Lately I have noticed that EVERYBODY wants to get their hands on the Boy Wonder from the alpha set, what is it about this figure that everyone wants so badly? I looked at his dial, am I missing something? I don't get it.
There is a perception, I believe, that he's more rare than the other three rares in Alpha. I don't know if it's accurate or not, but that's probably where most of it comes from regardless of dial.

The rares seemed to be regionally distributed. I know, for instance, that here in NH I haven't seen a Boy Wonder. I think that certainly factors into it. The Dynamic Duo seemed relatively easy for me to locate here. And The Clown Prince of Crime wasn't too hard either. I had to trade for a Nightwing, but that wasn't too outrageous. The Boy Wonder however, is very difficult to find a deal that I'm comfortable with for the figure even though he's the only figure I still need from the Alpha set.
i bought 5 packs here in indiana pulled 2 boy wonder 1 clown prince
(already traded the boy wonder sorry)
through trades i managed to get the rest of the set and am only missing Alfred at the present time
Remake the Blob 08-Join the Campaign and put this in your sig !

In an old thread from last year, the consensus seemd to be that Boy Wonders were distributed mainly west of the Mississippi while Dynamic Duos were found mainly east of the Big Muddy. I'm in Maryland and had no problem getting a Dynamic Duo fig, while Boy Wonder's still the only Alpha fig I'm missing. And those two figs are definitely less common than the other two rares from the set.
Online hobby shop (not eBay) pricing for the two runs about $10 apiece (when they have them in stock -- which is practically never), while the Target Exclusive Batman goes for around $30 a pop.

Here's a bit of weirdness to revive an older thread.
I was going through my dupes looking for extra figures for a trade deal, and I noticed that the "Target" Batman #31 was fetching high trade value. I remember buying a second pack of that character, so I was sure I'd find it dropped in with the box of AA/Alpha extras.
Anyway, I found the card for #31 but I had no luck locating the figure, so I started organizing the cards...and oddly I noticed a "silver" tabbed Alpha card...it turned out to be the Boy Wonder. Sure enough, there was a Boy Wonder figure in the box of dupes.
I hadn't noticed I pulled one of them (I definitely don't have another one), most likely because of the choice of sculpt...and possibly because the figure would have come from one of two 50%-off clearance boosters (Borders Books) from almost 6 months ago... the other alpha booster I bought that day had the Dynamic Duo, which registered with me as a rare.
This 60-point figure is definitely overshadowed by the 66-point Arkham Asylum rare.
