You can't T-bolt to a TA that is provided by a feat card.
um can that be explained a little better the tbolts is a feat that allows you to use a team ability in place of the avengers ta, that is a feat card. I want him to understand why thanks!
Characters assigned the Thunderbolts feat may not choose a team ability that is granted by a feat card when choosing a team ability.
But try this explanation.
When you choose your team ability with Thunderbolts (before the games starts), you must choose a valid TA. Alt FF does not become a TA until the game begins. This is why you can't choose it with T-Bolts.
Better?

I don't want to talk to you no more, you empty headed animal food trough wiper. I fart in your general direction. Your mother was a hamster and your father smelt of elderberries....now go away or I shall taunt you a second time.
Not really, for a couple reasons. First, the FF ATA flat out says "Fantastic Four team ability" in the prerequisites. Second, that statement also disregards the wildcard-ability (is that a word?) of the ATA.
The easiest answer is because the Marvel E&C docement says so.
"Characters assigned the Thunderbolts feat may not choose a team ability that is granted by a feat card when choosing a team ability."
A more in depth answer has to do with the timing of assigning feats (including ATAs) and the declaration of the new Thunderbolt TA.
All feats are assigned during force construction, before the game begins. Thunderbolts is then declared after you've actually placed your force on the map, right before play begins. In other words, during the force construction phase, when you are assigning feats, Avengers using Thunderbolts do not have the FF TA which means that they can not be assigned the FF ATA. Once feats are assigned, you can't go shuffling them around mid-game, so even if your T-bolts choose FF as their new TA, they still don't have the FF ATA assigned to them (just like you can't have a different character start using Pounce mid game after your first Pounce character is KO'd).
