my venue had a two booster draft yesterday to help the store clean out old stock.
She had Icons and Collateral Damage out for sale, no Marvel.
I and the two other players decided to go with two boosters of Icons apiece. We opened all the boosters, tossed them ALL in the middle, and started drafting.
The youngest kid went first, and drafted the V Darkseid right off the bat. I was second and drafted the V Batman. No superman allies were in the boosters. After me, the other guy drafted the E Superman and something else (R blackfire, I think) And I snagged the U Ra's Al Guhl.
I ended up snagging two Rookie and an Experienced Robin, two V Cheetahs and a R starfire.
All but two of my figures could deal no more than two damage, but noone could crack stealth, and I had FOUR figures with willpower and Incap.
Infiltration got played, and Bats and Ra's started out in hindering (on the Danger room outdoor map) The kid moved out his V Wonderwoman and R bizarro.
Starfire slagged an object on top of the 4-square roof and batman hopped up onto the corner of the building,... now in hindering. He outwitted Wonder woman's charge and I moved a robin and a cheetah out.
we only had 4 actions so I was done,... and banking that the kid wouldn't push Bizarro to charge Ra's because he only had a 9 attack.
He did.
Carrying a light object.
And he rolled an 11.
Ra's was pretty much toast at that point. I went for breakaway and missed on my turn, bats missed, but outwitted wonderwoman's charge again, and robin pushed to miss bizarro.
next turn he cleared the Biz and i tried to outwit the defense and charge him with a cheetah. I rolled a 3.
biz offed ra's on his turn, and I pushed the cheetah to try again... missing.... again.
Batman also missed, and so did robin.
not going well.
Eventually wonderwoman moved up, and I charged her with the other cheetah, missing.
I cleared everyone.
The next round of attacks went like this. Cheetah missed. Batman CRIT MISSES and the other cheetah finally hits bizarro.
I roll a 1 on blades.
the kid misses me for a round, I clear, he nails a cheetah for 5 with WW knocking her out of action, and misses with bizarro.
Bats outwits Bizarro and Cheetah finally nails him with BCF for 5. Bats hits him for 3 after that and I incap him with robin. things are looking better.
Batman starts to come around at this point. He outwits wonderwoman pretty continuously, and double incaps two starfires in range for several turns. Bizarro runs away after i knock him past his second slate of charge.
eventually a Beast Boy gets up on the roof with me. Starfire slaps him for 3 (she had crit missed earlier, as had E Robin)
batman slaps him for 3, and he's now got a 6 attack. I figure I'm safe.
He pushes the Beast Boy to hit batman...
rolls an 11
hits batman for 1
and knocks him out of stealth.
greeeeeat.
I push to greast beast boy next turn and the other two opponents start a massive joker-superman- double darkseid -bizarro brawl in the far corner of the map, away from me. I pick off who I can with batman and move my guys closer to the center of the map.
a "shock the turtle" barrier goes up
everyone starts moving their wounded pieces into the middle. I eventually end up crit missing again with a R robin and see his second click.... 16 D with Combat Reflexes and perma-stealth. I look at the other rookie robin on his first click.
I turn off willpower, and push him to leap into the center of the map.
The other robin moves with him. The batman gets carried up there by starfire... who took a shot to the chops earlier from wonderwoman... she also belted bats in the mouth and he's back to his outwit, with toughness.
I still had a V Cheetah on her first click, and FINALLY the rolls start coming. Batman outwits defenses and she starts slashing for vitals.
She makes mincemeat of two aqamen, (with help from robins and batman) an E bixarro who hadn't been scratched, and someone else, I think.
The barrier ate a darkseid and his medic.
I ended up winning. my casualties were a Renee montoya I used to tie up wonderwoman for a turn, U Ra's who did jack all, the V cheetah who got clocked by wonderwoman early, and my R starfire who died fighting.
I didn't think I had a chance in this one, I just drafted guys I liked.
It was a lot of fun.
I really like play-by-play stories, and yours was especially entertaining. I've actually always loved surprising people with Robin, whether it be the nicely built Icons versions or the budget Hypertime REV. Of course the REV Nightwing is also surprisingly good.

Not to nitpick, but I thought that hindering on elevated terrain (at the edge of a building) doesn't provide cover for Stealth anymore... If so, I've been royally $cr3w3d by judges in the past few games, where they allowed my opponent to benefit from the hindering (curse you, Black Panther!). If not, just ignore me.
Isn't it a beautiful thing to discover your dial for the first time when you play with it? The whole "push to leap in your face" feels like spiderman's pounce but oddly, it works better with bats and other CR 16 DV clix. Sweet!

Anyhow, congrats on the win.
You been had
From the Danger Room rule book (page 37):
An otherwise clear line of fire between an elevated character and a grounded character is blocked by giant characters and colossal characters; hindering terrain does not affect a line of fire drawn between an elevated character and a grounded character unless the target occupies a square of hindering terrain.
@CornsilkSW - Congrats! Things like this are the reason I love sealed booster and/or draft tournies.
i'd love to do a sealed game like that, sounds a lot of fun, i'm also a big fan of robin aswell as he's an essential piece in my Titans team, although it sounds like you may have to work on your rolls man, even on a bad day i rarely miss that much, lol, great story though

Um... why wouldn't it? I don't see anything in the Danger Room book saying otherwise. That would make no sense, logically or game mechanically.

They tried to clarify that you can hide IN hindering terrain as long as the hindering is elevated with you, but you can see over hindering terrain below you.
The explanation is a little wordy.
That is sweet dude you won with Robins yeah you had some other help but that is still cool rep for that and I dont see Ra's Al Guhl and Batman getting along very well. lol but they got the job done in this fight.

actually the only thing Ra's did was get smacked in the face and tie up a R bizarro for a couple of turns.
they got along in a few storylines... namely Son of the Demon. Good stuff. I've always liked their tenuous friendship centering around Talia.
