So i visiting a local comic book store today.. and found a giant box of "old" heroclix that the owner didnt really want.. The box said "Everything 3.00 or less".. but the owner came by and said, "Heck, everything a dollar or less.. i dont really care"
So for 5 bucks (no tax) i walked out with the following pieces:
Emerald Eye or Ekron LE
Operative #128 LE
Jefferson Pierce LE
Harvey Dent LE
Joey the Snake LE
Wasp Unique (Infinity Challenge)
Lobster Johnson Veteran
To me.. this was a pleasant find.
Anyone else ever have an experience like that... ??
I was in a Chicago area store over the summer and they had a lot of cheap old stuff. There was a Thanos on the shelf without a price tag, so I asked the guy how much. He gave it to me for $10. It's not as good as your find, but I was pretty stoked.
When Horrorclix was still around and kicking I went into one of our shops before heading upstairs for the Friday night heroclix tourney, and they had a small box at the front with Horroclix vets for $2 each. I got a couple Vampire Hunter vets for $2 each and at that time they were going for $12-$15 a piece - that was awesome
On a sort of similar note I went to visit my sister at college in Virginia and I looked up local comic shops before I went. Went to one and got some sweet vets and uniques for cheap (this was like 3 years ago) and we went to another shop that was sort of just a collectibles store and I bought 2 packs of Origin (this was shortly after it came out) and I pulled a Queen Hippolyta - it was AWESOME.

Shoot, I still might pay $2 for a Vampire Hunter vet.

I stumbled on a comic shop's Black Friday sale... 50% off HeroClix singles, including brand-new HoT stuff. Scored my Gert & Old Lace and an extra SR Valkyrie on the cheap that way, as well as several HoT generics.
God is smarter than we are....
Visit Heroclixin'! Or check out my trade thread. Molly Hayes' KO list: HoT Ultron, HoT Thor, SI Iron Man, AV Wonder Man, SI Sentry, LE Diana Prince, R IC Ultron, Pretty Boy, CW Kang, IIM Thunderball, TW Catwoman, OP Red Hulk.
Not my story, but the best I heard was a buddy got into clix right around Universe, after playtesting at some shop. The following day he went to a local TRU where they happened to have all there discontinued HC product (when HC came out their big box retailing was ineffective...) in center aisle bins for around $1.99 a booster. He cleaned them out of XP, CM, CJ, HT, CT. Probably bought about $100 worth and was invested in the game!
Dream BIG, but keep the small dreams around just in case...
This summer I picked up a set of SI that included:
All 1-60 figures and 5 skrull variants & 5 extra moloids
A full FF starter with map
SS Iluminati numbered with box
Both Chase figs
and all the 'cardboard' LE's
All figs were in great shape with cards - the price- $100. I kept the chase pieces and sold off the rest for - $200. Chase figs and profit
I think that the most pleasant thing I have found that I could buy was the GLC set sealed. This was the time that they sold out and you could not find them.
The most pleasant overall thing is being turned on to heroclix and realizing that the people I have met and even played against are great people and the tournament scene is so much better than MTG.

Similar to phantalien. I took some old CDs I had (about 100 of them) and sold them to a used CD store in town, for just about $200.00 On a whim, I went to 2 of the local comic shops to see if they had anything on the cheap. One shop had the GLC set for $20.00 (had 2 actually, I should have bought both ) at a time when they were hard to come by, so I bought it. The next shop had the Invincible set, with Robot broken off the base, and the 2099 set with Ghost Rider broken off his base. The owner of the shop gave them both to me for $20.00 taxes included !!!!! I walked away with 3 collectors sets for less than $50.00, and still had $150.00 in my pocket.
Trade to Canada. We're friendly, and we love Beavers..........
A few years back at GenCon I picked up the all shiny chromed Silver Surfer (set = ?) & Paralax for $10 each at one of the little vendor booths selling misc gaming stuff.
At the time I didn't play HC all that much, just collected random cool sculpts. So the price tag didn't mean all that much to me. Afterall, each figure was priced comprably to what I'd pay if I were buying Reaper minis or such....
I come home & mention this to a friend who played alot more than me & he about fell over. Turns out Paralax was NEW right then & each was going for far far more than what the $20 total I'd just spent on them.
A: This was House of Secrets in burbank, wasn't it?
B: From that same drawer (if it is) I pulled a Deathstroke for 50 cents and then bought a HoT pack from which I pulled Phylla-Vell, first of my two current Power Cosmic figures. PC is a big deal faction, right?
Power Cosmic is one of the most potent team abilities in the game.
For a long time all of the characters with Power Cosmic were convention exclusives or the equivalent of super rares; Phyla-Vell is a little easier to get, but she's still great.

haha... yes it was!
Did you happen to find anything good in that drawer?
