Okay, so here's the question. Thunderbolts and Alpha Flight require the "Avenger's team ability." Syphon Power requires "Wild card team ability." The Society requires the IL symbol.
Seeing as how for Syphon "wild card" is sufficient, even though there is no "Wild card" team, would the case not be that, by definition, the Avengers Team Ability and the Justice League team ability are identical and, therefore, by virtue of the precident set by Syphon, in light of the definitive alternative wording of "Society," it stands to reason that all JLA and Brotherhood figures legally meet the prerequisite for Thunderbolts, so long as there are no wording variations within said powers [like the way UXM and 200AD are different powers]. This understanding would also apply to a Brilliant Tactician's ability to affect people with whom he or she shares a "team ability."
[Also, does anyone care that a new Collosal figure has been confirmed? Am I the only one that's psyched about one that won't be convention exclusive or cost a mint?]
There is no need for a FAQ entry. There is a definition of Wild Card Team Abilities in the Icons rule book, and all wildcard TAs state "members of this team are wildcards".
I think I see what you are trying to say, and I'll answer the best I can:
As for the "wild card" teams:
Quote
Marvel updated Team abilities (from the WK website):
Minions of Doom: Minions of Doom team members are wild cards.
Spider-Man: Spider-Man team members are wild cards.
ICONS PAC:
LEGION OF SUPER HEROES: Legion of Super Heroes team members are wild cards.
From the updated Indy TA document:
Bureau of Paranormal Research and Defense: B.P.R.D. team members are wild cards.
Freedom Phalanx: Freedom Phalanx team members are wild cards.
So, all the above TAs are defined as 'wild card' team abilities by thier very description.
Avengers, on the other hand:
Quote
Marvel Updated TAs:
Avengers: When you give an Avengers team member a move action, it does not count toward your available actions for the turn.
Brotherhood of Mutants: When you give a Brotherhood of Mutants team member a move action, it does not count toward your available actions for the turn.
While the effects are similar, if not exact, these are two distinct Teams, and what applies to one does not apply to the other.
I hope I made my point, I'm kinda tired and my brain is kinda fuzzy.....
And this thread really belongs in the rules forum, so I'll move it over there....
Wild card is used, and in such, encompasses all of the things that would claim to be 'wild card'. Whiel the Avenger's team ability is a free move, as is the JLA, the requirements on the card does not ask for 'A free move team ability', it asks for the Avengers team ability. It's asking for a specific TA that grants that power, not any TA that grants that power, as do Spidey-Friends, Legion of Superheroes, and the like.
Where and when was this new Colossal fig confirmed? And was it confirmed that it wasnt a con exclusive?
Heroclix Fantasy League Season 7 Team: FEARSOME FIVE!
The reasoning here reminds me of an anecdote from a help desk worker I found online:
Quote
Customer: "I'm having a problem installing your software. I've got a fairly old computer, and when I type 'INSTALL', all it says is 'Bad command or file name'."
Tech Support: "Ok, check the directory of the A: drive-go to A:\ and type 'dir'." Customer reads off a list of file names, including 'INSTALL.EXE'.
Tech Support: "All right, the correct file is there. Type 'INSTALL' again."
Customer: "Ok." (pause) "Still says 'Bad command or file name'."
Tech Support: "Hmmm. The file's there in the correct place-it can't help but do something. Are you sure you're typing I-N-S-T-A-L-L and hitting the Enter key?"
Customer: "Yes, let me try it again." (pause) "Nope, still 'Bad command or file name'."
Tech Support: (now really confused) "Are you sure you're typing I-N-S-T-A-L-L and hitting the key that says 'Enter'?"
Customer: "Well, yeah. Although my 'N' key is stuck, so I'm using the 'M' key...does that matter?
Quite frankly, it DOES matter whether you type 'N' or 'M', and it does likewise matter whether a figure is an Avenger or a Brotherhood member...
Okay, maybe this was out of line a little bit... Psylockeslover is not the only one here who's tired...
And to debunk my own pseudo-loophole, per the Icons glossary, "Team abilities are indicated by a symbol printed on a character's base," so, therefore, the "ability" is fundmentally tied to the symbol.
I don't know who it is, but in the statement about changing the term from "big" to "colossal" there was an ambiguous hint that there'd be a new one. So I asked Seth and he said "yes. there will be another one." And I have reason to believe it WON'T be exclusive in any way. So that's fun. I'm thinking it may erhaps accompany Supernova? WHo would be a Colossal Marvel dude though? Unless it's a DC guy, but they wouldn't with Spectre being out, would they?
The question was posed in the wk forum under the aks prophus thread, i believe. Seth all but confirmed there would be a new non-exclusive big fig. I'll be hyoped when they confirm its a new sentinal. Till then, meh. It could be something from DC that I'll have absolutely no concern or wish for.
