I play my friend in heroclicks pretty often, hes not too heavy on startegy, but he makes up for it in brute strength... i can NEVER beat him in high point matches, his kc supes is tough to beat, when hes not using him he has magog, and he throws in the armor wars magneto alot too...
these pieces are so tough to beat, but heres the really tricky part
he waits for me to come out, so he can get first strike, EVERYTIME
Lately ive been swarming kc supes but every goddamn time he rushes him back to a medic and its game over for me
Another strategy i use is to have someone psy blast or outwit defenses, but i dont have a cheap outwitter (had to use kraven ) and i still get beat... if not doing that, once he rolls for imperv im done once again
ive got -
ultimate thor
firelord
V FF ghost rider
V Ultimates captain america
there usually the base of my team, with jonah hex and paladin in their also
Mystics and Wildcards/Tbolts / LAMP him and throw in War Zone.......
To really be a jerk right back (hee hee), build one point under him. I don't know if you still get victory points for underbuilding (was it changed?), but then you both just camp and if you play time limit, just stall like he does and you win.
Or, just wait in the starting zone yourself every tuun, he'll get bored after awhile and come out. Then, first strike him.
I'm not much help huh.....
But seriously, if you know he plays those same types of figures every game, you'll know what to play and be able to counter it. Nothing is easier than beating an opponent whose team is obvious and known to you beforehand.
No feats, so TK and Outwit him. Just get rid of all his powers. Really, I don't know what you have, so it's tough to give advice besides the standard usuals of Outwit, etc.
Look, you've got Ultimate Thor...he has Running Shot and a 10 range...run a Stealthed Outwitter in (Kraven will do just fine) to Outwit the damage-reducing ability of Superman/Magog, then run in and use your ten range to blow him away. Magog gets considerably less dangerous after five damage....Superman maybe not so much, but (especially if you have a piece with Barrier to contain him so he can't strike back) it's still a pretty solid hit. He lands on 16 defense and his second last click of HSS.
Just have two TKers - one for Thor and one for Kraven - unless he isn't using TK, in which case you don't need them.
In high point games you can also spare a few points on some figures to hunt down his medics. Or you can just base his medics--Supes and Magog can't heal if one of your figures is adjacent to his medic. Any of the Lockjaws is great for this. If you really want to be mean, you can combine Lockjaw with E/V Joker (Icons), which is probably overkill for paramedics.
Just get ahold of either an old or new Sentinal. Play it at 200pts and then capture his Supes/Magog. If you have Thor out there to draw attention then you should be able to get the capture & release double points almost every time.

thankyou guys for your help, any ideas for how he always waits for me to run out?
My response to this would be FINE, just go right up to him with Ultimate Thor and deal some damage to him, i'd TK an Outwitter and move him into range and prefferably hindering terrain if he has stealth so Kraven would be perfect then throw you Ultimate Thor and Running Shot him, get Firelord to throw up a barrier infront of Thor and keep a cheap PC'r behind Thor just incase Supes does Get a Shot off at you so you can re-roll your impervious save, i'm unure why you have trouble when Supes goes to a medic as from personal experience Super is a bugger to heal with normal medics (Damn Xorn) unless your friend is a very good roller or also has a PC you really shouldn't have trouble with that, but incase you do i would just use a cheapish HSS peice like R Nightcrawler to zip up there after he's been TK'd and knock that medic off Support, me and my friend have played many matches with my KC Supes VS his Ultimate Thor and overall it's 50/50 in terms of winnings so it is possible to beat him, i've always found my friends V Blackknight carrying some other brick character to be quite troubling due to his Exploit Weakness, Magog can be beaten easier due to his shorter range and those clicks of Battle Fury and Magneto loses his mobility after a few clicks so a hit nad run tactic works well for him, hope that helps
Get a couple of cheap barrier users (Invisible woman from FF or R Pyro), protect Thor with the barriers, get some cheap outwit for when KC Supes gets HSS, and that should be enough to win.
alright, this guy seems kind of sad if hes running around with KC Supes and a medic on the same team. im of the devout thought that yuor teams should make sense.
This is what I suggest you do:
1.)Kill the medic first off
2.)get lots of stealth to hide from superman.
3.)Another good idea would be to throw on some mind control and TK.
4.)An example is v karma, she has a 10 range and 11 attack, mind controlling supes to melt someones face off would be quite entertaining, or vice versa.)
I suggest you TK over a multi-target incapper ,vertigo for example, and incap his KC superman. Vertigo has perplex, so u can up your attack if you're unsure of hitting him. Try to time it when he has an action, so you push him, and make him rest next turn, leaving him vulnerable to follow-up attacks. Use a multi-target psy-blaster to chip away at superman, and maybe other figs in range, if there are none, then just superman. I suggest V dagger, 10 attack psyblast, 6 range, runningshot, 3 targets, spidey ability 69 points. She also picks up support on her LAST click, which is great if you land on it, but don't count on it.
You could maybe even beat him with a loose theme team
Female mutants (mostly x-men)
v blink (for TK, and secondary attacker, x-men TA) 66
V jean grey (for TK and support, x-men TA) 50
V vertigo (for triple incap and perplex) 65
V dagger (multi-target psy-blast and later, incap) 69
V marrow (follow up attacker, to be TK'd up when Superman is off invulnerability to finish him off, regenerates, and has x-men TA) 47
3.)Another good idea would be to throw on some mind control and TK.
4.)An example is v karma, she has a 10 range and 11 attack, mind controlling supes to melt someones face off would be quite entertaining, or vice versa.)
Have Supes kill his own medic! Nothing more entertaining than that...
Goodman, you cant PC your own imperv roll when supes would attack. PC is your rolls on your turn, his rolls on his. Anyway, if he is just sitting there waiting to get the first hit, then he cant reach you across the board. Sit in your starting area and make him come out first. If this is a tournament, that might be considered stalling, but if he is stalling, you could be a jerk and call him on it. If it is a casual game though, its pretty cheap to be playin KC Supes anyway, but stall to your hearts content.
To beat supes, just play LOTS of stealth and keep just out of range of his melee range and you are golden. Send lockjaw in to his medics and you can even use his move and attack on em. If he doesn't use feats as well, outwit is your best bet. Then you can stop his defense powers or his HSS. Thor is a beast and shouldn't be underestimated, especially if you lock up his healers.
if he doesn't come to you and wait turn after turn... just place your PCers, perplexers and kraven in hindering firts... and then... tk thor and running shoot 10 squares away and double target his TKer and some other fig in his first row ( 2nd row at his sight )... then he will not be able to tk supes or magog... and the don't have the reach to hit you back... if he has someone who can hit you back blast him with firelord or base him with gost rider.. and then hit his medics or better base them with someone with poison
hope this will help!
I started playing heroclix at a shop... the moment my girlfriend got tired and told me "stop telling me I cant atack because you have I-don't-know-what, and I can't move there cause I don't have that thing"...
Do like I did ... I hit ebay looking for specific clix to counter my opponents pieces and read up on and learned the different types of teams, look up peoples attack values and learned what to include on my team (outwit, stealth and pyschic blast etc)and hopefully the next time I play him is he in for a surprize.
Build your team a few points under his team then position your team and make him come to you. I find that I do better when I build my team around sub teams rather then building it around 1 big clix. I have done well in the past. I try to pair up my peices in teams of 2 or 3 clixs. Normally a flyer and nonflyer or 2 flyers and a non flyer. Example of a sub team I would use is R war machine, echo and E superboy. War machine running shots the target while superboy and echo move up. If I cant get superboy within range to charge then I base with echo and superboy charges next turn or vice versa superboy charges then echo charges and blades claws next turn. All the while War machine provides cover to take out any support peices in the area or rescue peices.
Something that I used to find to be a problem was my lack of good peices ..by good peices I mean peices with high attack and defense values. I hit one of the many sites that show clix dails and hit ebay to find some of the older clix with the powers that I found my clixs to be lacking.
I also have a friend that loves to play medics and as soon as his superman takes a hit its back to the medic. I have not played him since I bolstered my clix collection but im confident that next time we play hes in for a surprize as i intend to swarm him with smaller peices and have outwitters, Psychic blast and exploit weakness so that he takes the damage when I hit him.
