You are correct. Which is really stupid IMO. The same way that Green Scar can't use it when he gets to his Willpower/Impervious clicks, and Doomsday can't use it on his Unstoppable clicks.

The only time you can use feats with special powers is if the power says that "this charactor" HAS Imp, Inv, Super Strength, Mind control, etc., etc.
Most special powers say "this charactor" can USE, and there is the difference.
Almost all of the special powers that make a normal charactor a Giant says they HAVE the Giant Symbol, and that is way you can use feats that are specfic to giants, cause the prereq. is usually that they have to have the giant Symbol.
hey shellheads pal,
how do you get those eye holes cut into that cast iron pot?
Well, after the effects of my soda-binge had worn off, I used a welding torch. Those babies get hot, you know, and it would have been a shame to scorch myself. Safety first, citizen!

Toughness is not visible through the stat slot so characters using Force Field do not meet prerequisites requiring Toughness.
The rules will set you free... Ironically, enough.
Actually, related to "Has/Can Use," with the Feat Force Field, which says "This Character HAS Toughness," does that meet the Prereq. for Shellhead?
In theory yes.
In practice, however, it is impossible to put both Force Field and Shellhead on the same figure as their prerequisites are mutually exclusive - Shellhead has prerequisites of Impervious, Invulnerability or Toughness, and in order to be assigned Force Field a character cannot have a damage reducing power anywhere on their dial. So any character that qualifies for Shellhead is automatically disqualified for using Force Field.
However, if some other feat came along that had Toughness as a prerequisite it would be possible to use the Toughness gained from Force Field to meet the prerequisite of the feat during game play (but not during force construction).

I don't think so. The rules say the power has to show through the stat slot. The Toughness gained from Force Field does not show through the stat slot.
Hmm. Guess I wasn't aware that Force Field required them not to have a damage reducer ANYWHERE on the dial. Hm. I've seen it used to "toughen up" Black Bolt's Defend clicks. The units section just says "Choose a character without a power that reduces damage," and I haven't looked at the real card in a while. Just interpreted that to mean that if they had a damage reducer on a click, the Force Field shut off, which wouldn't really cost them anything.

A good example would be Laz Pit+Indomitable.
You could assign Indomitable to a character that naturally has Battle Fury but later on in the dial loses it. If the figure is KOed and then returns to the map with LazPit the figure GAINSWillpower and Battle Fury from the LazPit. This allows him to use it as a PreReq for the feat during game time even if the natural power is not showing. But LazPit by itself is not enough to meet the PreReqs to asign Indomitable at build/construction time.
"A Jester unemployed is nobody's fool." - The Court Jester "And so he says, I don't like the cut of your jib, and I go, I says it's the only jib I got, baby!
Just as how a prerequisite of a feat can be anywhere on a dial to meet the prerequisite, when a feat says a character can't have something to meet the prerequisite, the character can't have it anywhere on their dial.

No, it doesn't. The power has to be visible through the stat slot in order to meet the prerequisite.
