Just wondering what everyone's thoughts were regarding this issue? It picks up where Deadly Genesis left off. Vulcan is heading to Shi'ar space, while Xavier recruits a team to go after him. His chosen four (Havok, Warpath, Marvel Girl, and Nightcrawler) go to Egypt to save Polaris from an Anti-Apocalypse cult. For her involvement with Aocpalypse, she has been branded a fugitive. I kind of got the deja vu, of Xavier saving Nightcrawler's ### from the mob, back in the Giant-Sized special. Anyway, so they save her, and Xavier instructs them that they are going to steal a space shuttle, and put themselves between the Shi'ar and Vulcan. Nothing mindblowing, but a solid start to Brubaker's run IMHO. Your thoughts? Also, what do you think of the team?
P.S.- The Art was pretty cool, too!

Loved it....This might make Whedon the second best Xmen writer. I loved the artwork. But for me it was the use of Warpath. This is a character that should of been used for awhile now. I am interested in seeing what Brubaker does for him.
Yeah Warpath was just awesome. Especially the way he threw that kniife against the tree. This team seems very cool, but I still liked Cannonball, Psylocke, and Bishop. They were awesome and I'm not the biggest fan of Havok or Polaris, but none the less, I could become! Like you said, Darth Sabre, the artwork is fantastic and this book seems to be going on the right track. I just love stories when they have a small flashback every now and then.
I like it but I don't see why they have to make Warpath into Wolvie (vibranium knives?). Other than that all is good. I'm very excited for Brubaker's run. I was a huge fan of Sleeper.

I wouldn't say he's this team's Wolvie. He's always carried a lot of anger with him, and has always emulated the way his brother acted. If you read John's appearances in the early days of the All New, All Different X-Men; James acts just like him, but carries himself with more anger. Charles alludes to it when he mentions the hate he had for him.

When X-force came out, it had a bunch of pages in the back of early issues that were supposed to be Cables' files on the various members and foes they faced.
The notes on Warpath state that he's a very very angry young man, and that Cable hopes he can turn that anger towards his own ends.
"Un-fun Dad, un-fun Dad,
He's so bad, he mak'a me mad
Un-fun Dad, un-fun Dad
He's a real cad, Un-fun Dad"
I remember the Cable files, but then again i bought 6 different x-force #1's
One for each of the cards and one to open and read, if onlt there was a chromium variant. /sigh
Loved the idea of the misfit X-men and their "deposed and depowered" leader taking off into space to stop the crazy Summers brother.
I had some thoughts on the arc. Like how will havoc and vulcan's powers interact? Will vulcan be able to "bend" it like he did with cyclop's eyebeams? Will Racheal be able to keep it in check, or does x-men in the shi'ar empire mean a phoenix force sighting?
I thought it was a great read. I like the team a lot. Always good to get a well known (by X-fans) but seldomed used character like Warpath in on a story. Looking forward to Marvel Girl facing down the Shi'ar after what they did to the Grey family too. Anyone else hoping Vulcan goes good and becomes an X-Men?
Also, I read that another member would join the team in #2 of the storyline, and that it was top secret who it would be. I'm thinking Prof X stop in at Cerebro has something to do with it. Any guesses who it will be? I'm hoping Darwin, as I think his powers have tons of potential.
Just to expand on the Warpath is Wolvie statement, Warpath now has blades that can cut through anything. You can't deny it seems weird that they gave him something like that.

yeah, but it's really nothing he needed. Reminds me of Spider-Man's new "stingers". I think Spidey called it "Logan-Envy" or some such.
I don't really see Warpath becoming Wolverine by giving him a pair of knives, they just added something to his character so hes not just the "standard, tough, super strong hero". They give him "something", its not ground breaking or charater altering or anything, but its something.
And I don't want to see Vulcan join the X-Men, its never any "fun" with a character that powerful joins a team, they make better villians.
Theres only one Return, and it ain't of the King, its of the Jedi.
I felt like the knives WERE introduced as characters. I just fear they'll become what Warpaths all about. Maybe I'm just making too much of them. I do trust Brubaker, I just didn't see the point of giving him knives.
