The Ultimates assembled again at the transdimensional portal they had captured from the Chitauri. After saving the world from the shapeshifting Chitauri, the Ultimates learned that some of the invaders had retreated to an alternate universe--that of Earth 616--where they hoped to rebuild their strength. For months, the Ultimates had pursued the remaining Chitauri, determined to end their threat once and for all.

This time, however, as the Ultimates prepared to travel to Earth 616, strange, infernal energies poured forth from the rift opened by the transdimensional portal.

"####!" From his years of military and espionage experience, General Nick Fury knew that it was never a good sign when captured alien technology erupted in a light show resembling cheesy CGI special effects.

"So," said Hawkeye, "I'm guessing that the Chitauri didn't leave behind an owner's manual telling us what to do when their doohickey puts on a cheesy CGI light show."

Bewildered SHIELD technicians and scientists frantically tried to shut down the portal, but their efforts were in vain. In a brilliant surge of mystical power, the Ultimates were torn from their Triskelion headquarters and thrown across the dimensional void into an unknown battlefield.

Amidst drifting clouds of sulphourus vapor and hissing flames of balefire, the Legion of the Unliving reappears on the mortal plane of existence.

"FINALLY!" The Grim Reaper shouts in triumph. "My arcane scrying has guiding us to this exact spot without flaw, for here my minions, we shall finally find the so-called *Earth's Mightiest Heroes*, and revenge shall finally be ours!"

For a moment, impossibly sharp alien eyes focuses on the figures that had just appeared in a flash of light.

"Hmm... we might have been out of the loop for a long time" Mar-Vell muses quietly, "but I don't recall Nick Fury ever being black, nor Susan Richards being that young."

"WHAT?" The Grim Reaper screams in rage. "Impostors? Impossible! How could they have fooled my seeking?" Without waiting for an answer, the furious Reaper continues. "Destroy them all!"

Mar-Vell smiles, flying down from the roof with the better part of chimney in one hand, unleashing a lazy shot as he goes. Captain Marvel makes a running trickshot to N19, picking up the HO from I22 on his way and getting +1 range from Mockingbird's TA. 12 atk. vs 17 def. Needs a 5. Roll is: (6,3) for a 9 and a hit! Invisible Woman takes 3. 1 SA for Captain Marvel and 1 AST for Mockingbird.

The impossible shot flies true, striking the invisible target and smashing through her force-fields with contemptuous ease, throwing her to the ground with the sheer concussive force. "As I thought!" Mar-Vell smirks with a ghastly, undead grin.

You'll pay dearly for thwarting my last plan, and for defiling the memory of my brother you scarlet harlot!" Grim Reaper screams. "Mar-Vell, destroy her!" Grim Reaper orders.

"As you command" Mar-Vell replies. "Though I sense a more powerful, direct threat much closer..." Nevertheless, Mar-Vell fires a massive blast from his Nega-Bands towards the roof where Wanda is hiding.
Mockingbird uses her TA to increase Marvel's range to 11 and Marvel fires a trickshot using RCE at the Scarlet Witch. 11 atk. vs 15 def. Needs a 4. Roll is: (4,3) for a 7 and a hit! With 11 squares between them, PC is out of range so Scarlet Witch takes 5 and is KO'ed!
1 SA and 1 KO for Marvel, 1 AST for Mockingbird.

With uncanny accuracy the nega-blast strikes a seemingly innocent pile of rubble and trash on the edge of the distant roof, throwing clouds of dust, rubble and the Scarlet Witch high into the air! Wanda comes crashing down with a wet *thud*, unmoving, unconscious and utterly out of the fight!
Mar-Vell smirks and pretends to blow smoke away from his Nega-Bands.

"Kind of corny, don't you think," quipped Hawkeye.

Spectrum clumsily swung the giant fishing rod at the Grim Reaper, but the villain easily sidestepped the hook.
