i used to love the ultimate universe, all the new reinventions of characters, some stories are really great to read still, it really boosts up my heroclix customs making all the ultimate versions, but arent some characters being a bit skippy? the mojo series, ultimate mojo was cool, i want to make him and will in the future, but then they throw in arcade, and i didnt even realise it was as in arcade, the one from normal xmen, with a hat n that, i just guessed new character until i read wikipedia! and i didnt even realise they were on krakoa the living island? theres one character skipped agian?! this has happened other times, characters have been mentioned but then stopped from ever happening, like molten man is a rock star, is he to later become molten man properly? stop stopping characters and play them out!
There is a {Shift} key on yor keyboard to make the small letters big and you put those at the beginning of each sentence. It looks like you poured a bunch of letters, commas and question marks onto the page.
I also did not see much of either a question or a point but it was so hard to read that I will admit to not paying that much after about 2 pseudo-sentences.
I do like the Ultimate X-Men, better than average writing and much more timely publication than the Ultimates.
Until this most recent issue, I had no clue that Kirkman was building towards the "Goblin Queen"!
As far as "ultimate" versions of "classic" characters, I see three trends:
1) A+ Characterization: The character is there, almost always with a twist, but often with just a re-prioritization of personality traits...and the character has plenty of appearances so that a story can develop around the differences between classic/ultimate versions.
2) Totally reimagined and discarded: Occasionally they'll be a classic character introduced, only to be discarded by the end of an arc (CURSE YOU 3-ISSUE ARCS!) I thought the Ultimate Fantastic Four and Chuck Austen's U X-Men were particularly bad about this. Bendis also has his moments on Ultimate Spidey.
3) Casual mention: Occasionally a classic MU character is mentioned, but only as a throw-away line.
yeah tidge, i love the big story lines, like goblin queen is going to be huge, and im waiting to see when ultimate apocalypse makes another appearance, and know how big his story will be.
but it is the short story arcs that dissapoint me, some times it feels like a few characters are being chucked in just to get them over and done with.
especially ultimates, i mean abomination, dead, already?! and i wish they would hurry up and make some decent link from herr kleiser to red skull, so we can say, whoopie, its him.
yet im still a bit confused how they cobbled together the chitauri and the skrull and say their both the same race because their both shape shifters, but normally go about in entirely different apperances, and yeah, the skrull just decided to help hitler...
