or if your target is elevated on the edge!
or a giant figure/big figure!
or coordination feat card!
the irony of me knowing this is that i dont play with GL's because i cant pull them. ever. the only exception being rookie sinestro. the rest that i have, ive had to trade for, or get on ebay.
I miss? PC it. You hit? PC it. I hit? I can do better, PC anyways. You miss? I DIDN'T SEE SNAKE EYES, PC IT!
Unless I'm mistaken, I'm pretty sure that you can't shoot through an ally to hit an opponent on the edge of elevated either. I'm about 95% certain on this one. I'll come back in the morning and look at this again, when I have time to fetch the rulebook.

The 5% is correct.
When drawing LoF between a grounded figure and an elevated figure on the edge of elevated, the standard figures in between will not affect the LoF.
elevated, for as long as ive known, ignores everything on the ground between you and your target, and vice versa. unless youre actually in hindering terrain, you dont get the +1 or stealth, figures in the way, allies or enemies, dont block line of fire,,, blocking terrain, however, is still blocking terrain with its own rule of being thousands of miles high, haha those are some HUGE boxes let alone tanks.
if there is an official ruling other than this, id like to know, cause that would really change a lot of strategy, id have to let my local judges know,,,

I don't doubt you, so don't get me wrong here. Could you please make a quick reference to where this is in the rules though, as I've never seen it played this way. By reference then I'm going to assume that if the standard figure was stealthed in front of your attacker, he wouldn't protect you from LoF either. Hmm, that's a pretty big rule I've managed to overlook for quite some time. I do apologize for my incorrect statement.
I'm pretty sure this is going to be easy to find, which makes me look even more dumb .

sorry for the double post, but its to answer the question
LOSH page 33
the first paragraph describes the difference between grounded and elevated. 2nd paragraph is about elevated to elevated, grounded to grounded going through elevated, and that elevated terrain cant be destroyed ( didnt know that part actually)
3rd paragraph- "A square with a red line running through it (marking the boundary of an area of elevated terrain) is on the rim of the elevated terrain. if an elevated character is on the rim of elevated terrain, it may make ranged combat attacks targeting grounded characters and be the target of ranged combat attacks by grounded characters. if he line of fire between a grounded character and an elevcated character crosses any elevated square not on the rim of the elevated terrain, or any square on the rim not occupied by the target character, the line of fire is blocked."
4th paragraph- "An otherwise clear line of fire between an elevated character and a grounded character is blocked by giant characters and colossal characters; hindering terrain does not affect a line of fire drawn between an elevated character and a grounded character unless the target occupies a square of hindering terrain."
5th paragraph states the adjacent squares at different elevations cant make close combat attacks, but can ranged combat each other.
4th paragraph referring to the 3rd paragraph to define "clear line of fire" meaning no other elevated in the way, only giants and colossals block line of fire in the way of characters. hindering only counts if theyre in hindering.
this is why i always put at least on object on elevated edges if i plan on shooting from them.
