Issue one came out, FINALLY. Half-year delays aside....
So far it is confusing AND awesome! It's like watching an action movie where you jump into the story in the middle of a battle and you follow, individually, seven different characters who are in the middle of it. You get a feeling that this battle really is huge and apocalyptic, and very frantic. It even spans time, with participants in/from the distant future and past. It involves Darkseid and the New Gods!
Some people may get put off by the jumping around and metaphors, but I love it. I can't wait for the whole story to be done so I can piece the whole puzzle together. It's such a detailed and well thought out story, from beginning to end. That can be why it's so confusing at times. There are things that happen that you can't understand until you've read it all and put it all together.
Who else read it and what do you think?
But I have the sense to recognize that I don't know how to let you go...
I'm already a little confused and the issue hasn't even reached me yet.
Mainly because I thought "Seven Soldiers" #1 was supposed to be the finale of the story - the last issue tying together everything that happened between #0 and the assorted mini-series. You mention though that there's supposed to be further issues? Maybe that's why there's been a delay - they've decided to go ahead and expand it out further?
"Nobody important? That's amazing. You know, in 900 years of traveling time and space I've never met someone who wasn't important."

Interesting, odd read.
Well, BuddyHoss, it was a series. Just a really weirdly designed one.
Seven Soldiers #0 was followed by issues #1-#4 of the following series: Bulleteer, Frankenstein, Mr. Miracle, Zatanna, Klarion the Witch Boy, The Guardian, and the Shining Knight. Seven Soldiers #1 is the final issue of the mega-series.
Morrison says the comics were written to be read in the order they came out, with Shining Knight, Guardian coming out with an issue, then Zatanna and Klarion having an issue, then alternating, eventually bringing in the last three Soldiers' stories. The TPBs (the way I'm reading the series) are reprinted in this way, so you see all the various story hooks and such, and each is revealed in time (or semi-explained in time).
I'm a big fan of the Newsboy Army, and the notion that the "team" can never gather in one place.

When our story opens, the Question is investigating an impossible locked-room murder mystery involving a midget and a 6'6"-tall call girl into heavy bondage. Don't worry, I'll explain later. It's all vitally relevant.

Well, yeah I knew that, I own and read them all in the right order. I was just under the impression that the "Seven Soldiers of Victory" title was going to go on for more then issues 0 and 1. Because honestly when are they ever going to get around to explaining any of the stuff that happened at the end of this book (Mr. Miracle and Klarion especially) if not in more Seven Soldiers books? They don't seem to really be including these characters in any of the current storylines. I've seen Bulleteer and the Manhattan Guardian show up, but they hardly if ever say anything.
The events of this series feel out of place in the DC continuity now. Before, when it was on schedule, the Harrowing all felt in line with the Infinite Crisis. But when exactly was this supposed to take place? And why were the Seven Soldiers the only heroes doing anything during the Harrowing?
And what did the Bulleteer do for the fight against the Sheeda exactly? She accidently crashed her car? That's her role as one of the Seven Soldiers? And Mr. Miracle and his "Dark Side" enemy? What does that have to do with the Sheeda and the Harrowing? What do the New Gods have to do with any of this?
These are the kinds of questions I thought would be answered in more issues. I wonder if we'll ever get these questions answered any other way.
But I have the sense to recognize that I don't know how to let you go...

It happened during Infinite Crisis. The reason the Seven Soldiers were the only heroes doing anything is because all the other heroes were busy during Infinite Crisis doing, you know, stuff.
Okay I thought one was supposed to betray them but is it just me or did no one see a betaryer at all unless they are saying that Klarion betrayed them but I just did not understand this book at all

Klarion stole Misty's other die and used the power of the two (Fatherbox) to take over Frankenstein and the Castle Revolving. He's the new Sheeda leader.
It's hard to "betray" people you've never met, but he's certainly set himself up as the new "villain" (depending on what he does with his newfound army).

Oh. Er. Okay. Sorry!

Not sure what to think of this. It was my interpretation that the New Gods were defeated and in exile as per the Mr. Miracle mini. I had assumed the next "event" would involve Shiloh helping to restore them to their former glory. Yet here's Orion back in the saddle already.
