if you are a standard grounded figure, when you move into hindering terrain you must stop.
i also think that you can move "through" your own friendly pieces. is that right?
what if one of your friendly pieces that you want to move through is standing on hindering terrain? are you allowed to move through it without penalty?
let me know if i need to make my question more clear.

No. Since you do have to stop when you hit hindering terrain, and you can't occupy a square already occupied by another character, you can't perform that action at all. You'll have to move around the character with a different route.
