only knew...

Map is Marvel 3 (Lake w/ bushes)
Initiative belongs to players
Each turn, you need to roll 1 6 sided die. If you roll even, you may attack as normal. However, if you roll odd, any attacks you make must target your own team, OR your doplenganger. This is to represent confusion of duplicates in battle.
At each turn, both heroic and villanous, I will roll 2 6 sided die. If the result is 2-4 or 10-12, The latest battlefield condition played will be discarded and replaced by one randomly selected by me. If the roll is doubles, the old BFC is not discarded, a new one is merely added. I will handle all BFCs in play, you only need to worry about their effects.
First BFC in play is RADIATION LEAK.

Confused and bewildered, Vladimir could no longer differentiate what aura belonged to the villains, and which aura belonged to his team members. The man who stood next to him had a black mind, and it frightened Vladimir. He reached out to touch the man, but quickly withdrew his hand, as he felt the stale heat of impurity. Unsure of actions, Vladimir quickly flew to a bush which provided suffcient cover from enemy attacks. Once there, Vladimir nervously performed a summoning spell, which he hoped would locate his dust speck. It had been a long time since the two conversed, and Vladimir felt the speck might aid him in differentiating friend from foe.
Story: Michael Stares across the park, putting his hand to his brow to block the sun. He sees several figures in the distance, one of them putting . . . their hand . . . to their brow to block out the sun. . .
What is going on here? That guy looks like . . . me. . . and everyone else . . .
Michael's heartbeat quickens. Confusion and panic starts to set in. Maybe some of them are real, and some of us are fake . . . but how do we tell? Then Vlad turns to look at the group then flees. *Oh my God! There must be something wrong! What does Vlad know?* thinks Michael, just as Jezebel cocks her firearm. Michael immediately reacts to the sound, his blocks flying form their bag and forming to one large cube, and tries to smash Jezebel. She dodges the metal block just barely, her honed reflexes saving her a concussion.
Move: Michael rolls for friend/enemy, rolls 3. Panics and swings at Jezebel. Needs 18, Rolls 6(4,2) +10 for a swing and miss.

Gigawatt surveyed his surroundings. Something was wrong. He had been near allies a moment earlier, but there was no question now that his friends were elsewhere. These were not the same people he had fought beside in times past.
He ran a diagnostic on his sensors, sure that his readings were wrong, but they came back the same. The individuals he was surrounded by posed a definite threat.
If it was true that they posessed the same abilities as his former companions, he knew there was little hope in running. He had to stand and fight. He was at an empasse. The clone of Brian was no doubt lethal, as Brian had proved when his mind was taken over in their last encounter. There was a dangerous trio to his right, including both Kane and Jezebel, and of course there was Heru, who looked more frightening than ever with twin guns at his side.
Whoever he attacked, the others would no doubt react and blast him senseless. If he was going to sacrifce himself, he had to do what was best for his allies. He had to throw the most damage he possibly could at what would no doubt be the greatest threat.
He sped past the threatening Heru and took careful aim with both his cannons at the lookalikes of Jezebel and Mindbender. A well focused area of effect blast would be more than enough to at least slow them down a bit.
He started to fire and noticed 'Kane' signalling to the others to dodge. Their efforts were in vain as the robot quickly adjusted his fire and sent a wide arc of electricity coursing at the trio. At the blast slammed into 'Jezebel' and 'Mindbender,' Kane leaped aside another step, energy licking the ground where he once stood.
Though he felt some satisfaction, Gigawatt wondered why the cries of pain he heard were making him uneasy. Could he have been wrong?
ACTION:
Scenario roll is a 5. Gigawatt performs a running shot to T-11, targeting Jezebel and Mindbender with EE. Rolls a 9 (9+11 hits a 20 defense) Kane makes him reroll and he gets a 7 (7+11 hits an 18, enough for everyone). Kane's super senses is a 6. Jezebel and Mindbinder both take 2.
