Gordon crouched down behind the squad car, Bullock and two street cops knelt by him.

“When are we goin’ in Gordon, you getting’ too old for this?” asked Bullock with a sneer.

“Quiet down Bullock, you know what’s in there and I don’t see you volunteering to go in first,” replied Gordon with a note of temper in his voice.

“I wanted to go in with SWAT,” shot back Bullock.

“And they didn’t want you getting in their way Detective,” replied Gordon.

One of the street cops s######ed softly, but stopped as the sounds of gunfire and screams came from within the store.

Suddenly there was a bright light and a gust of wind. The cops turned their weapons on the young man and two women, one of them a green giant, suddenly standing in the street.

“Woah woah!” laughed Johnny holding up his hand, “don’t shoot, it’s Johhny Storm and the Fantasic Four.” He struck a heroic pose.

“The who and the what now?” said Gordon.

“Hey genius, there’s only three of you,” said Bullock.

Johnny looked deflated, “you mean…you haven’t heard of us?”

The gunfire inside of the store stopped and a SWAT cop came through the window and landed with a thud on the other side of the street.

Gordon jumped up, “well whoever you are, if you’re supposed to be meta-heroes come with us.”

“Yeah come on Terrific Three,” added Bullock, “just try not to get in my way.”

“What kind of accent is that?” whispered Sue.

“Jersey I think,” said Johnny, “that would explain their slowness.”

The interior of the jewelry store was a mess, bullet holes lined the walls and downed SWAT lay amongst broken jewelry cases.

What looked like a family out of a nightmare was stuffing gems and jewelry in to sacks, and they turned and almost growled as the F4 and the cops entered. They all looked, to some degree, like they were made of mud. As they fanned out the big one turned his hand in to a giant spiked mace.

“Oh no,” said Gordon, “all four Clayfaces! Where are Batman and Robin when you really need them?”

She-Hulk gently moved Gordon to one-side, “forget about your pets Sir, we’ll handle this.”
